maxwell smiles in return, liking the girl and wishing to talk to her some more, but he'd obviously over stayed his welcome and didn't wish to intrude any longer so as to avoid angering her, leaving a note to request her presence three steps from her porch at 7:06 AM. tommorow, explaining that he'd have his assitant fill in for her before leaving and disappearing through a cloud of black smoke as a choked scream of absolute terror rings out three steps off the porch of the cafe patio
she finds her advances being forced into circles, not really defending so much as keeping everything important out of her reach while letting her have the random things to let her feel like she's winning as her advances leave her mind entirely open. "if i didn't wish to know then i wouldn't be asking... you know, girl, you remind me of my assistant charlie, she was one for mind games as well, but i digress, now tell me what you're holding back. i wish to know why you want this damn coin so badly" maxwell says evenly, not even slightly frightened and in fact her leans in to her, to speak face to face with her, his mind out of her reach while her's would be easibly overtaking and cracked open like an egg thrown full force at the ground. yet maxwell allows her to answer, seeing through her bubbly charade and enjoying the challenge of facing something deemed "foreign" as he was highly bored of the same things, over and over. ((you keep saying she's reacting to me but i'm using maxwell not my me char. also, maxwell's no stranger to minds that are deemed "not understandable" so even with that monicure she's still open to him mentally))

i hug her and keep petting her my faint smile fading
"then i would gather that using such a magic as this would require a side effect from the bargainer... what would that be?" maxwell asks, linking with her through the magic's mental state and preparing to gather the information if she refuses to answer, while remaining undetected through his intense... "training"
"then what's with the magic?" maxwell asks, obviously not buying until he gets a full explanation despite how nice the girl is or how nice the deal sounds

"Hardly... smile more." Pet says and purrs louder.
"i'm feeling ill" i say evenly as i pet her, my smile remaining faint
"and what, might i ask, is the other cost to such a meal?" maxwell asks calmly, noticing the faint feeling of magic and know that such an order wouldn't cost so little without something more in the way of mystical binding or curse, which he could currently do without, the last one still bringing up annoying itches at times. despite all the foreboding atmosphere he takes a quarter from his pocket but doesn't hand it over, awaiting his answers

maxwell continues reading until he finds things he might want such as sandwhiches made from the flesh of slowly tortured and brutally murdered murder victims, tea made with nightshade and laced with ravings from mad men given corporeal form, and just some normal scones with fruit that was fertilized with the corpses of a universe wide genocide where each captured victim was flayed, stabbed repeatedly, forced to watch opra, and then finally killed by impalement as their family watched and awaited their turn. after finding these items maxwell lays down the menu and awaits patiently for the girl to return, planning on making this establishment a regular visit for tea

"yes?" i ask with a faint smile, petting her gently and hugging her to me with the same arm
