I am going to give my opinion on this matter and you can take it however you like. I believe that one of the reason geek culture has this resentment towards women who identify themselves as geeks is because to them they feel like the opposite sex is only calling themselves geeks now because it is more accepted in today's world. As it is portrayed in pop culture a lot, many geeks were always chosen second when it came to romantic affection from girls who preferred to date the popular jocks. To some geek who are now seeing beautiful girls identifying themselves as geeks, they feel like they are not being legit, and resent them for it. This happens to many different groups of people who have a history of being outcasts or discriminated against. They resentful for how they were treated and sometimes take it out on those who they feel deserve it. Of course that is no excuse for sexism and they are wrong to discriminate against people like that, but the fact is human beings have a huge tendency to hate on those who they feel resentment for.

to answer the question of how to tell a real geek from a faker. For me as a comic book geek, I find it easy to tell whose a faker and who is a proper comic book lover. If a so called comic book geek says DC sucks except for Batman then they probably have never read any of the comics or have not read enough to know what they are talking about, they just watched the movies. Most proper comic geeks like all the comic book companies or at least give a proper or valid reason for liking one over the other. I can't really say anything for other forms of geekdom since I am mostly a comic book geek, but from what I can tell, knowledge and how much you watch, read or play determines if you're a real geek. I hope this helped answer your questions, and I would like to say to all women who call themselves geeks, do not let these jerks get you down because there are rude people everywhere and there always will be, especially on the internet.

Snape was an expert in potion making and an excellent duelist. Just because they have a main trait doesn't mean its the only one they're known for haha. Potion making would also make you skilled on what herbs and parts of a creature you can use to help with healing yourself, or warding off certain creatures, or damaging an enemy, So it really isn't bad if you are an expert in potion making hahaha

that's cool, but I like charms more and Merlin being an expert with charms, and also a Slytherin as well makes me love the house even more.

I think this discussion doesn't have enough evidence to be discussed.Anyways, I might post in a bit...depends. I dunno. I have some plotting to do for a novel.

what do you mean? Merlin being a Slytherin was made official, and he was a specialist in charms, if JK Rowling okays it then it's canon. I'm happy about that, it makes it easier for Slytherins to be good guys. Charms are awesome
"that is a good choice of clubs, I'm going to join the Charms Club and Dueling Club if i have time for both if i join the Quidditch team" Isaak told Verlin. he really wanted to be a part of both clubs, but if he had choose between them and Quidditch, he would go for Quidditch. he couldn't wait until tryouts, he had been practicing all summer for it and he was determined to get on the team. after dessert was finished, he picked up Perun and followed Verlin and the other Slytherins to the dungeons where their common room was located. when they came to the wall where the entrance to their common room was, he heard Cyril say the password, venom drop. he was good at remembering the passwords.

when they entered the common room, Isaak was greeted by the familiar sight that he had missed during summer. it felt good to be back in the Slytherin common room, it was almost like returning to a vacation house only this was not a vacation but the school year.

"It feels really good to be back in the Slytherin common room, don't you agree?" he asked Verlin. now that sorting and the feast was over, Isaak was focusing on the first day of his second year and what subjects he would need to prepare for. he hoped that he had Charms on his first day and would get to impress his teacher again this year like he did last year.

went ahead and introduced the three NPCs, got a bit lengthy xPOkay, you're simply assuming those are the only Slytherin's that were ever famous. Sure none of the ones mentioned out there were 'famous' for potions, but its a big world.

that still is an assumption, in my opinion you can't really attribute any type of magic to a specific house with possibly the exception of Slytherin and dark magic, and Gryffindor and defense against the dark arts. i think any wizard and witch from all of the four houses can be great at any of the types of magic. I'm really glad that Merlin the most famous Slytherin aside from Salazar Slytherin was an expert in charms, it makes Isaak seem more realistic, also Merlin was follower of muggle rights so i guess not all Slytherins are ignorant

It could. You just need to use your imagination and not have such a limited view of the word 'potion'will excelling at spells make you the most powerful witch or wizard of your era? I could argue no, because unless you can use that to your advantage in such peaceful times, they have no use. Also, you seem to have a rather rigid view of the word 'power'. Power comes in many forms, not just raw strength....Kinky.

then why are the most famous Slytherins known for other types of magic? Merlin is known for being extremely powerful and a specialist in charms, Voldemort has never really used any potions except the one that gave him a body, and he mostly uses dark magic. I'm not saying potions aren't powerful, it just seems like JK Rowling never really showed any Slytherins who were the most famous for them. even Salazar Slytherin is said have been a specialist in Legilimency, and deosn't mention anything about potions.

Nope. AJ is still there, nothing happened to her.Nope. Potions are actually fairly powerful if used correctly.

but will that make you the most famous wizard or witch of your era?
does else find it weird how Slytherins are associated with potions when the main characteristics of the house is about ambition and wanting to be great? I find that in the wizarding world, wizards and witches who fight dark wizards or are dark wizards themselves are the most famous of magic users. so to me it seems like other types of magic would fit the house instead of potions
