I'm new to the RP forum format but have played various pen & paper RPGs over the years. Well...that's not entirely accurate, I have hosted/DM'd various RPs over the years but I rarely get to participate as a player.
I am a big fan of and would be interested in Star Wars, Warhammer Fantasy & 40k, Serenity/Firefly, zombie/survival horror, post apocalyptic worlds-Mad Max,Fallout,Escape from NY ect
Recently my core group has split up and I've been trying to come up with ideas on how to keep the party together across state lines and eventually I ended up here. I'm not entirely sure I understand the mechanics of what's going on,but it all seems like something I'd/we'd be interested in.
I have a few questions if someone would be kind enough to answer-
1. How does the scene/story move forward? Some posts I've read seem each person is describing or doing their own thing-what happens when people interact? How do you prevent godmoding between posters?
2. Are there character sheets with stats, talents, skills ect.? I know this also probably varies from game to game.
3. How does combat & skill checks resolve themselves? Are there still some sort of dice roll equivalent for game mechanics?
I'm sure I'll have more but it's late and that's all I can think of...
