I wish you well with what you need to do, Brovo.
You can count me.
I've started the IC, but wait until I approve your characters and add them to a list before you post IC.

Tom Bradley International Terminal
LA International Airport

Olivia looked up at the large screen above her. Every single flight to and from LAX was cancelled. On the right-hand side of the screen, a picture of Chicago was shown. That's where she just got back from, visiting her grandmother in Harvey. Olivia thought about how much her grandmother, a lonely widow, appreciated Olivia's company so much. But yet, the thought of being stranded at the airport with the local state of emergency still had Olivia worried. Every single flight in LAX being cancelled was enough to remind her of that. It's been 4 hours since she arrived, and 2 hours since the state of emergency was declared. The fact that she, and everyone else in LAX, was legally stuck in this airport was just a matter that Olivia knew she had no control over. It's no wonder why Dwayne wasn't able to get here yet. Just another reason why Olivia was worried. Are Mom and Dwayne going to be okay?

Olivia got herself off the bench she was sitting on, and went to one of the fast food restaurants in the terminal. She sat down in a spot where she could watch the TV on the wall, broadcasting news on the local situation in Los Angeles. What was shown on the TV was like something out of a new zombie movie, with those runners instead of the walkers in Romero's films. Two or three dozen people running down the road, all of them seemingly crazed and rabid, screaming in ways that sounded to Olivia like they were both really angry and in excruciating pain. That alone was scary, but what was even scarier is that Olivia recognized where it was. It was a road just a couple blocks away from where Olivia lived with her mother. It even said in that live broadcast on the TV that it was in Inglewood. One of the crazed people, an African-American man in a bloodied white shirt and black shorts, ran up to the camera before it cut out. Olivia was scared for the sake of Mom and Dwayne, and she knew she could not do anything about it, being stuck in the airport. Olivia then remembered that she hadn't prayed for a while now. Not since Dwayne got a twisted ankle playing basketball last month. Olivia thought about how if she can't do it, then maybe God can help. Olivia thought about how maybe now was the time to care about God a little more than she normally did, so she held her hands together on the table, put her head down on them, and prayed so silently that only God could hear her. Dear Lord. I know I haven't been the most faithful follower, but I am deeply concerned about my mother, and my best friend, Dwayne. I'm stuck in the airport and have no way of reaching them, so I hope that you can take care of them through all this crazy shit that's happening. I just want them to be safe, and I hope I'm not asking too much for that. Amen.

A few tears ran from Olivia's closed eyes. She blocked out as many thoughts in her head as she could, hoping for a clearer answer. However, just as she thought she had some silence, a gruff military-type voice blared on the airport's intercom. "Good morning, LAX. This is General Adam Matthias speaking. A quarantine has just been issued across Los Angeles County, and we will be enforcing tighter security measures here. Stay where you are, and listen to any orders you may be given. No one is coming in, and no one is getting out until we resolve the current situation. Failure to comply to these regulations can and will result in severe punishment."

Watching army soldiers coming into the terminal, Olivia burst into tears. What kind of answer is this? She buried her face into her hands at the table. It's as if God wanted her to stay stuck here, not being able to know if her mother and best friend are safe or not. She wanted to curse God, but held it in. A lingering thought gave Olivia the idea that maybe she still has to find God's answer somewhere, but she had no idea. She wanted to just run out of the terminal and walk all the way back home herself, but a sense of logic still remained. She wasn't some hero in a goofy Hollywood movie. If she tried to escape, she would be shot.

So Olivia stayed at the table, and cried. Maybe some kind stranger would come by and try and comfort her, but even if that happened, the fact remained that Olivia was stranded at the airport and that her loved ones were in danger.
Los Angeles, California. It began the previous day when numerous cases of animal attacks and food poisoning popped up around LA County. Hundreds of people were hospitalized in various medical facilities across the county, and all of them reported a sickness that got steadily worse. Come midnight, local police were dispatched to various hospitals around Los Angeles County. Turns out, people were turning into rabid monsters, hell-bent on spreading a mysterious pathogen that had taken them over. A state of emergency was declared at 2:03 AM across LA County, and the military was brought in to contain the outbreak. However, the outbreak simply spread, and a county-wide quarantine was issued at 4:07 AM.

Our story starts at the issuing of the quarantine across LA County, California, at 4:07 AM, June 28th, 2014. We start at the exact moment where we lost the privilege to simply ignore what was going on in different areas across LA County. Only 10% of the population in LA County has turned thus far, but it will only spread more rapidly, and chaos and anarchy is about to erupt as we start the RP.
Current Situation
See map here for reference

Downtown Los Angeles is an absolute mess. The infected are swarming the streets, and some of the office towers here are getting their upper floors filled with the unlucky survivors who didn't get out in time.

