Lucien was glad he did not have to insist further to draw his attention away from Cora. While he felt a little bad for using Aurel for it, he was sure the man had noticed the display.

Aurel seemed a little surprised to hear Geralt speak in German. While he could hear the man's accent in his voice, he hadn't really placed it as German. He wasn't nearly as good at picking up this sort of thing as Lucien was.

"Es ist" His response was short, but enough to show the man that he did indeed know German. Honestly it had been a long time since he had used it, but he still remembered it quite well. Lucien would occasionally speak to him in it, and it had been the ringleader who had taught him a less broken English, but as a result, his German accent was still quite thick.

"Well, I can't spoil all the surprises can I?" Lucien responded. He hadn't really seen a need to do so.

Aurel glanced down at Geralt's hand for a moment. He didn't really want to be rude, so he decided to take it. Or at least, he would have. The moment he raised his hand, Liquorice hissed loudly at him, baring his fangs at him. Jade, who had been wrapped around his wrist again, had stuck her head out from under his sleeve to do the same. Aurel was surprised by this reaction, and quickly took a couple steps back, mostly concerned that the snakes might attack him.

"I don't like thiss one." Liquorice hissed.

"He's dangerouss." Jade followed.

"Es tut mir Leid.. they aren't usually like this." He was quick to apologize, bowing his head slightly. There had been people in his life that the snakes had been wary around at first, but Geralt had been the first that they had reacted so aggressively too. It put him on edge, to be honest, but he tried not to show it. He was unsure of how uncomfortable this might have made Geralt, so he decided to keep his distance.

Lucien was a little caught off guard by this display as well. For them to reject Geralt so harshly.. perhaps there was something they sensed in him that escaped the others. Regardless, he was glad Aurel had the snakes around him. He'd have to keep this in mind for the future.
Lucien couldn't help but laugh. "I assume that means.. not great?" He said, jotting it down on his journal as well. "I'm quite sure that's not irish but, there's a lot of words I haven't been exposed to, so please be patient with me." He said, before ducking under that same branch Faolan had. His wing had almost gotten caught in it, but he managed to avoid it. By now he had stopped hovering, it was more physically taxing than he thought it was. He'd really have to be sure to use them more often so he could fly to the fullest extent of his ability. Getting tired while in mid-flight seemed highly inefficient.

"That's fine, we've got plenty of time. Maybe I can teach you some French too, if you want to learn it anyway. Or German, if you've got a preference." He said.
As Geralt approached Cora further, Ivory immediately squinted her eyes at him. She didn't like it one bit. Her distrust of him only worsened, and she knew now for a fact she would have to keep an eye on him around Cora, and it was clear Lucien shared this sentiment.

The ringleader looked on with a slightly furrowed brow, and had caught the look Illyana had given him. Ivory's expression only grew more irritated the longer Gerlalt lingered around Cora, and when she opened her mouth to speak, Lucien had decided to quickly interject.

"You shouldn't sell yourself short, Cora." He said. "Do give her some air, Geralt, you don't want to overwhelm her." He said, before trying to redirect his attention to Aurel.

"This is our charmeur de serpent, Aurel, whose performance you were able to see a piece of earlier." He added.

Aurel tensed ever so slightly at being acknowledged, but didn't make any motion to move toward the magician. He too had taken note of the.. close proximity the man had to Cora, and he hoped remaining at a distance would bring him a little away from her.

"Nice to meet you.." He spoke up.
Lucien smiled as Faolan agreed to teach him, now that was something he'd really have to look forward to. Aside from the training the man was giving him, this would be a nice little addition to their lessons.

"That's fine by me, I look forward to it." He said.

As Faolan tried to get his words together, the Frenchman glanced up at him. The response he received was not one he was expecting, and it caused the man to grow a little embarrassed, swiftly turning his attention down to his journal. He didn't bother writing that one down. There was no way he'd forget it.

"Oh.. I see." He said. Now what foulness from those Englishmen made much more sense. "I don't feel like that should be used as an insult.." He mumbled quietly to himself, but then shook his head. That was one of the many topics he disagreed with, but this was never something he had expressed out loud to anyone. Lectures from the priests was something Lucien much preferred to avoid.

"Anyway--" He said, desiring to change the subject, mostly to get rid of the awkwardness. "Thank you for informing me, I'll be sure to ask if there are other words I don't understand. If I manage to learn Irish properly, I'd gladly speak it with you, if you can tolerate my accent." He joked a little to lighten the mood. He did have full intention of hopefully being able to speak it with less of a French accent, but he knew that would be a long while before that would be possible, still, he had plenty of time to look forward to.
It was clear that Cora had immediately caught Geralt's attention, this was what Lucien had been afraid of. He'd definitely have to keep an eye on Geralt around the mermaid. He wasn't the only one who shared this sentiment either. Ivory was eyeing him suspiciously as he approached her, but said nothing.

Lucien cleared his throat. "Geralt, this is La Sirène, Cora, out of water, of course. Cora, this is Geralt." He introduced them, hoping it would be brief but, he knew that this would probably not be the case.

"She's the one who inspired a lot of my last dance!" Akane exclaimed as she smiled brightly down at Cora and then looked back at Geralt.
Lucien repeated the word under his breath as Faolan corrected his pronunciation. It was a little embarrassing to be honest, but he couldn't expect to get it right on the first try. He'd work up to it. As Faolan explained things to him, he jotted down notes next to the words, so he'd be sure not to forget them, though he was pretty sure he'd be able to remember. It didn't hurt to be too prepared.

