It's bad that it happens, discrimination's bad all around, but systematic/legal discrimination bugs me more than gangs being assholes. Gangs aren't considered part of the norm/default, and their actions aren't considered or argued to be acceptable or just. They don't have legal authority over anyone, either. Which you will see with cases like these. An African American would never get away with trying to justify doing the same thing to someone white as the reverse does.

Worst thing is people who go on about how the U.S. is actually discriminatory against people who have traditionally had more rights and power, and this is all just a fantasy created to justify and perpetuate that discrimination.

Yes. This is exactly why the developers will continue making Pokemon games. For the eeveelutions.

It's not a hard-core science experiment, but it sounds like it researches/looks into records, references. etc. to get a conclusion.

The question is broad, but it basically seems to be, "What are the results of these hostage negotiations, and how do various factors impact it?"
I'm only glimpsing at it, and someone might give you a more focused statement, but there's definitely a question and answer you can interpret from that article.
