Personality: Hot-headed by nature with a slight temper, she acts as a mother figure and will show fierce aggression to those who threaten her loved ones. Forced to raise 3 siblings early on as a child has hardened her through the years. Nonetheless Ares can be thoughtful, kind, and sincere, but it's difficult to reveal this side of her, as she constantly has her guard up. She refuses to take anything for granted is very grateful to those who show support, and can be a very loyal ally. Throughout the years she's had rough dealings with men, thus giving her a feminist like mentality, she believes she's as strong as any man, warrior, bandit, mage, you name it.

Biography: Her mother, Rose, a strong, respected member of the Shepherds, raised Ares and her three siblings as a single mother. When Ares was born, Rose decided to cease life with the Shepherds, she believed it to be dangerous, too much of a risk, and so she took up farming instead, purchasing a house in a new village with what money she had saved up. They lived a decent enough life, even so she was a single mother, and struggles still occurred daily. Rose urged her children to aspire to passive, honest lives, encouraging farming, trading and alchemy, as well as always pushing Ares to marry early, since she was the oldest, and would make life on her easier.

When Ares was 13, word apparently got out that Rose was a former shepherd, Rose had been assassinated. With no other options, Ares was forced to take care of her sisters and brother. Although she was distraught, she had a responsibility to care for her family, but they could only live off what money they had for no more than a month. Ares decided she had no choice, she sold the farm. Using her mothers sword, she would become a shepherd, and so she was off, taking her siblings with her to an old village, Hemshire, where the group of Shepherds that her mother fought with remained, in hiding. Sadly, when they arrived, no trace of the Shepherds remained. They too had been assassinated, except for one.

Eventually, an old member of the Shepherds who went by the name Fargo told them to leave, calling Ares a fool and claiming she was only going to get herself and her siblings killed. Ares, refusing to give up, demanded Fargo take them in and teach her how to wield a sword, but he refused. She remained persistent, and eventually began to beg, revealing to him that her mother was the swordsman Rose, and had been assassinated. Fargo, who had trained Rose when she was younger, took them in, and decided to show Ares the art of using a sword.

For ten years Ares trained with Fargo, becoming a fine swordsman. Overtime she raised enough money as a mercenary to purchase a house in Hemshire for Fargo and her siblings, who all had their own professions by then, and lived together happily. On Ares's 24th birthday, Fargo died, of old age. He left her with a letter of recommendation for a faction of Shepherds in Plegia. She was off.

Quirk: Very good cook.

Strengths: Due to her feminine build she is naturally quick and agile.

Weaknesses: Damaging her speed will require her to rely solely on defense. Weak psyche, getting into her head can cause her to panic, she will also instinctively defend people she cares deeply for no matter what the threat may be, thus putting her at risk.

Likes: Outdoors, friendship, family, cooking, cleaning, competition, beating people bigger than her. Flowers.

Equipment: Akira carries an M1911 pistol, a switchblade with decorative Japanese writing engraved in the hilt, and an untraceable cellphone at all times. Everywhere he goes Akira drives a flashy high end yellow motorcycle.

Magic: Akira's magic could be considered as a type of Advanced Telekinesis. Not only does he have the ability to move objects with his mind, but he may also manipulate and regenerate objects or surfaces, for example: With the power of regeneration Akira can hold a rock in one hand and regenerate an exact copy of the rock in the other hand, or if he's touching the side of a car, he can regenerate a fully functional and mobile copy of the car right next to the original. With the power of manipulation Akira can hold a rock in his hand and manipulate it's shape to look like a dog statue, or lift a car into the air and manipulate it to be nothing more than a hunk of metal. Those are merely examples though, the possibilities of what Akira can do with this magic are endless, the more creative his mind, the more effective this magic can be.

This particular version of Telekinesis may be used offensively and defensively. Defensively say Akira is in a room with a concrete floor (or any solid surface like metal or wood) and being shot at, he may raise the ground beneath him and create a concrete shield. Offensively, he can instead raise the ground beneath the shooter and launch him or her into the air. Since Akira is fairly young the size and amount of what he's attempting to manipulate/regenerate must be taken into consideration. With ease he could turn one rock into fifty, but turning one car into two would take significantly more concentration.

