The Trenches ~ A Great War Proposal

I watched a documentary on the Great War, more commonly known as World War One nowadays, and had this vague idea of us being soldiers stationed in the front line, surviving together in hope of seeing our families again and make sure that we all get out of the muddy nightmare of war in one piece. I'm seeking at most five other people to keep this manageable, and would like us to have as much fun as possible in this slice of life/war rp. Is anyone up for it?

OOohhhh. I'm game. I hope this takes off. My one suggestion would be that we pick a place on the front and roughly stick to what historically happened there, timeline wise. That way we're not just making it up as we go entirely: We'd have a rough outline of major action already.

Take it or leave it, I'm still interested.

Ah, great!
Do any of you have a preference as to the nationality or the emplacement of the game? As in, on would like to be a German in Belgium or something like that.

I think that being a German would be a more interesting experience, but alas, my knowledge about the German side of the war is a quite a bit more ague than that of the Americans/British/French, so I don't know where a good place to set ourselves would be.

I think that we can (probably) all agree however, that we want to be on the Western Front. Correct?

I would be interested.

Also, I think we should be French. Why? Because they saw more of the war. They bordered Germany, so more action. There is just so much story there.

I really like Russia, but I'll concede the Western front, if I must. As for specific nations, I'm all for whatever you guys decide. It seems to me that, if we're playing the allies, it makes more sense from a roleplaying point of view to be British, just because I speak their language and understand more of their culture than I do France. But again, I'm game for whatever.

EDIT: I'm for whatever, so long as it's structured.

That would be my logic as well, I guess. By virtue of actually being British in meatspace.

Hey, I'd be interested in this if you havn't got too many people already.

I'd suggest the first battle of the Marne as a good culmination point as we could be part of the retreat and then the counter attack.

Well, I'm ready to go when you get things moving. I'm checking in frequently. I wouldn't be hurt if there's something of a slow pace to the postings, since I don't have enough time to be on all day anyway.
