Alicen plopped down onto her bedroll, gazing blankly at the wall in front of her. She hadn’t looked at the demon since they came into the room and so she didn’t notice him leave without a sound. She didn’t understand why she was shaken up; things like that had happened before plenty of times; they were bound too when you were female and have to frequently visit taverns like this. She wondered if her condition at present was due to what happened earlier with the demon. She was abruptly pulled from her daze when some tissue fell into her lap.

Startled, she jumped and her gaze shot up to see the demon looking nervous and awkward. She listened to what he said. So, he had seen her crying. Damn, she had vowed the day she left with Halt that she would never let anyone see her cry. Then he held out a white rose. Her eyes widened and she could only stare at it for a few moments in shock. No one had ever given her flowers before. She reached out one small hand and took the rose gently from him. She closed her eyes and inhaled the sweet fragrance before holding the velvet petals to her cheek as she looked up at him and gave a smile and a small tinkling laugh. “Only a few boys ever apologize with gifts and they are far and few in between. Thank you….” Horror dawned on her when she realized she didn’t even know his name.

“I never asked for your name! How terrible of me, I am so sorry!”
Echo nodded with a smile, looking down at their hands. Hers was so tiny in comparison to his. No one had ever held her hand before or ever really cared about her. Yes, the doctors had been nice but people still only saw her as an android no matter how she may act or feel. It felt nice that someone was treating her as a person. Of course, that was what he thought her to be. She wondered how he would react when he found out she was anything but.
Alicen froze, her whole body shutting down as his words sent her reeling backwards. She began shaking lightly and she clenched her fists to her side. Someone had said those exact same words to her when she was younger except "Ranger" had been changed to "freak" and there was a lot of punches and kicks involved. Then she was locked into a tiny shed until her father had found her. Her eyes filled with tears and she sharply turned away, continuing down the road without saying another word. They reached the Inn in silence and Alicen walked inside. It as nosy and the smoke from the fire almost made her eyes water. The room went quiet as everyone watched the as the Ranger approached the bartender/owner. "I need a room for the night." She said. The man paused in his whipping down a mug and stared at her. People didn't like nor trusted Rangers most of the time even though they worked for the king. "What for?" He asked in a gruff voice. "Official business for the king." was the answer she gave. "And what about him?" He asked as he jerked his head at the male beside her. She didn't even glance over. "He's the business." The man only nodded and told her the price. She was just reaching for her pouch when a drunk man stumbled over.

"Hey pretty girl." He slurred as he grabbed her arm and pulled her close. "Why pay for a room when you can come to mine." He leered as his hand began to grope her chest area. Alicen gasped in shock before her reflexes took over. She slammed the heel of her boot onto the arch of his foot and as he bent down to grasp at the injury she slammed her elbow into his nose, hearing a crunch. The man howled and stumbled back as blood began running down his face. Alicen turned and began counting out coins, hoping the demon beside her didn't notice how baldly her hand was shaking. She paid for the room and lead her companion up to the room, locking the door once they were inside.

She turned away and began to fumble with the clasp on her cloak, fingers still trembling and making the task harder. She finally got it off and hung it over the bed post, her white wings rustling as they wrapped around her protectively. She shivered slightly before she forced the feelings of fear, panic and disgust back and pulled her calm facade back on. She began unpacking her bedroll, not wanting to touch that flea infested bed with a ten-foot poll.
The girl nodded. "I was going to help you anyway even if I would have to stay here." She gave a tiny, sad smile. "Though Sevastopol has been my only home I have to accept the fact that this station is no more." She answered.
"Okay. You said you want to stop your father and the darkness. What do you need to do in order to do that?" Alicen asked quietly as sh glanced at the fading light nervously. She would never admit it but she was terrified of the dark and would prefer to get to an Inn before it fell completely night.
Echo nodded as she shifted over until she was sitting next to him and he could see the map too. "You said you were looking for the flight recorder. Your best bet is to find Marlow, the caption that brought it aboard. He's in the holding cells a few floors above. If he's still alive that is." She stated, pointing at the map.
"I'm Echo. It's nice to meet you." She said with a small smile as she watched him fiddling with random bits laying on the floor. She glanced around at their temporary safe haven and noted they had enough rations for a day. Well, he did. Though she looked, talked, thought, felt and bled like a human she did not require sustenance to keep her going. She brought her left wrist in front of her face and began messing with a watch-looking device on her wrist. A hologram appeared before her of the layout of the station split into sections of each floor. She zoomed in until she was looking at the little dots that were them blinking in a small room. She scanned the surrounding area, trying to decide where they should go next.
Startled, Alicen jerked back as she stumbled slightly. "This is the main road. It will lead to the town of Hiddenwater then will branch off in many directions. We're heading there because you have yet to tell me where it is we need to go." She studied him a moment, mind whirring before it dawned on her. "You do not know the layout of this world, do you?"
Echo peeked up and could see he was still watching her with confusion. She looked back down at her lap, the awkward silence continuing. She gave a small cough. “S-So, what’s your name?”
Alicen remained silent as they returned to camp and she began packing up. Her eyes remained on her task and she refused to look at him, ears twitching with irritation. Soon they were on the road again with Alicen walking in front of him. If he looked very closely he could see a tail tip peeking out from the bottom of her cloak.