Personality: Akira acts carefree and laid back about everything at all times but this is only an image, he loves attention and finds joy in acting childish. He's very confident in his ability and hides away emotions, refusing to admit or show any type of weakness due to a stubborn attitude, but Akira will express his feelings and opinions very loudly and without restrictions. He's very straightforward and honest with people, always speaking his mind, and loves to poke his nose into people's business. He has a sense of humor, always turning everything into a joke. When it comes to things like work and school he usually slacks off and refuses to give any real amount of effort merely because he's bored, or doesn't really think what he's doing matters. Although he does stupid things and may come off as immature, lazy, and unprofessional, Akira is very intelligent, and knows when to take things seriously. Akira can be very passionate and sincere when he wants too and put all of his heart into achieving a goal. He's a good person, always going out of his way to help those he cares about, no matter the consequences. His energetic and straightforward personality reflects his actions, "Think before you act" isn't really his style. Akira lives in the moment.

Bio: Akira is an orphan, and has no memories or recollection of his parents, only that they sent him to an orphanage a few months after his birth. Born in Kyoto, Japan, Akira lived a small portion of his life in an orphanage where he was a troublemaker, leaving the orphanage on a regular basis to cause as much havoc a child could in the city. Due to lack of controlling his magic, Akira would occasionally harm other children and adults, he was constantly bullied at the orphanage and at school as a result. At age 8, Akira's troublemaking behavior caught the attention of a local Bōsōzoku gang who had connections with the Yakuza. These gang members took a liking to Akira and accepted him as their own.

For a few months Akira spent his days with these gang members, hanging out with them everyday after school, going wherever it was they were going and acting out as they did. Rather than bullying and disciplining his magic, the gang members were impressed, and encouraged Akira to use his magic more. With no parents or role models, Akira looked up to these gang members. Eventually they introduced him to members of the Marutomi Rengokai, a local Yakuza branch. It was here Akira was introduced to Kaito Takizawa, a high ranking family member of the Yakuza who had visited from Tokyo on business. Kaito admired Akira's bond with the branch, as well as his magical powers. It was that very day Kaito decided to adopt Akira, and returned to Tokyo with him. Upon arrival, Akira was highly respected and practically treated like royalty in Tokyo by the Yakuza as well as the locals, but he didn't become spoiled or selfish, he was ecstatic to finally have a family, and at 10 years old became an official member.

As Yakuza influence in Houston rapidly increased, more and more members from Japan branches moved to Houston. Kaito himself was among these members, and was to supervise Yakuza operations in Houston. Akira was 14 years old when he and Kaito moved to Houston. By now Kaito had risen to the rank of oyabun amongst the Yakuza (family boss), and as a result was hardly ever home due to business. It was around this time Texas seceded from the United States, and the Governor brought up the bill to keep track of all magic users. By now Akira was old enough to take part in assignments and missions among the Yakuza. With Kaito mostly out of the country, Akira was free to do as he please among the changing city. He grew up amongst the confusion and was practically raised by the chaos and corruption of Houston, for years spending his days as a Yakuza Gang Member, taking part in riots and causing trouble in school. As tension and violence in the city grew, Akira could see the powder keg that lay before him, and refused to stand by and watch the city destroy itself, but being the foster child of a Yakuza Boss could only get you so far.

Now, 19 years old and out of high school, Akira realizes the only one's taking up arms to save the city are Operation Freedom. If he's going to do any real damage, it's going to be among their ranks.

Personality: Dean is very cautious, uptight and generally quiet given the current situation. He misses how everything was, and it shows in his personality. But if he manages to lighten up, people will see that he likes to have fun, has a sense of humor, and ironically loves to talk, he just doesn't. He hates to form bonds in fear that they'll just be ripped away by the monsters, and so he stays silent.

History: Before the monsters entered everyone's lives, Dean lived a pretty normal life. He attended high school, and had generally good grades, participated in a couple of clubs, and was on the baseball team. His life really wasn't anything special, but he would give everything to have it back.

