The little blue child who presents to you your final, all-encompassing choice at the end of the game: his nickname is the Star Child.

Who is Star Child?

Well let's not get ahead of ourselves. Army of Two: tDC, and Medal of Honor: Warfighter were made with the Frostbite engine too. I have faith in Bioware though.

Kek, if you aren't trolling, you're in for a surprise when you get to the end of three.

Look at the three, bro; it's different from two.
And you are probably in the minority with your faith.

Wait, it's in development??I thought it was still a "maybe" thing they were only talking about.

It's actually in a playable state, from what I've read.

I always laugh at people who pick Miranda for the biotic barrier. You foooools.

It was late at night, my first time through, and I just wanted to get through it; I chose Jacob, and lost Grunt. :/
I wised up on my second run through the base, and ever since have killed Jacob out of spite for unintentionally killing one of my favorite characters.

And no. No idea how to fit myself in.

Have you been chatting with the other newbies? We threw out the suggestion that you guys work on something else to build your own relationships while the rest of us finish our current mission, and then gradually borg them to the rest of Nova. You don't want to do that? Fine; just throw your character somewhere into the party and get them involved with Nova from there.

YEEES! Terry you've saved me! I was not aware of the secret 'Defense Score.' Everybody survived, but boy has that last level lost it's excitement.

Yeah, that's why I began to intentionally kill characters off. It at least makes it more exciting... somehow.
Dudes, it mostly boils down to three things: ship upgrades, loyalty, and picking the right people to do their respective jobs. It doesn't even matter when it comes to other equipment upgrades as each team member has their own innate "defense score" for the hold the line segment. I personally send Tali because of her low score and lack of versatile abilities for the final stretch and because I find Mordin's incinerate to be helpful in that final leg of the game (and because of his own low defense score) along with Kasumi to take out some of the weaker mooks (alternatively Miranda due to her class buff to the entire team). But even then, loyalty bolsters the overall defense score so that who you take to face the larvae doesn't really matter, as long as you send a low score teammate as an escort.
But if you don't have full loyalty, you are going to have to get creative

Where did you all get the impression that actual equipment somehow came into play?

EDIT:

No way man, I've been upgrading everything and I did all the loyalty missions and I picked the right people for the different parts of the mission. They all survive just fine up until I leave to kill the reaper. Maybe it's because I play Renegade?

Weird. Just take Mordin with you then, he should survive if he has loyalty.

Eh, Mark isn't exactly romance material anyway.

Hogwash! Kygg and him have a future yet!

Rather, wait until you and the other new people come up with a good idea of something to do. I for one am too lazy to come to a decision. Consider it your first test as a pre-Nova members: come up with a reasonable way for your characters to meet up with Nova and keep yourselves occupied in the meanwhile.

What he said. The training-wheels come off today; I hope you came with your creativity helmet, elbow and knee pads. (Although a good hint would be to start a private convo between all of you.

Nova's only tied together by Roland. Without him, the Tyrus would be drifting debris orbiting an uninhabited planet, and all the members would be alone for some reason.

Oh you.

EDIT: Aaaaaaaand dat wonderful double post.

Is it possible to romance everybody in a single play through of ME2?

Dervish said
Kinda.

It's also "kinda" possible in this game, too; I, however, highly don't recommend trying it.

I'm up for either, as I said before I'm willing to wait if there be too many, and if I'm in a queue then it's first come first serve. Although I like the idea of trying to repo the Tyrus, be an interesting way to meet members of Nova tbh. Blood Raged Krogan in tight confines vs a novice team of mercs? Sounds like a fair fight to me lol.

Individually, most of them may be skilled, but together…well, they're hardly a cohesive unit. Plus, the clashing egos, their penchant for things to go awry despite any amount of planning they've done beforehand, and particularly my own likelihood of messing things up for my own sadistic pleasure. Actually, one and three usually go hand-in-hand. And before we know it, the Tyrus is wrecked, drifting through space and Nova is short on funds due to the repairs (which in itself could be an idea; the new guys being an even smaller merc group who simply got drunk and ended up vandalizing the ship in their stupor, (or something else along the lines of the Tyrus ending up rather damaged through their actions (e.g. some sort of fire-fight through Omega)) and have to work with Nova for a few missions before becoming full members. Not necessarily making them credible to everyone else right away, but it could create some more interesting internal conflict to the group).

Great idea:

I can definitely support this, and am ashamed I never thought of this before.
But now the question is, can Tanya and Jeanna deal with having their already contested Cargo Bay shrink as room is taken to house the newbies??
Speaking of housing, David is gone, so Mark actually could have his old room.

Also, Mosis's idea sounds solid, and all of our new players (you too Gowi, if you want) could formulate some small plot for themselves to do in the meantime while the rest of Nova completes the current mission. It doesn't even have to splice into what they're doing on Kahje, and we could just add them through some Citadel/Omega/other-hub-world shenanigans/sub-plot.