East Los Angeles is even worse off than downtown. The LAC+USC Medical Center, one of the areas in LA where the outbreak first got out of hand, is located in this area, right next to Downtown LA. Pretty much everyone here is infected and heading out in all directions.

The West Side, made up by Hollywood, West and Central LA, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Venice, Santa Monica, Bel Air, and Malibu is in pretty bad shape. The outbreak is happening in big patches all around here, and if you don't find trouble with the infected, you're going to find trouble with desperate survivors. The military is fortifying the Hollywood Hills and Griffith Park, hoping to keep a strategic location that allows them to look over the core of the outbreak in Downtown and East LA.

The South Bay region, stretching from LA International Airport, Inglewood, and South LA, down to Compton and the Palos Verdes peninsula, is seeing its share of the chaos. The outbreak is happening here in small patches, and the military is trying to set up some control here. God knows how long the military will be able to keep order around here.

The islands of Santa Catalina and San Clemente are pretty much under strict military control. Santa Catalina has been turned into a massive refugee camp, where people are processed before leaving quarantined LA County, or otherwise being shot for displaying signs of infection.

The Gateway Cities along the border with Orange County, from Long Beach to La Mirada, has been reduced to a no-man's land by Air Force bombings. The whole area is littered with rubble, bodies, smoke, ashes, and military units duking it out with the infected.

The San Fernando Valley was originally considered safe, but reports of infected have been popping up around here. Expect the situation to deteriorate quickly here.

The San Gabriel Valley is safe but getting quite unsteady, and Pasadena currently hosts the central command for US military forces in LA County. The military has this place tightly controlled, as far as anyone knows.

The Santa Clarita Valley is jam-packed with panicky survivors just trying to flee for their lives along Interstate 5. The whole highway is littered with dense, dense traffic, as the military has closed off the northern border.

If you didn't manage to get on Interstate 5, you're probably in the Antelope Valley. Locals here are pissed off, the military is locking this place down tighter than a nun's you-know-what, and best of all? You're in a fucking desert. Wonderful times indeed.

Rules

1. Standard RP Guild rules apply. Read 'em.
2. No Sues, no godmodding, none of that crap here, please. I have the right to reject your character if I feel that they're not balanced out enough.
3. I reserve the right to puppet your character if you have been inactive for 2-3 days, in order to move the RP along. I'll PM you the posts where I've puppeted your character.
4. I want this RP to be a collaborative effort beyond IC posts, and what you can do to help with that is be active in the OOC, talk with fellow players and me, and just be social. If you've got an idea, suggestion, question, criticism, etc. that you want to share, then share it!
5. Post your character sheet in the CS thread. Don't post IC until I say you can!
6. You can travel anywhere within the boundaries I've set around Los Angeles County, but know this. The RP stays within those boundaries. When and if your characters pass that boundary line, they're out of the RP, regardless of whether they're escaping in one piece or not.
7. Have fun! If you're not having fun, then maybe this isn't the best RP for you.
This RP is still open.

Tommy before going homeless

Name: Thomas "Tommy" Rodgers
Gender: Male
Age: 30
Appearance: Tommy has quite a rounded face for his age. He used to have a more in-between form, but living life homeless has made him quite lean. He has blue eyes and dark brown hair. Since he's homeless, he now has medium-length He stands at about 5 feet 9 inches and weighs 150 pounds. He wears his glasses, a navy blue hoodie, black sweat pants, and black work boots.
Strengths and Weaknesses, Quirks and Traits: On one hand, Tommy is smart, quick to adapt, and does a damn fine job at finding what he needs, like food, water, and shelter. On the other hand, he is socially inept, unable to make friends, and is prone to psychotic delusions and hallucinations. He's pretty hardy and can take a beating, but is by no means invincible, and he prefers to avoid people as much as he can.
A Brief History: Tommy was heavily picked on in school for being different from all the other kids. He walked weird, he talked weird, and he was as charismatic as a cannibalistic hermit with Tourettes. Come college, he did manage to make a few friends, and even had a girlfriend too. However, he ended up on a medication that caused him psychosis, and he started to believe that those he was close to were turning against him. It all ended in one blood-soaked night, when Tommy murdered and ate his girlfriend. Luckily for him, he evaded the police. Unluckily for him, all his chances at leading a normal life were destroyed, and he had no choice but to live on the streets, homeless and unknown, lest the police find him. For the past 8 years, Tommy's lived in sewers and abandoned subway tunnels, eating rats and other hobo delicacies. Sometimes, Tommy would head up to the surface to find some trash to rummage through. This time, he went a step further and entered a shop for the first time in years. A strange one like no other. Fortunately, the police didn't catch him. Unfortunately, the store owners did, and now Tommy has found himself on this deserted island, seemingly a human pawn in some sadistic game.
Beo, I'll send you my CS when I do it.
Plus, we could help you set up the OOC if you wanted, right?
I don't mind at all. I'm probably going to puppet characters if players are inactive when a character is needed.