Dean managed to get into a university somewhere in California, along with 2 of his closest friends. They dreamed to go to college together, and it was coming true, so they celebrated, and decided to make the drive there from Columbus, Ohio. Upon their arrival, they witnessed the horror and first sightings of these monsters that inhabit the world today. The University had experienced an outbreak. Dean and his friends ran, sticking together, and decided to return home to their families. Unfortunately, they never made it back. Whilst driving one of the creatures jumped in front of their vehicle, causing them to skid off road, the car flipped, killing both his friends, and injuring Dean.

From there on, Dean did his best to survive in the forest, healing his wound as best he could and carving a spear out of wood. To his luck, a group of 5 survivors were making their way through the forest to a cabin owned by one of them, and found Dean in the forest. They took him in.

For a year Dean lived with these people, going back and forth from town, salvaging what they could. Compared to the situation they were living a safe enough life, until one night, on their way back to the cabin, one of the creatures had tailed them. Catching the group by surprise, it managed to infect one of the members of the group, and he another, until only Dean was left. He gathered what he could, hopped in their car and was off.

He was distraught. These people were his friends, and now only mindless creatures. From here on he developed trust issues, in fear he would experience the pain of a loss once more. Dean began his journey back to Columbus, Ohio, in search of his family.

Kasus

Name: Kasus

Personality: Being cooped up in a merchants shop all his life hasn't stopped Kasus from growing into his hyperactive, energetic nature. It's easy to mistake him for the reckless type due to his loud mouth and straightforward attitude, but he's well aware of his actions. He's just really honest. Although he comes off as intimidating, he can be very friendly, and enjoys being around others, almost as much as he loves to be the center of attention. Kasus will go out of his way to help his friends and those in need, he always puts people before himself, and has a natural longing for adventure. He feels life is meant for more than sitting around Lunaris learning the merchants trade. He dreams to leave the world on one of the many gummi ships he see's everyday, and discover what the universe has to offer. It wouldn't hurt to make a few friends along the way, though.

History: Kasus has spent his whole life on Lunaris. He doesn't remember much about his parents, and for reasons unknown to him, he can't help but picture them wearing white robes. Around the time Kasus was 5 years old, his parents left home without explaining why, and have never returned. He was told that his parents had gone missing, and were presumed deceased, forcing Kasus to live in an orphanage for a few years. The only thing connecting him and his parents is his fathers Blade of Valor, which he left for Kasus. Eventually, a merchant by the name of Fargo adopted Kasus, taking him in and teaching him the merchants trade. Fargo owned a shop called "Lunar Goods", Which sold various trinkets and mementos from other worlds. This required Kasus to encounter many people from many worlds, and sparked his longing for adventure.

Kasus has lived with Fargo for ten years, and from time to time would head out to the beach, practicing with his Blade of Valor on rocks, boxes, and junk that the shop never sold. A wizard once arrived to the shop, and took a liking to Kasus, giving him a book of titled "Fire". After a year of practice, Kasus was able to teach himself the Fire spell.

According to Fargo, Kasus is to inherit Lunar Goods, and carry on its "Legacy," unbeknownst to Fargo, Kasus plans to save up enough money and eventually sell the shop to purchase his very own gummi ship, and go off into the universe, living his dream and exploring the universe, uncovering the secrets and mystery's it has to offer. Unfortunately, this day has yet to come, and so Kasus waits.

SUNSHINE LOLLIPOP AND CANDY CANES

Name: Toby Turner

Age: 18

Appearance:

Standing at 5'8" and weighing around 145lbs. it's not hard to mistake Toby for a young athlete, which is ironic because he isn't really into sports. Constant outside activity as well as some recreational hobbies have kept Toby pretty much in shape. If he were to cut get a haircut he could pass as a 21 year old, however his passion for dressing like a child and messy blonde hair make him look quite a few years younger.

