As Ashley carefully explains the situation, Wiper simply shoots Sarash in the stomach, then shoots James a few times to keep him down. Then an explosion blows him out of the building, as his burned remains crash to the sidewalk. That'll take a while to heal. Wiper then uses this distraction to interpose itself between Ashley and the portal, pointing the gun at her.

There was one in James and Sarah's they came in through a portal to AND BOUGHT THE APARTMENT WHERE THEY CAME THROUGH…and it was the only rift for 5 years…as far as we know
