I used to wrestle, but my ankle forced me to retire early :(For some reason though, I'm able to do both Tae Kwon Doe and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu just fine, even though both of those martial arts put my ankles under a lot of stress. Track really does help with cardio, even more if you're a long distance type.

That is pretty weird. It's like your ankle selects what kind of sports it wants to do haha. My ankle used to act up like that a couple months after the fracture healed. I'd do 3-4 miles of roadwork in the morning, then hit the gym after class for four rounds each of sparring, heavybag, mittwork, rope skip and shadowboxing. My ankle? fine. But when I went for a pick up game of bball, I'm limp walking like a pimp with a leg cramp 10 minutes in. So weird.

What belt did you get up to? My cousin was a little badass Tae Kwon Doe master, but he often took it a little too seriously. When he was active, he regularly took intense studio photos where he'd do really high jump kicks and other various moves. I distinctly remember one where he broke a board with a straight kick, and he was looking straight into the camera with murderous eyes. To this day I make fun of him for it and he refuses to show me these pictures that have suddenly "disappeared"

Dealing with broken and fractured bones is part of my job description, I mostly deal with foot and ankle injuries. Breaking my foot was the reason I didn't join the Marine Corps, but glad I didn't now that I chose my job.

Yeah. My ankle is actually aware of what is going on and hurts itself when it doesn't want to do things. Emo ankle.

I'm a black belt. I don't like those flashy kicks, and I mostly rely on those spinning kicks in sparring/competition. My style of TKD is more suited for competition, so no tornado kicks or high jump kicks.

Make sure you are stretching properly, its the cause of most problems with cramping and not doing so may lead to shin splints or a charley horse.

EDIT- Stay well hydrated, and make sure you have adequate vitamin and calcium intake

Ouch. How did you break your foot? Also, are you like in orthopedics or podiatry?

More fundamental than flash. Those are my favorite type of fighters to watch. People look for brawls, but I'll watch technical chess matches anyday.

Hell yeah! I'd rather pick my opponent apart then waste my energy firing kicks that'll probably miss.

SHIN SPLINTS ARE THE WORST. They're the reason why I drink so much water now.

Well... about that the day before my ship date happened to be New Years Day... long story short I was highly intoxicated at my apartment complex the roommates and I threw a party for some reason I went outside, and got locked outside the gate, I didn't have my key on me and the roomies weren't answering phones due to the raging party. I climbed the fence and in my drunk stupor decided it would be a good idea to leap off the gate like a frog, I landed on one foot before the other and broke my foot and fractured ankle. The recruiters pulled my contract and I had to wait six months where I then became infatuated with being a medic I chose Army over Navy.

And no, I'm a combat medic and in my line of work have dealt with and deal with fractured feet and ankles all the time. I also used to work in a clinic where patients would come to be seen for possible fractures or broken bones.

Great! That's key right there, I haven't had an issue with shin splints since becoming a medic, I maintain proper hydration.

Wow no kidding literally the day before you were supposed to leave? That's crazy, especially how it pushed you toward something that you seem to love doing now. Thanks for sharing that. It also makes a lot of sense now reading your IC posts; Acosta is written naturally well in her role.

IC Post made. Some edits may come later, as I'm just exhausted from writing, and really don't feel like making them at this point. Either way, consider what happens in said post as canon to the RP.

Also, feel free to begin attacking the Covenant troops near your positions; as the post declares, there are actually two for every one red blip on the map. As far as killing the Covenant, feel free to kill at will, though don't go too far over board. Additionally, control over the Covenant is granted for your responses; IE making a grunt run for cover as you fire at it, or an Elite firing at you as you fire; stuff like that. Try not to go too over board again.

Thanks. Yeah, it was crazy all worked out in the end, and in the six months that followed I moved up in my civilian career that I intended on being a short-term career turned into falling in love with and establishing amazing relationships to include a friend who influenced my decision to join the Army as a medic, best choice of job I made in my military career. Now I've fallen in love with the medical profession, will probably go to med school and return to my civilian career when I get out, unless of course Iraq or Afghanistan pops hot again, or even Ukraine or anywhere else for that matter.

I've landed a few tornado kicks in competitions before. Last year I won gold in the English ITF Open after landing a spinning back kick. Broke the guy's rib but only because he kept coming at me with a jumping side kick. I'm gonna assume most of you are WTF, right?

Nope. USAT.

I won my last competition by a spinning heel kick to the face. That was so much fun.

Ahh right, though I'm pretty sure USAT follow WTF competition rules, since WTF is registered with the Olympic Committee. That's pretty bad ass. Haha! I swear, girls are hands down the scariest TKD fighters.

Lol, y'know, for a second there, I thought you were going to say ATA. O.o
