I've been stalking this for a bit, and am currently brainstorming concepts. Hopefully there is enough to bring this idea to life.

I'm set on running it so long as I can get at least three or four decent submissions. I have a massive amount of content here and it's a unique character perspective for an RP. Would be a shame if it died stillborn.

Oh, I must have forgotten about the part where the archdemon is the only one capable of having control while it's around. Alright, so we'll scrap that part. Maybe he just ends up taking in an unprecedented amount of the darkspawn taint, kind of like Ruck. Does the game ever say what would happen if a Grey Warden were to be put in a situation like that? I'm assuming they wouldn't just die or go insane, or at least not as quickly as or in the same way a normal person would.

One of the DLC stories in DA 2 deals with a highly corrupted Warden. That one did essentially become like Ruck but he retained more of his intellectual faculties It took a powerful darkspawn to force him to succumb to the taint before his time. Normally they can resist it into their 40s or 50s so unless there is some corrupting influence, Alistair would be far too young.
That's cool Avery. I'm unsure if we'll get enough interest to run this, though. So far even the few people who've expressed interest have all flaked out on me.

Spent the morning studying Lysander Spooner. Did not even know this guy existed until I read your bumper.
Just my 2 cents, but I would caution against multiple GMs unless we truly need them due to group size and game scope. You invite in multiple possible issues when you have multiGMs.

21308 said My first thought was of am Alistair who survived by learning to use the darkspawn disease inside him to control them.

That's kinda silly. If the Horde isn't defeated than there is still an archdemon. Hey Horde this is Alistair, you know that kinda dopey Grey Warden who failed to defeat you, yeah I know your minds are bent under the control of an Ancient Corrupted God-Entity, but if you could follow my instructions instead that would be just swell.

Even the Architect and the Mother, those awakened darkspawn demi-gods from the sequel, could not gain influence until the Archdemon had fallen.
You hooked me with your concept of an alternate timeline. If I could make a suggestion, often these RPs veer away from using canon characters, but due to your plot, the use of canon characters would be fascinating for you could see an alternate development for the character. Like what if Alistair, after the tragedy of the loss, changed from his good humored self into a far dark and ruthless Warden? If I were doing this I would allow the PCs to play canon characters if they wanted, just to emphasize that 'alternate timeline' feel.

Bounced over this way from your interest check. I will begin working up a character scheme in the format provided, I was thinking of a Djinn that revels in playing roles in both courts to increase his own power and influence, playing both sides against the middle if you will. Would this be feasible? I was thinking he could be appear to be a moderately influential court member in a Seelie court and a more secretive agent provocateur for the Unseelie, using both sides to advance his own agenda.

That's very intriguing idea and quite doable.

CAST

Addar ibn Nahbeeh (Seelie Djinn Noble), played by Avery Calhoun
Laoch Chosaintóir (Wandering Sidhe Knight), played by Pathfinder
Guntha ('Inspirational' Troll Mercenary Band Leader), played by Cautious Cretin

There exists another world, surviving beneath the notice of our own big world, a smaller, fast-paced realm that hides beneath the cracks in our floorboards and between the long seconds of our clocks, a world populated by a diverse race of entities called by many names in many different cultures: Piskie, Pukwudgie, Kobold, Brownie, Borrower,... Fairy. These beings have lived beside us, all but invisible, for hundreds of thousands of years, but the digital age, cities of roving cameras and smartphone wielding citizens present a new challenge to those who survive only by remaining unseen and unknown.

This RP, set in the near future, takes place in the hidden world of the fairy and follows the little people as they adapt to the new information age and its digital technology, applying both magic and mischief to these new tools in order to overcome the challenges of remaining undetected in a wired world. Roughly based on films like The Borrowers, Epic, and Spiderwick Chronicles, it takes the view that fairies avoid human awareness through their extremely small size, their high paced temporal frame of reference (they're fast), and their ability to rift spacetime opening up pocket dimensions with unique laws of physics, so called fairy-lands.

Players will be able to choose from a number of fairy clans, nations and species all with unique abilities, glamers (fairy magic), cultures, and their own 'territory' (the part of the human or natural world that they claim as theirs and are adapted to). The RP will also contain a faction element as the fey will be split into two camps, Seelie and Unseelie, based on their views as to the relationship between fairy and humankind as well as their opinions on technology. The amount of overlap between the factions will depend, like everything else in the RP, on player choice.

For our setting, I will be choosing a modern metropolis, but one with enough diverse habitats, ranging from urban to rural, that just about any kind of fairy will be open for the players.

So I will put up an OOC so that people who want to get started can post character sheets, but I still think we may be short players.

*dies* this is honestly the EXACT sort of RP I'm into! I love your concept :D I'm in if this gets off the ground.

Excellent. If you have any ideas or concepts you'd like to see worked in, go ahead and pitch them at me.

I'm pretty sure we can make this happen. If we can only get a handful of players then I can just remove the faction element and have the PCs in a single troop and let them decide as a group what their court affiliation will be, if any.
