Is there room for a Dwarven city state?

I would like to use firearms, as they're quite popular in Dwarven fantasy settings, however I agree that they should be in their infancy and totally inferior to say the Elven longbow. More than likely, my missile troops would rely on crossbows, as Dwarves are quite small fellahs, and would struggle to use anything bigger than a short bow. I'd likely equip the King's guard with rifles, and some of the newer more exquisite formations. I imagine they'd be much more advantageous in a tunnel environment, than on an open field where wind + rain could decimate their already questionable accuracy and effectiveness.

But yeah, at least for the beginning-middle part of the RP, my little kinsmen would be relying on axes, shields, pikes and crossbows with a few experimental weapons mixed in (such as early cannons, or early grenades). The late part of the RP would feature a more 17th century style army, with pikes and muskets fulfilling a prominent role... but this is just me hashing out some ideas.

Truth be told, I'd be happy to keep things purely in the medieval era.

I think that sounds really cool!

So I guess this died, then?
Looks like we've got about four nations, if we don't get anymore what will fill the gaps between them?

Hopefully we'll attract more players. If we don't, I'd suggest you expand your borders. I'll also fill out the rest of the space with pleeb-land (ungoverned peasants and brigands).

Also, I'm currently working on your vassals!

Would it be possible to make a kingdom of the dead, along with my own traits for them?

Well, that depends. What traits did you have in mind?
@babbysama

Vassals of the Kingdom of Öspa

House Uyalt
Ruled by Egill Uyalt, Duke of Bildsfelln. The Duke is an old man of seventy years, and rumor is that he is dying. He doesn’t seem to have noticed, however, as he is still governing his island and people with a firm but gentle hand. His wife, Eydís, passed away last year, leaving him with his heir Hrafn, a hard man of 50 years, and his sister Jóna, a masterful sailor of 42.

The Uyalt family supported House Siglune in the War of Succession and has been loyal ever since. The Duke of Bildsfelln has selflessly defended the royal family more than once. Some say that his oldest son and heir is of another mindset, though. They say that Hrafn Uyalt has great ambitions, aspiring perhaps to take the throne for himself. These are only rumors, and his father the Duke takes great offence to anyone calling his son a traitor.

House Hákon
Ruled by Ásta Hákon, Duchess of Hestr. The Duchess is a young woman of only 25, recently risen to power following the death of her parents in a fluke hunting accident. Her family consists of her younger brother Hjörtur, 21, and his daughter Svana, 3. Despite her youth, the Duchess is known as a shrewd politician. There is however a rumor circulating that she is unable to have children.

The Hákons were fierce supporters of the old royal family during the crisis before the War of Succession, but have changed with time. They have proven their loyalty to House Siglune more than once, even though they are far from perfect supporters. It has been hinted on more than one occasion that the Duchess and her brother would like to see their Svana wed to the young King Enní.

I hope these vassals are to your liking (and that I got the names right!). You can add them to your NS.

@The Omnipotent Sphere

I would like you to add something connected to your picked Flaw "Not a flawless family 2" in your history section.
Firearms have been around for a long time, but they were not really effective until after the medieval era. It's kind of like with crossbows; skilled archers would outdo crossbowmen and riflemen, but crossbows and firearms are easier to use. You just pick it up and point it in the right direction, whereas archers have to be trained for years to become effective.

To summerize, firearms are nice but expensive (but unreliable and dangerous, black powder explodes) short range artillery. They are however no match for a squad of skilled archers (like longbowmen).
@babbysama, @The Omnipotent Sphere: Accepted! This is coming together nicely :)
Yay! :D
Any ideas for a kingdom? :)
Kingdoms of Seyan

Welcome to the Interest Check!

Seyan is an island lying off the north-western coast of a continent known as Morroinn. The island is roughly the size of Sweden and Norway combined and has a climate similar to those countries. A number of kingdoms inhabit the island. Some of these are allies, others are enemies. They are all however rivals, competing for land, resources and glory. A few of these kingdoms are native to the island, whilst others are the results of foreign invasions. Some could even be puppet states for a nation on the continent. But this is really just speculation. All of this is, of course, up to you.

You will take the role of one of these kingdoms, playing as its current ruling dynasty. Your goal is survival through any means necessary, be it intrigue, diplomacy, intimidation, assassination or outright warfare. When your dynasty dies, so do you. The game will be played in seasons; spring, summer, autumn and winter. Each season will have certain events that occur regardless of what the players are doing, but they must react and adapt to these events or face the consequences.

The technological development of Seyan equals that of 1000-1200 Europe, depending on the kingdoms. There is magic in the world, but it can't be practiced. It is a natural force that surrounds everything and sometimes warps reality in surprising ways.

When you create a kingdom, you will choose from a set of Traits and Flaws to define what it's all about. You have 10 points to spend on Traits and must initially take 2 Flaws, however you can buy more points for Traits by taking additional Flaws (at 1 point per extra Flaw). If you want to, you can create new Traits or Flaws; I must however review and accept them before you use them.

When you have selected the Traits and Flaws you want you move on to the next stage, which is the Nation Sheet. Here you use the information from your Traits and Flaws and start spinning the details around them. You also get to claim a chunk of the map as your own, pick a flag, describe your culture and so on. You can use the Sheet below, or make a variation of it if it doesn't suit you.

And with that, all you have to do is wait for feedback and/or acceptance!

Finally, when your NS has been accepted, you will be gifted with two vassals. These are NPCs with power and is bound by oath or force to serve you. You may call upon your vassals to help you in a number of matters, but beware! Powerful people thirst for more power, and your vassals may turn on you if you treat them badly, or if they smell weakness. In short: your vassals are useful tools, but can become dangerous if you neglect them.

Disclaimer: I have made the map myself, but the traits and certain other aspects of the game are borrowed from other RPs.
