The baroness nodded. "You can take a walk in my walled garden. It is the perfect spot to think."

Roger worried if the captain was up to walking after all of her recent troubles, but said nothing. After all, the woman knew her own mind. He instead told himself that he would wait at the door to the walled garden, to guard against any who might disturb her. She would have the peace and time that she needed to consider both of their offers.

Once out in the garden Wolf sighed and walked around, touching the trees and flowers. It had been so long since she had been on land and in the wild. She sat down and sighed, closing her eyes. "My friends...what should I do..."

Roger paced outside the garden, waiting for the captain to make her decision. He already knew that no matter what she decided, he was going to stay with her, until he was sure that she was safe. It was not that he was in love with her, but for some reason he had developed a respect and loyalty towards her.

The door opened and Wolf walked out, limping slightly. "I have thought about it...and I will except your help under one condition. I will be a privateer for the baroness..."

Roger almost hugged her, but stopped himself in time. Lord only knew what wounds would have opened if he did that. "O.K., let's go inform the baroness!" He felt genuinely excited as they headed back to the house. They entered by the closer servants' entrance and headed back to the parlor, where the baroness said she would wait for the captain's decision.

Wolfbane limped after him, trying her best not to slow him down. She was happy with her choice, and knew her fallen crew would have agreed. She was done being alone on the battle of the seas. If the baroness needed a champion, then she would be that champion till the day she died.

Four days later, when the ship had time to be repaired and take on an experienced crew, they were ready to sail. The ship was a small, but well appointed sloop. Roger stood on the quarter deck, with the captain, watching the sailors walking up the gang plank. They smiled bravely and hugged loved ones good by, before boarding the ship. There was no one there for Roger to hug. His wife was dead and he was a stranger in a strange land.

Wolfbane watched the men, already knowing they wouldn't do as a final crew. But she could make do for now. She just needed her Strike and the rest would fall into place. She wore her own clothes, her style, and she felt much better in them. A true pirates wardrobe, black boots with leggings and skirt with a light blouse and leather vest. But it wasn't finished, one piece she needed to collect as well. Her fathers hat.

She looked at Roger and said "you sure you want to do this?"

Roger smiled down at her. He was dressed in new clothing. A tan suit and a gray greatcoat, all gifts of the baroness. "I am sure. There is nothing I would rather be doing." In the background, the sloop ship was taking on its final load of cannon powder and supplies and the crew was making ready to cast off.

Wolf nodded and said " if you are sure..." She turned to the crew and said "alright men. I am your captain, if anyone has a problem with that, bring it to me" she turned to the helmsmen and said "our heading is north by northeast. You may lower the sails, sir"

"Aye, Aye Captain!" The men all jumped to their tasks and the tiny ship headed off against the morning sky. Roger helped where he could, but did not truly know the job of a mariner. He ended up swabbing the deck again, as it was the only task that required little skill. He did not take offense though, but worked diligently.

(OOC:I am so sorry about the delay. Things have been bad here, what with the car wreck, insurance and my brother. I will try to keep up more.)

Wolf found herself in the captains cabin, looking over charts and maps. She needed to plan their route quickly so they could get there fast. She needed to get to her ship and then find a crew that didn't have any ties to the land....she knew it was tough but the longer the Shadowstrike was out at sea the better. She hated being inland.

Soon it was night and most of the crew was asleep, but their captain was still working in her cabin. A lone candle was lit in the room, wolf looking tired as she worked on the route and stops they would need to resupply

Roger slept restlessly through the night, wondering how the captain was doing. He had started to learn the skills of a sailor and was sure that before he hit land he would be more of a sailor than he had ever dreamed possible. As it was though, he was still unskilled labor.

He missed seeing the Captain. They had grown closer on land, but now at sea she had her responsibilities, and he had his. He had hardly talked with her since leaving port. In the morning, he woke bright and early, with the first bell, and started back to work. The work was good for his muscles, after months of inactivity.

The first mate was knocking on the cabin door, wanting to check on the captain. "My lady? Are you in there? You need to eat"

Wolf was still working on the charts, fighting to stay awake as she worked. She had stayed up all night, a normal state for her when she was captain

Roger finished with his work and decided to check on the captain. He found the first mate knocking on the door. "What's the problem?"

"She has not taken food for over a day and has not been to her berth to sleep either. She can't keep on like this."

Roger and the first mate came through the door. The first mate had a tray in his hands, with a thick slab of cheese and a small loaf of bread. "You need to eat captain." Roger nodded in agreement. She needed to take care of herself.

She didn't look up as she said "eating and sleep can wait until I'm done with these charts....and the routes we will need. I don't want to run I to anything we can avoid..." The first mate sighed and put the tray down and looked at Roger. "Get her to eat and rest. I'll take care of the rest of the ship" then he left, knowing the man would have more pull with the captain then he would

Roger nodded and allowed the first mate to leave the cabin. "Look captain, I am not a doctor, but I know that you have been under a lot of stress and have a mysterious curse. If you don't take care of yourself, then you are going to end up in bed again. At least eat something and take a little nap, for my sake. I can't stand to see your wearing yourself down so much.

Wolf didn't look up as she said "I need to get this done...storms don't wait for eating and sleep..." She stood up and went to the bookcase and pulled down a large book and flipped thru it. "I don't want to let the Baroness down...or my crew down..." She swayed slightly, her eyes blurring as she fought to read the map in front of her
