Volkun turned away from the pod. He began taking a few careful steps forward, testing his balance. Once he was confident that he was ready to walk, he looked back up and continued through the rows of pods. He glanced into a few of them and grimaced, bearing his fangs at the strange creatures. None of them were his kind, only disfigured beings from, presumably, other worlds. He continued walking aimlessly until he noticed something out of the ordinary. One of the pods was open. He narrowed his eyes and began stomping over to it. His clawed fingers curled, ready to rip and tear if he needed to.

"Is someone there? Show yourself!" He shouted loudly. He stopped for a moment and closed his eyes. His ears flattened against his head, his head suddenly aching from the shouting. After a few seconds it faded, and he continued moving forward. He wasn't sure if the creature, if it was there, understood his language; perhaps it didn't even speak, but he didn't care. It should know that he was aware of its presence, and that was all that mattered.

Anxius bared his teeth in a growl and skidded to a halt in front of the barrier. They also had hissatsu! This was bad; he hadn't planned for this. He wasn't going to give up, however. He turned and ran around the barrier. He faced the wolf and, once again, he quickly leaped towards the wolf, his aim now concentrated on the neck.

Malacia let out a little yelp and managed to slow down enough to only make a soft impact against the barrier. She glanced at Anxius only to see him quickly around the barrier and continue the attack. Taking a deep breath, Malacia followed from the other side. She immediately spotted the rabbit and, without thinking, lunged for it, her jaws gaping.

Shadows passed before his eyes. They swirled around his body, trapping him. He curled his lips upwards in fury, baring his long sharp teeth. He struggled against the binds of shadows. Silhouettes of deformed creatures slid past him. He opened his jaws and let out the most furious and powerful roar he could muster, but no sound came out. The silhouettes moved closer and closer, looking more and more disfigured. The shadow bindings began to continuously tighten. He let out another silent roar, but out of pain. The silhouettes were only a few inches from the tip of his nose and the shadow bindings were seconds from crushing his bones when-

Volkun felt his body move on its own. His arm lashed out and the sound of shattering glass rang in his ears. Pain stabbed at his knuckles and he opened his eyes. He briefly saw his fist dripping blood on the other side of the glass before the blinding light forced him to close his eyes. He carefully slid his arm out of the hole in the glass and hugged his arm to his chest. For a moment it felt like the smoke was returning to bind him in its cruel embrace. He heard the silhouettes speaking to him. His breath became ragged and heavy.

He jumped as he heard a loud impact right next to him. He opened his eyes to find the glass was gone. He raised his hand to cover his eyes from the blinding light. He grabbed the edge of the pod and pulled himself into a sitting position. He moved to climb out of the pod, but collapsed onto the floor with unexpected weakness. He growled in pain and lay flat on the ground. He rolled onto his back and stared at the bright lights. It took a moment before his eyes finally adjusted, but he did not move. His chest rose and fell as he almost gasped for breath. It took a little while before that too was regulated.

He lifted his arm to his face and examined his hand. Blood continued to drip from his knuckles. He proceeded to feel around each knuckle and pull out any fragments of the glass he could find. Once he was sure he removed most of the glass, he struggled to make an effort to stand up. Grabbing onto the pod again, he pulled himself into a crouch and stood up. He swayed dangerously and took a step back to maintain his balance.

He looked around and saw hundreds of other pods like his. He stared at them all in shock. How did they get here? Who took them here? He thought back, trying to remember how he was, presumably, captured, but nothing came to mind. He cursed under his breath and shook his head. He slammed his fist against the edge of the pod, wincing at the pain of his injured knuckles. He was sure if he ever found whoever brought them here, he was going to rip them limb from limb.

"Right, follow my lead."

The two hyenas stalked around the edge of the clearing, staying just far away enough that the animals around the pond would not see them. They stealthily crept to the edge of the forest that the rabbit had its back turned to. "Can't believe we're putting in so much effort for a rabbit," Anxius grumbled quietly as he silently moved closer and closer to the rabbit, "We could have found something bigger and easier to catch by now."

"The rabbit looks so good though," Malacia whispered back with a grin, following close behind him. Anxius rolled his eyes and paused some distance away from the rabbit and studied the situation.

"Doesn't really look like they're trying to kill each other anymore." Anxius commented.

"Really? Soon then?" Malacia asked, perking up slightly.

"Yes, very soon."

Malacia looked back towards the rabbit and hungrily licked her lips.
"Wait for my signal. Don't stop for anything, we should hopefully catch them by surprise. Just run out, grab the rabbit, and run back into the forest. I'll try to slow them down. I'll catch up with you later," Anxius explained.

Malacia nodded, almost shivering with excitement. "Where do I go? And what about you?"

"It's fine, just keep running. I'm the one with the eyes here, I'll find you again."

"If you say so," Malacia replied.

Anxius continued to wait for some time before he turned back to Malacia and said, "Are you ready? I think it's finally time." Malacia nodded and sank into a crouch. "Right then, now!" He tried whispering as loudly as he dared. The two hyenas darted from the forest, headed straight for the wolf and rabbit. Anxius charged directly at the black wolf and, without pausing, leaped for its face, jaws gaping. Malacia, meanwhile, ran as fast as she could towards the rabbit, ready to clamp her jaws on its neck.

((So much time, so late, so little written. I guess I didn't know what I really wanted to do after all! Hope this will do.))

I was thinking mysterious creatures that the government wants to study. Vampires, dragons, werewolves, wookies, whatever you can dream up. You should have some way to communicate with the others.

Alrighty, I think I know what I'll do. I'll try to get a CS up tomorrow.

I have a question about the beings if that's okay. What kinds of beings are we looking at here? Are we leaning more towards humanoid beings that can speak, know "stuff" in general, and might even try coexisting with humans; or are we thinking of mysterious creatures with unknown backgrounds that the government might try covering up and studying in containment?
Interested!

We need to ask Charak whether he's actually going to continue or not. Both MangaArtist and I have been waiting for him, and he seems far too busy with other roleplays.