Personality: Toby's personality is as colorful and bright as the clothes he wears. Dancing in public to his favorite song, running through the toy aisles of a store, nothing is beyond him. He purposefully acts like a child because he was never happier than when he was a child. With the attitude and behavior of a little kid it's no surprise he gets excited over the slightest things, a good grade on a homework assignment or a simple compliment is enough to skyrocket his mood. Optimistic to the point where it's almost ridiculous, it's a rare thing to see Toby complain or pout over anything, so one would think he just doesn't care about anything or he bottles up his emotions, but both of those statements are completely untrue. He's beyond appreciative of friends, family, really anybody that's nice to him, and will not hesitate to make his emotions known. He comes off as loud and childish, but he just has endless thoughts and feelings and want's to talk about them all. People aren't afraid to open up or talk to him because he's completely straightforward and honest with everybody, no matter who they are, or think they are. Toby treats everybody equally and isn't afraid to speak his mind, in fact he encourages others to do so. Do what makes you happy, be with those that make you happy, live your life however you want and don't listen to what others have to say about it, this is what he believes in.

His behavior, as childish and naive it may be, should not be mistaken as a lack of common sense. He's well aware of how he acts and how others may perceive him. It's more of an act than anything, he won't admit it but he loves to be the center of attention, so he can be really loud and unpredictable at times with his attitude, but it's all for the purpose of fun and entertaining himself and others. As expected Toby may sometimes act immature when it comes to following instructions or behaving properly. But this is never out of spite or simply to be a nuisance, he just hates boredom and prefers to do some things his own way. In a moments notice an essay on habitat destruction will suddenly turn into a five page short story about a squirrel searching for his home that was torn down by giant robots. Usually if he finds a subject or task boring and pointless he won't give it the time of day, but if something interests Toby he'll give one hundred and ten percent. He is not quick to give up on anything and can be very persistent.



It's not all sunshine and rainbows though for Toby, (but he certainly thinks of both on a daily basis) sadly he has serious trust issues and doesn't like to rely on others. As a result he has a few friends but not really somebody he can call a best friend. There are days Toby is stressed and overwhelmed, but he's forced to keep these feelings to himself. These trust issues were brought up due to abandonment and, who would have thought, heartbreak. When a naive, optimistic teenager with the mind of a five year old has deep feelings for somebody and those feelings are returned, a sort of "What could go wrong" state of mind occurs for Toby. Romance is his weakness, but he's not a fool about it, he's not going to fall in love with every girl that shows interest in him. But when he finds somebody worth pouring his heart out too he will not hold back the slightest. Blinded by his emotions he won't realize until it's too late that things can and usually will go wrong, you can imagine something such as a heartbreak can be very hard for somebody like him to cope with and understand.

Trust issues, heartbreak, and mean people aside, fun! Toby. Loves. Fun. He loves to have fun, with himself, with others, with whatever. It doesn't take a lot for him to have a good time and his hyper childish mindset can make it last for a long time. It's difficult to match his energy, he's like a MacGyver of happiness. Even though he can entertain himself with ease he prefers being around his few friends and family, he dislikes feeling alone and constantly wants to do things or be around others. Having Toby as a friend can be fun but sometimes a little tiring. While some would prefer to sit around and relax he prefers going outside or walking around town, playing fun games like cops and robbers or hide and seek, just being active and doing whatever sounds like fun at the time. His imagination is just as hyper and endless. He loves bright colors, the outdoors, sweets and junk food, cartoons, unicorns, dinosaurs, rainbows... you get the idea. Endless energy and imagination have resulted in many outlets for Toby to flourish. He has notebooks littered with random drawings and loves to read books and solve puzzles, anything that can keep his mind active. Music is a big part of his life, at age ten his grandmother bought him a piano for christmas and he spent weeks and weeks in his room, teaching himself to play. He loves to recall the days he spent in his grandmothers house, dancing around the living room to oldies. At the rare moments Toby is bored or being forced to wait, he loves to sing to himself, sometimes songs by his favorite artist or even just about the environment around him. It really is as if he lives in his own world.

