Scenario #16 (Ivy, Aphrodite, Mei, Jade - Request in the OOC if you want to join and have a good reason for doing so)

Over the past few days, Ivy had been helping Jade to gain mastery over her powers. The girl's absolute banality vis-a-vis ethical use of dark magic meant that the training would be a long and arduous process. Ivy had excelled at a young age because her difficulty in empathising with others had allowed her to use maximal force, only stopping short of actually killing her quarry.

The two, now into their fifth lesson together, were soaring over the rooftops of Ceteris. Ivy, masterfully controlling a circular plate of ice underneath her feet, was trailed closely by Jade. They were both in pursuit of a petty thief; easy target practise. His panicked and frantic scrambling across streets and alleyways suggested that he was aware of their presence. This would soon turn out to be a boon as the man's panicked state of mind hindered his ability to escape: he turned into yet another alleyway and stumbled over an errant pile of bricks.

"No witnesses." observed Ivy placidly. "Good. Contain him and slam him against the wall. Watch your power. Too hard and you'll kill him."
Kyo exhaled deeply once he was sure that Dark had left. He wanted to go to sleep but the multitude of thoughts raging in his mind would not let him. He needed to improve his ability to act under pressure or else Dark would be on to him.
On that night, he had been Atlas, holding up the world above him, his knees buckling and threatening to snap. He had come so close to permanently losing himself, but what if he already had? Extinguishing the light from another man's eyes represented a bold new step across the line marked in sand, a foray into dangerous and dark territory with no light to aid him.
And what was this about Carolyn? Had she truly showed restraint? The idea made him scowl. He did not need sympathy from anyone, least of all Carolyn. If the only reason he had managed to escape imprisonment was because of Carolyn's mercy, Balthazar's training had been useless.
"He's wrong," he thought to himself indignantly. "She'd love to see me rot. And maybe I will, but not while the others still breathe..."
He rolled over on to his side and settled his head into the pillow, eyes wide open.

-End of Scenario 14-
"Wait, I thought she let him go because she felt the same way you did..." he said slowly, brows furrowing as he was completely unable to comprehend the idea of Carolyn showing even an ounce of mercy. "The way you put it, it's almost like she knows the person who did it. How many murderous friends or relatives do you think a girl like Carolyn keeps as company?"
"What?!" exclaimed Kyo, completely aghast. "Carolyn held back on bringing this guy to justice? Are you seriously suggesting that Carolyn let someone get away with murder? That's messed up, man. I don't think she should be a prefect if she has such an odd moral compass."
Kyo turned quickly and raised an eyebrow at Dark, eager to avert the subject from his sudden onset of nervousness.
"What question?" he asked, pretending as though the idea of Carolyn losing a verbal joust was particularly appealing to him.
Kyo let out a bark-like laugh this time, a little flustered at the idea that Dark might have taken him seriously.
"Ivy is psychotic, dude. I rather would take my chances with Caro..." he stopped suddenly in mid-sentence; it felt as if he had repressed the memory, but the realisation that Carolyn witnessed him murder a man hit like a train. It was almost certain that she knew it was him under the mask. There was no other explanation for why she had been there at that moment... so why was he not in prison right now?
"L-Lyn." he finally stammered.
Kyo grinned at the thought of any romantic link between Dark and Aphrodite and laughed loudly and sincerely. The idea of the cold badass settling down was simply too comedic to imagine, but he would have been blind to have noticed Dark's affinity towards her.
"I know you mean Aphrodite, you obviously have a thing for her." he said slyly. "So what, are you two going to get me and Ivy together now? I've always wanted to star in my own romantic comedy, come on!"
"Well, guess you've got me beat then." said Kyo glumly, feeling a little insecure upon being reminded of his friend's accolades. Balthazar was probably furious with Kyo after his pathetic performance; it must have been embarrassing for him to have to get Kyo to the hospital. "Maybe you'll be able to handle Ivy and Aphrodite now." he added with a chuckle.
"Yeah, I did, but it's not like the thought of it became more appealing over time. Alvarez has always taught us to integrate into human society, so I've never thought of using my powers in anything other than a life or death situation. Fighting a friend was never going to be my idea of fun." he said patiently, hoping that Dark would just take the story.
He was hardly surprised that Dark's inner alarms were sounding, but Kyo was crafty enough to silence them. He had to. Dark's inquisitive nature was not tempered by his Guardianship; in fact, the trait had been exacerbated even further.
"I was just uncomfortable with the whole idea." he said, running a hand through his hair rather absent-mindedly. "I didn't like the idea of fighting you. You're a Guardian so you're stronger than I am and you're also a friend. You know how Balthazar is, he would have been pissed if we didn't fight like we wanted to kill each other. I guess I was just scared one of us might end up getting hurt."
At his last few words, Kyo managed a small and rueful smile. The entire story was, of course, a lie, but he reasoned that the smile would be a normal reaction to figuring out that one's prescience was not misguided after all.
