Forgotten History

Marcus, and his squad mate Casper, were hanging out in their assigned quarters. The room was made to fit eight, but they were the only two present at the moment and were currently arguing over which model of the Beamer edition sniper they used was better. Marcus was waving his hands at Casper as if to shut him up, the two talking in louder tones to make themselves heard over the other before snorting with laughter and ending with a head butt.
"Whatever dude, you shoot what you like and I'll shoot what I like. But you're wrong!" Casper said in farewell, ducking a pillow chucked his way and running out the door, nearly colliding with Rin as he went.

"Byeee! And don't sweat over the two stupidly hot guys viaing for you. Not at all the plot of a soap opera." Called Tess with an impish grin and a wave, before she jogged off to her ship which was docked not to far away.

Tess raised her eyebrows, scoffing softly. "yeah, totally sounds like it felt like a mistake.". She said in disbelief. " well i gotta go run a check up on my ride. I'll catch you later?"

"But, is he the guy you wanna be with? I mean, he is a desk job guy, never would've pegged him for your type." Shrugged Tess, sticking her hands back in her pockets. "Just my opinion, you know that. You should maybe talk to Marcus about it at least. After all if he is you're best friend, I don't think you'd wanna lose him over a boyfriend. A cute boyfriend yes, Ill admit." Nodded Tess with a teasing expression. But then she seemed to register what Rin had mumbled, eyes going wude as she darted forward to hiss "you kissed him?? Why! When? What was it like!?"

"Yeah, kinda picked up on that". Tess said quietly, before adding " if you two share everything, why didn't you tell him about John? I thought you were crazy about fancy pants. " fancy pants being what Tess referred to John as.

Tess untuckedher hands, running them through her bangs before asking slowly "what did you do? He looked pissed Rin, I passed them at the range and his target was shredded. Like,beyond all recognition. Should we giveJohn a bodygaurd?"

Tess shrugged, looking to Rin's viper now. "Cute. Smart. Pissed off at something." Her gaze flicked from the Ship to Rin, eyes narrowing shrewdly. "He met John I'm guessing?"

"Meddling". Tess said simply. " you know, like always. Inserting myself in people's personal lives, causing mayhem and drama. Just the usual.". She peered at the monitor over Rin's shoder, before pointing at one of the areas needing attention. "Gotta fix that. Oh! Met you're boyfriend. The one you fangirled over for like a month after you got back from leave.'

Marcus had refused to look their way throughout the rest of the meal, instead sinking in with his squad mates before eventually leaving with them to get some rest. He stated most of the night, making pointless conversation with his friend who also was having trouble sleeping. The next day though saw them busy going through their gear.

Tess found Rin in the hanger, skipping up to her with her hands deep in her pockets. "Hey" she chirped in greeting, coming up beside Rin. "You look like crap, rough night huh?"

"Yeah don't bother with mine, I should go anyways,". Marcus said after Rin, pushing himself to his feet as his squadmates continued to shoot subtle glances their way from further down the table. " I suppose I'll see you guys around. Nice to meet you John.". And without a glance towards Rin or even waiting to see if she had heard him, he got to his feet and moved down towards the other three.
