The video seems to be broken, it might be easier to just provide a link to it. The first idea doesn't work. The reason being that things like telekinesis and movement control would take a large amount of control, which would mean the character would have to have a relatively small glorin vas. with this in mind, the first idea works against itself. Because telekinesis takes a large amount of control, and energy magic (projectiles etc.) take a large amount of energy, one character wouldn't be able to do both.

I wasn't really serious. Birds would be too distracted to fly and parrots would constantly be begging for a back-scratcher.

Just curious, but what are the cultures of the different races like? How much...control do we have over the race of our character? Like for example, can we create our own cities/regions/organizations for backstory? Or is all that already set in stone?

Edit for additional question: Would body magic such as enhanced strength or speed be more control or capacity? What Glorin Vas would control that?

1. Each of the races has their own province, as mentioned in the "blessings of the sentient races" tab in the main post. cities/regions/organizations are fine. No capitols, though. I'll be establishing the capitols. I planned to do so in the first IC post, but if you'd like to know I can tell you now.

2. Body magic could vary from type to type as far as power/control goes. For example, something like enhanced strength or jumping ability would be power, while something like partial invisibility would be control. The ideal body mage would have equal vas wein distribution on all parts of the skin. So a body mage would be kind of like a jack of all trades. He/she would be capable of all types of magic, but not be particularly good or bad at any type. So the glorin vas of a body mage would be moderately sized (medium power & control), with vas wein of equal measure throughout the body.

I've added a rule regarding players dropping out of the RP, and what will happen to their character if the remaining partner wishes to continue. (rule #7)

I'm looking for a heavy fighter to partner with my mage. While I do see her carrying a heavy staff for comfort and defense, I don't think she'd be a constant warrior.

Also something to take into account with your characters is what they are doing on a ship to Ialdia. This is a colonization attempt, so of course the people on the ship would have to have a reson for being on the ship, and have some skill that would help the colonization.

Sent a PM, but I think it's faster to get a reply on the thread, haha.

I was thinking that for the most part my character would have a small glorin vas, so she would be capable of magic, but would not have a lot of control over what she can do.
The kind of magic I'm thinking of giving my character is something related to distance, voice, or tiny gusts of wind. Would a glorin vas located in one's mouth and throat make it possible to change one's voice and throw it around? Or maybe create a small cry to temporarily disorient enemies within a small radius? (I guess like the move Confuse Ray from Pokemon, hehe!)

Yes that would work, although the glorin vas is just the reservoir, i think you're thinking of the vas wein, which are what determine what kind of magic you're good at.

Okay, though I was referring to rather unrefined telekinesis, anyways (like throwing somebody back or such). Anyways, though, I was more partial to the plasma/energy part (fire and lightning and so on) for that one, anyways.

Oh, and the video is The Sorcerer's Apprentice from Disney's Fantasia. You could also think of Merlin in the Merlin (Sam Neil) series, being 'a hand wizard'.

Alrighty, I think I have a good idea of how to build the battle side of my character.

That being said, I'm posting a shout out to any powerful mage looking for a control-heavy partner. I'm right here. :D
I'm going with a ranger who is best at archery, then followed by minimal distraction and confusion based magic. Sword play will only be a backup. Being a Raevan, I don't think she'd have a lot of power to back up her swing, or the constitution to take a heavy blow from a mace or heavy hammer.

Is this a better version of what a Raevan looks like? I tried sketching something.

Hey, that's pretty good, Egg!

So, thinking on it now, I think that second type I mentioned would require both strong magic and fine control, which isn't doable. Thus, I'll be going with a type of spellsword character-a swordsman that uses blasts of plasma and energy in tandem with swordplay.
