Premise

The Empirical Emperor of Troporia has declared war on the Evil Horde of Hordes. There are many hordes like the Evil Horde of Hordes, but the Evil Horde is the most dangerous. And the most evil. There are many villains finding refuge in the Evil Horde, and the Empirical Emperor has called upon the five greatest heroes in Troporia to help save the realm. They are:

Angstus the Avenger: His parents were killed by the Evil Hordemaster himself when he was but a boy. Ever since, he has been training for this very moment to take vengeance upon the Evil Horde. He is plagued with an edgy history of rejection and overcoming his self doubt.

Xander the Chosen: Just a normal teenager, Xander discovered he had amazing powers when the war broke out. HE DIDN'T CHOOSE TO HAVE THESE POWERS. But he has to overcome his biting sarcasm and teenage apathy in order to realize his true potential.

Ancientius the Mentor: Ancientus had trained young heroes at an academy for near a hundred years and fought in countless battles and wars. He is going to display his powers for one final heroic conquest of the Evil Horde in order to inspire the other heroes to greatness. And then he will retire and live a life of peace that he has never known and probably wouldn't have wanted anyway.

Girla the Man: Girla is a strong and masculine man. He is very recluse and allows himself no friends. Girla definitely has no secret life and is very open.

Arielle of Mari'su: Arielle is a beautiful and perfect woman. Everybody just seems to like her and she never does anything wrong. Her hair is pink and her eyes are rainbow. Also she has wings. But she's very clumsy and totes socially awkward, but in a cute, non-socially-awkward way.

As a normal citizen of Troporia, you're probably uneducated and living a worthless life as a peasant. Most of all, you're unimportant. Also you've been conscripted to fight in the Wonderful War against the Evil Horde of Hordes. The Empirical Emperor needs every man, woman and child in the realm fighting to serve as expendable meat puppets to advance the goals of the Mighty Five Heroes. As a conscripted soldier, you are going to be fighting in every battle and experiencing every gritty detail of this war as the Mighty Five defeat the figureheads of the Evil Horde of Hordes and get all the credit for it.

This is going to be a satirical roleplay, obviously, playing on tropes and cliches that exist within roleplaying and fantasy in general. I hope we can all have fun playing this roleplay, but normal roleplay guidelines still exist. Make a good character, even if they're not that serious. Have their character develop. Have them learn lessons and grow as people as the war progresses. That said, here's the character sheet.

Name:
Age (People 9-100 were conscripted, although I ask we don't have more than one kid. Just wouldn't work that well):
Gender:
Appearance:
Personality:
Backstory:

Bonus points if you take an obvious trope/cliched character and flip it on its head, making them an actually interesting and unexpected person.

Just to clarify... cause I'm either oblivious or it hasn't been mentioned yet... is this a medieval RP?

Name: Kari

Age: 15

Gender: Female

Appearance:

Personality: A quiet and shy girl, hardly something you'd look at and see 'soldier material'. She is more of a thinker than someone to take action, and she seems to have wisdom far beyond her years. She is a very trusting individual, often too trusting, and seen as naive or gullible however she is very loyal, almost to the point where it is a fault. Whilst she is happy to be part of a group she doesn't say much, and can often be seen talking to herself.

Backstory:
Born in a small inn far from the nearest town she learnt a variety of useful skills at a young age, such as riding a horse, shooting a bow, tracking and climbing, taught to her by her father after her mother passed away when she was young as well as the more mundane tasks one would need to run an inn, such as cleaning, cooking and other housework. What she lacks in strength she makes up for in a strange knowledge of tactics, maturity and luck. Around her neck she carries a strange amulet which she prefers not to talk about, saying it is the only thing she has to remember her father by since they'd been separated by the war. However any intellectual contribution she may have is often overlooked because of her age and gender.

Kari is accepted. And yeah it's medieval fantasy, and beyond that you have free reign to make up fantastical lore such as magic.

Name: Corac (The Barman)

Age: 38

Gender: Male

Appearance: Tall, broad, and of a dusky complexion. His eyes are a warm brown, and his hair frizzy and black. His limbs are large and corded thickly with muscle, and move with an unexpected speed and agility in the midst of a tavern brawl. He smiles often, though many find his missing teeth to be off-putting.

Personality: Corac is friendly to those that treat him well, but is generally unwilling to suffer slights against his dignity. His impressment into military service was- to put it lightly- unwelcome. Though not terribly intelligent, and in fact nearly illiterate, he is possessed of a certain instinctual cunning. Additionally, he has an ear for language, and can speak several tongues with varying degrees of skill. He will fight to the bitter end to preserve his friends, his home, and his tavern. The rest of the World does not particularly concern him, as a general thing.

Back story: Born far to the south of Troporia in a small village, Corac knew little beyond his hills that were his home. Though he was intended to become apprenticed to a local warrior of some renown, Corac's future became somewhat uncertain when that particular warrior was disemboweled by an enemy tribesman in a battle that resulted in the destruction of his village. Fleeing north with other survivors, the young man made his way eventually unto the borders of Troporia. Taking up a job in an inn, he found the babble of strange tongues and even stranger tales from abroad intensely fascinating. In time, he moved up from his initial post (which chiefly involved emptying the chamberpots of guests) to become the designated 'fire-man,' tasked with keeping the fireplaces stoked with fresh wood, and eventually became one of the inn's barmen. Over the course of several years, he managed to save enough money to buy the inn from its proprietor.

Unfortunately, none of these experiences prepared Corac for life as a conscripted soldier.

Name: Grumpy
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Personality:
Grumpy is a surly woman with insults to give and middle fingers to salute. She is full of complaints and makes sure everyone knows exactly how she feels when she feels it – most of the time, she’s grumpy. Sarcastic, condescending, and a highly intelligent woman who scowls and belittles stupid people. Grumpy is independent and stands by her morals stubbornly and looks down upon anyone who does not share the same morals.
Backstory:
Grumpy was originally born with a completely unoriginal name but had received her moniker because of her personality. It had stuck, unfortunately, and now even her parents don’t remember her real name. She was born to a large family with six sisters and two short parents. Her parents doted on her eldest sister, Snowy, which led to the rest of the sisters to band together and terrorize Snowy. Snowy went on to become beautiful, marry some insignificant rich boy and began cleaning houses for a living. The family hasn’t heard from her since.

(Note: If you haven't noticed, the story of Snow White is slightly ingrained here.)

So, I personally don't have a problem with this, but "dusky" is considered a racist term nowadays. Just thought you should know so, in the future, you don't accidentally offend someone.

I know. I used it specifically because Robert E. Howard (admittedly, a pretty racist guy) used it a lot, and I was sort of going for a corny, sword-and-sorcery pulp fiction feel.

I appreciate the heads-up, though.