When it comes to socializing not an ounce of shyness will reside in Toby's mind. If one can manage to calm him down they'll find out that Toby loves to talk about pretty much anything (jf he likes you of course) he's beyond friendly and easily impressed, but at times can be a bit of a dork. Toby loves to persistently poke at others feelings, thoughts and emotions. Not to be annoying or anything he just likes to dissect people that interest him and find out what makes them tick. He dislikes followers and wants everybody to speak up for themselves, he won't hesitate to stand up for somebody no matter the consequence.

Backstory: "Weird" is one word that could describe Toby's life, or at least his childhood. There really wasn't anything wrong but constantly Toby felt like something was missing, which could be a result of growing up without a father. He lived with his mother, grandmother, and younger sister, but living in a house of women didn't stop him from becoming a feisty, hyper kid who spent his days outside riding his bike and playing with his friends or just sitting on the couch drawing and watching cartoons. A lack of attention inevitably lead to Toby becoming a class clown in school, a petty troublemaker that made the other students laugh and stressed out his teachers. Life wasn't particularly normal but it was simple, and looking back those years as a kid were some of his best.

It was his teenager years where things began to take a different, unpleasant direction. Toby absolutely hated middle school, suddenly watching cartoons, playing with toys and wearing shirts of his favorite superhero's were all considered "uncool" and "nerdy", all his friends changed practically overnight and Toby was suddenly alone. He refused to surrender to the ridicule, but the isolation was too much, so he joined the school band merely because being called a band geek felt a little better than being called a loser, plus it was nice to have people to actually talk too. Toby spent three very long years trying to survive.

High school, without a doubt, was much worse. A lot worse, but for different reasons. It wasn't the bullying (which was still pretty bad) or the loneliness which he had pretty much gotten used too, it was the death of his grandmother. It came unexpectedly and relentlessly, sending Toby into a spiraling depression. The saying "You don't know what you've got until it's gone" became terribly relevant. His grandmother always encouraged Toby to be himself and do what makes him happy, whenever school was too much she was always there to cheer him up, but now Toby felt more alone than ever. His freshman year felt like a long, gloomy decade.

The following summer he had somewhat of an epiphany, a realization that life, well, kinda sucked. Toby's constant effort dissolved, and transformed into the person he is today. He was never happier than his time spent as a child, so he decided to remain a child. His confidence soared the following school year, the bullying and ridicule didn't even phase him, he said what he wanted, did what he wanted, Toby took control of his life and this brand new confident attitude caught the attention of a few others, who admired his bravery and felt the same as he did.

With a small group of friends to call his own, closure, and newfound confidence, the next few months went by smoothly and happily for Toby. He was more of a child now than ever and cherished his friends and family greatly. Eventually, this brand new Toby also caught the attention of a girl. He wasn't foreign to girls or relationships (nor was he any good at either) but right away this was different. Toby had found his high school sweetheart, he was in love, and spent two years far beyond cloud nine.

This didn't last, as i'm sure you've pieced together. In fact, one month before graduating and entering the world, things took a sudden turn for the worst, practically overnight. Toby's relationship with the girl of dreams had ended, not in a "this isn't working out" kind of way, but a "i cheated on you multiple times" kind of way. Not even a week later, his mother was hospitalized due to a car crash. Both Toby and his sister were forced to find jobs to support the family, who were now in debt.

Extra: "Do you like swimming? Do you guys swim here? I can hold my breath for like, 3 minutes. I really like swimming haha it's fun, I kind of close my eyes sometimes and pretend i'm floating in space, except like, if space was wet, or something. Heh."

What did you wish for?: "It's really unfair, because nobody warns you. Nobody like, grabs you by the shoulders and says hey, everything is really gonna suck, and you're gonna be really sad, and it doesn't ever really get better you just kinda learn to deal with it y'know. That's not fair. I grew up under the impression I can be whatever I want and everything's gonna be fine but i'm like two weeks away from graduating and I don't know what i'm gonna do with my life, that's stupid! We don't have any money for college, and college sounds dumb anyways. I want to be a kid again. I want to wake up everyday and eat my grandma's breakfast while I watch cartoons and stuff y'know. And ride my bike too, and draw and all that stuff like, I want that. Forever."

Accents In Roleplays.

