Liwei raced through the building, footwork fast and steady with practiced ease from years of marathon running and casual jogs through parks. He crossed the sterile floor to the primary office. The room was dark, but he was familiar with the layout. With a bit of grunting, he managed to feel around for a set of keys to one of the vans. He locked the cabinet back up and then made his way outside, shutting the heavy metal door behind him. He padded across the lot to the van indicated by a number in red permanent marker on the key. He lurched open the door and shoved the key into the van, allowing it to spark to life in the dry desert air. So far, so good. The gate was still open, so he heaved a sigh of relief and allowed himself to slide down into the seat and wait.
Misha moaned in her state of partial consciousness. She clawed at the bed as she felt the restraints being unstrapped, but she felt too weak to lift her body. Her thoughts felt fuzzy and dull. She hoped someone would help her, but it didn't seem likely. She weakly cursed the state she was in before lapsing back into unconsciousness.
Dione laughs, lulled into believing everything is alright. She starts making a joke, but her eyes move to the group through the trees and she stops. She holds up a hand to stop Sacha. "I don't recognize some of those people, Sacha. And Amby isn't there." She narrowed her eyes and scowled, though it looked like a pout on her soft face.

Sacha nods. "Well find him, don't worry." She makes her way through the trees, heading for the border, towards where Destin and the others are, of course.

[oh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit]

Dione scurried through the woods after Sacha, her shoes scratching on leaves and bark. She didn't mind. Her thoughts were far more occupied with Ambrose: she sifted through fond memories of his warm smile, his kind words, the heat of his body as the earth grew cold and a harsh winter approached. She smiled despite herself, but then she shook with the realization that, if something happened, she would no longer have any of these things. It was a harrowing thought. He was one of the few good things to happen to her. She wasn't sure what she would do if he was gone. She steeled herself with a comforting thought - she would probably find him near the border, safe as always. It was most likely a simple misunderstanding.
Dione nods quickly, gathering herself. "I'm right behind you." She lowers her voice a bit and dissolves into the trepidation plaguing her mind. "I really hope we find him," she whispers softly, clenching her fists to steel herself into determination rather than fear.
Dione fidgeted with her hands. She knew Ambrose could handle himself, but she didn't trust the two Brom prisoners, despite their injuries and diminutive stature. "What do we do? Shouldn't we go search for them?"
misha: less ded now

Liwei crossed the room, dragging Ambrose behind him lightly. "Sir, he seems to be much more willing now." He gave the boy a reassuring look. "I sent Mona to send them over," he replied, nodding at The Boss. His work down, he turned to leave. Before he exited the door, he glanced back. "Oh, sir?" He paused. "Good luck with the experiment."

Liwei nods and gestures for Ambrose to step inside. He follows him and turns the corner with a huff, eyes searching for The Boss. "Hey, sir! I have the subject you asked for, but I have some pertinent paperwork to deal with, so I have to be off." He gave an apologetic shrug. This plan had better work, he thought. Or else that girl is dead and Ambrose might end up even worse off.

Misha: *ded*

Dione's face scrunched up in thought as she drew her mind back to her last memory of Ambrose. "Oh, it was this morning. It wasn't much suspicious." She considered the other folks Sacha had listed. "You don't think this is some sick Brom plot, do you?" Her eyed blinked with genuine fear and concern.

Ambrose nods seriously, and follows Liwei. "okay. Down that hall, there's a door. Go out the door. I can do that!" He then begins making mental maps of the halls and doors as they walk, but after about 5 steps, already gets confused.

"Okay, kid. Let's do this." He made his way through the halls, backtracking their previous escape route as he pulled the boy towards the very jaws of the people they were fleeing from. He looked down at Ambrose as they walked. "Be careful, okay? We'll try to help your friend but we want both of you to get out safe." They were approaching the door, now.
Dione looks up at Sacha and tries to smile but can't find it in her to fake 'alright.' She looked down and shook her head sadly. "No." She looked around, then back to Sacha's warm gaze. "I can't find Ambrose anywhere. It's been hours and he's just nowhere." She sighed. "Have you seen him?"

Misha took a deep breath in, basically preparing to die. As the shock hit her, she lost consciousness.