"There's a lot of general.. slang that I'm unfamiliar with, but duly noted." He said. "I know my pronunciation is fairly bad.. but I'll try to get it right. If you don't mind, in our free time, would you teach me Irish? Learning new languages was something I did enjoy doing back at the church." He asked, glancing down at his notes. There was still one word he hadn't asked him about, the one he hadn't told him the meaning to back at the ship.

"Oh and there's poufter, too. Would you tell me what that means now?" He asked, lifting his gaze back to the man. Since they were on the topic, he figured he might as well ask.
Akane had eagerly nodded. "Yes! People seemed to really like it!" She told her. Since her hands were relatively busy during her act with the tools she used, she put a lot of effort into her footwork to make it all stand out, specially when she traced her path in flames. It seemed children found that really cool as well. Hopefully she'd be able to ask Lucien to maybe let Cora see one of her acts one of these days. She was sure that he wouldn't say no, but perhaps it was best to wait until their situation had.. improved? Either way, she looked forward to it.

"It did, luckily you and Cora were unaffected by it, but it just goes to show how well you all know each other and how well you work together as a result." He said with a smile.

"Where is the cause of our schedule shift, anyway? I hope he didn't get lost on the way here." Ivory commented, referring to Geralt. She had already changed out of her performance outfit and removed all her makeup. She found it to be a bit of a hassle to keep it on. Ivory most preferred to be comfortable, so she was already in her nightwear, which consisted of a loose, silky dark blue blouse and a black skirt that went past her knees.

"I'm sure he'll be here soon." Lucien responded. He wasn't particularly late, and honestly he didn't think he would be, considering how much Lucien had emphasized punctuality. There was that, and also the fact he'd probably be curious about meeting the remaining members of the troupe.

"Did any of you already get to meet him? I thought he was quite nice." Akane commented.

"Only Cora and Aurel were unable to meet him, though we did catch a part of Aurel's show before he had to go prepare for his second performance." Lucien responded, having caught Ivory making a face out of the corner of his eyes. She definitely was not a huge fan.

Lucien chuckled. "I try to be. Considering how much time I had on my hands, all I really did was study in my free time. Luckily I wasn't just restricted to religious texts." He said as he glanced down at his journal, picking up his backpack and quickly catching up to Faolan.

"Well there's umm 'Dia duit,' and... 'Craic'? and 'banjaxed'?" He struggled to say the words similarly to how Faolan had said them. Honestly he wasn't even sure that he had spelled them right, but he tried to do his best to say them properly. His French accent didn't really help in that.
Lucien raised his eyebrows slightly upon hearing that Faolan had a little sister. It was the first he had heard Faolan mention anything about family, and while a part of him wanted to inquire further, he decided against it. Maybe he would ask at another time.

"I see, well it's a good thing you aren't. I think there are a good amount of foods you might miss out on if you were." He commented, before heading over to his bag and shuffling through it for a moment, pulling out his small journal.

"There are a few things I've been meaning to ask you. I wrote down a few words you've used that I don't quite understand, would you mind explaining those to me?" He asked. Considering he hadn't heard of them before, he supposed it was some form of Irish slang he was unfamiliar with. If he was going to be travelling with Faolan he did want to be able to learn a bit of his language and the way he spoke. It was a nice way to get to know him, and also a good way to pass the time if they were going to go on the road again.
Lucien simply tilted his hat in Geralts direction. "Of course." He said, just before the man disappeared. Quite flashy, that one, but he expected as much at this point. He only hoped everyone would be able to get along well enough with him, though he knew he still had to keep a close eye on the magician. He still hadn't figured him out just yet.

The rest of the night went quite smoothly, while the quantity of patrons was still a little lacking, it was better than he could have expected for the first day here. Now that the word that Geralt was here would spread, he expected tomorrow would have a higher turnout. He'd be sure to more properly arrange the schedule before then. While he had faith in everyone's decision making, he wasn't too fond of doing things on the fly, especially with the current situation they were in.

Once the Circus was closed and all the people were gone, Lucien headed to the Big Top, the largest performance tent they had, which was the one used for the final night at the circus, where their patrons were able to see the entire troupe perform consecutively. He already had an idea of what order they would probably go in this time around, he just had to talk to everyone about it. He still hadn't decided who he would place before Geralt, who would be probably best suited to go last.

He had arrived a little after Aurel had. The man was leaning against the stage a little off to the side with Illy. Prior to this, he had gone back to his trailer to put the snakes he had used for his show away. From what he could see, he only had the red lined garter snake on him at the moment, which Illyana had named Liquorice, much to his amusement. Akane had already gone to get Cora, and was sitting on the edge of the stage next to her, with Ivory at her other side.

"The performance ended up being really great! Those new moves I practiced with you earlier today worked out really well!" Akane had just been telling Cora as he walked into the tent.

"She's right, it was definitely a sight to behold." Lucien commented as he approached them. "As a matter a fact, all of you did a wonderful job today. I could see how much effort you put into these new routines. I do apologize for the last minute switch in scheduling, but I assure you it won't happen again." He said apologetically, stopping near Aurel and Illy. The fortune teller looked tired, but not completely exhausted, which was good. He'd be sure to tell her to not stay up too long tonight and get a full's night rest.

"It's fine, we talked about it a little before you got here. We simply went with our normal scheduling gaps after an hour had passed." Ivory said, causing Aurel to nod in agreement. It had worked out for him in a way, since it had given him a little more time to practice with his snakes.