I recently wrote a post introducing two british characters, both of them speak in english accents. The RP is currently in a period where all of the members have creative control over the posts and a bunch of us have been adding NPC's simply because it makes the story as well as writing much more fun.

Toby and Namine chased the item box as it flew through the air. Both of them managed to catch up to the item, simultaneously grabbing the box as they sped through the air parallel to eachother, moving at the same pace. Both riders now found themselves playing tug of war with the item box. "You're lucky I promised my mom I wouldn't hit girls!" Toby shouted and began to pull with all of his strength. "Yeah? Well you're lucky my hands are on this box, otherwise i'd punch you right in the throat-WHOA!" As Namine yelled her comeback at the boy, he intentionally released his grip on the box, causing the girl to spin 360 degrees on her hoverboard. As gravity brought Namine back to an upright position she was momentarily disoriented whilst attempting to regain her balance "Son of a carrot" She muttered. Toby didn't hesitate to snatch the item from her hands.

"Mine!" He shouted with joy, where as the girl immediately bent down, grabbing his hoverboard and pulling it from beneath him, causing Toby to reel backwards and release his grip of the item allowing Namine to take possession of the box once more "Mine," She said in a sarcastic tone as to mock the boy. Toby once again found himself flying upside down. A troublesome smirk overcame him once more as he suddenly spun himself in a circle whilst flying upside down, using his hoverboard to launch the item out of Namine's hands through the air and into another riders possession.





"Hm? Yves, seem's an item box has made it's way into your hands."

"It appears so. Today must be my lucky day." Yves studied the item box in his hands curiously, as if he was intrigued by it's presence. "Out of all the days. I'd say that's quite fortunate, wouldn't you Landon?"

"Quite fortunate indeed"

The two seasoned veterans spoke in what seemed to be english accents. Both Landon and Yves intentionally decided to pull back from the lead as to avoid the mayhem caused by Ace. The two were a perfect example of the saying "slow and steady wins the race," and took the competition a bit too serious. Yves waited patiently for the slot machine to come to a stop. Once it did, his face remained blank, as did Landon's. Even so there was still a hint of arrogance surrounding the two.

"Not a bad item," Landon said, Yves gave the box a look of distaste, "It would've been much more useful had I obtained it earlier,"

Toby eventually regained his posture and balance, the boy was quite irritated, even to the point where his cheeks were starting to turn a little red. "Hey! Numbskull! That's my item!" He shouted and with haste began to ascend towards Yves, blinded by his sudden obsession to claim the item box for himself. Namine's eyes suddenly grew wide as she realized what item the box had provided. "Wait, hey stop! Stay away from him!"

"Mine as well use it now," Yves spoke in a non-chalant tone and turned his attention towards Toby, aiming what appeared to be some type of pistol in his right hand. "I'm really kinda getting super annoyed, I saw it first an-OH! Oh geez, what is that?" Steam began to shoot out of two holes in the pistol which began to make a sound similar to that of a teapot whistling. The sound of a gunshot shook the audience as a pointed bullet whizzed through the air and lodged itself into Toby's hoverboard. Within moments the hoverboard began to shoot out steam as well and gradually started slowing down. "Oh no, oh no no no come on, what did you do!" In my opinion the two characters somewhat added a little bit of variety due to their uptight, no nonsense intellectual attitude, where as the other characters are all eccentric, silly and generally cheery. The accent wasn't necessary, but I feel like it helped distinguish not only the way they sounded and appeared from the other characters but also their personality.I think effectively making a character seem unique or different from other characters solely depends on the context of the story at the time as well as the other characters. If Landon and Yves spoke like the rest of the characters, they would probably come off as narcissistic jerks, however because of their english accent's they instead come off as intellectual snobs.

Is this stereotypical? No. At least, not in the context of this story, which takes place in a world where tree's talk and donuts dance. England doesn't even exist in this story, but the accents distinguish the characters effectively because they are currently the only ones that speak in english accents.

TL;DR in my opinion writing and giving characters accents being a good idea depends on the context of the story. Does it make sense for this character to have an accent? Does it effectively distinguish your character from the others? What accent is he/she/it speaking in? All depends on the context, heh.
