Well at least he's making an effort. That's a start. He switched his focus back to Laika though and addressed her first. "My employer, a man by the name of Dax Strattix, is very well-connected, and a woman like you leaves ripples. If you've got enough resources, it's not that hard to track them back to their source." He didn't think that withholding information at this point, even something as simple as his employer's name, would be the kind of thing that would get her to sign on. He wasn't gonna lie, he needed this team. Every one of these people had something that would help him defeat Gortex, something he hadn't had in their last encounter. He almost reached up to touch the scar that halfway encircled his left eye, but managed to quash the impulse before it manifested. Gorram frakker.

"As for how you can trust me, you can't. You've known me for thirty seconds. I wouldn't trust me either under those circumstances. What I would do, though, is trust that I'm not dead yet, which means that this strange half-blind human standing in front of me must have a reason to keep me alive. I may not trust that it's the reason he says it is, but if his offer is genuine, then it's a hell of a lot better than sitting in this junk heap letting my anger eat me up inside." It was fairly obvious he'd had an experience or two with anger in his admittedly short lifetime, and his single functioning eye never left Laika as he waited for her response. Could it be unsettling having a one-eyed warrior stare you down? Yeah, but he was a soldier, not a psychiatrist. He didn't have time to waste with indecision.

After a short discussion in which Laika forgave Hessta and discussed employment details with Six, Laika was given a chance to think. They agreed to let her think while she worked on Hessta's ship. She had screwed in the last screw and closed the engine room and locked it when she took a deep breath. "I've got my answer." There was nothing for her in this mechanics shop. She didn't have friends, she didn't have family. She looked up and smiled at agent 6, leaning against the ship. "On condition that I stay with you while you recruit everyone else, shall we leave in two hours, my ship is in the industrial area in an old warehouse?"

His eyes narrowed imperceptibly when she started making demands, but he corrected the slip before it could graduate into anything noticeable. Keeping her free time her own was not anywhere close to imposing on his, or his work time, for that matter, but he'd checked almost everyone else off his list. It wouldn't hurt anything to let her join in on grabbing the last member of their little team. "Alright. You won't need your ship where we're going. Hessta, you can come too if you want, though that tail might make the taxi a little cramped." Then he sighed and turned back to the entrance, not entirely sure what it was he'd just signed these people up for but completely sure that it had to be done. He knew from experience that no single being could take down Gortex.

Hessta rolled his eyes at the crack about his tail, but he decided that it would serve him well to get a read on the rest of his teammates.

"If you will tell me where we are going, I can get my own transportation." He raised his eyebrow at Laika and crossed his arms, jerking his head towards his ship "How long will it take to repair my ship?"

"oh, I'm finished" Laika blurted while pulling off her work apron to reveal a well toned body beneath her leather crop top. "Take it for a test flight, if there any problems I'll get to work on those, though there usually aren't any unless you missed out on something" Laika concealed the excitement in her voice very poorly an actual chance to bring him down then she turned to Six, "where on Earth could we be going that I don't need my ship?"

Six stopped in his tracks and turned to raise an eyebrow at Laika, then his mouth slowly curved into a sort of amused half-smile. "I never thought I'd hear a non-human ever use that phrase." He chuckled as he began walking again, now that the strangeness had worn off. "But as to your question, he's already here on the station. You'll need your ship after, but just to get to where the van is parked." Hey, if she can use earth references, why can't he? Though admittedly, his is a lot older and way more obscure than just making a passing mention of his home planet.

Once they were out of the shop and into the wide open air of the very cramped space station, he stepped into a skycar that had probably seen better days in a garbage disposal unit, then beckoned the others to follow. contrary to what he'd made mention of in the shop, the skycar actually had two bench seats and one of them was (maybe) just big enough for Hessta to wind his tail up beside himself (there's a joke in there somewhere...) and Six and Laika to sit on the other one facing him. Kinda like those limos he'd read about back on earth, but on the brink of falling apart and being sold for scrap. Once everyone was adequately situated and at least mostly inside the car, the driver took off through the tunnels towards the far end of the station with about as much caution as a new york city cabbie (believe it or not, they're even worse in this millenium). "Any other questions you want to ask, now would be a good time. Not much to do for the next hour or so besides watch the scenery and puke."

Hessta had coiled himself to only half his size and a smug half-smile crossed his lips as he looked at Six. He easily managed to sway with the turns of the skycar and actually found the swift motion a little soothing, it reminded him of the jungles of Yantar. He set his scimitars next to him on the bench and crossed his arms, looking between Laika and Six before he spoke.

"How many creatures will we be working with?"

Rousing slowly, Kiril woke from his dream, feeling not particularly refreshed. Those strange night-visions were increasing in frequency and intensity, all at the cost of his decent night's rest. He crawled out of his hammock, brushed his teeth, showered, and dressed in his usual attire: a tee-shirt, an oversized hoodie tied around his waist, shorts and sneakers.

Mumbling to himself about what he needed to do today, Kiril made toast and coffee, then sitting down to his breakfast as he looked over the station's bulletins again. Three creams, four sugars, and a large spoon of marmalade later, Kiril was feeling ready to start the day.

He set to work on his weaponry project; a coolant-stabilized plasma pistol that drew from ambient energy to power the ion accelerators. The large battery packs that plasma weapons required generally made them impractical for use as side-arms, but this weapon was small enough to be smuggled under Kiril's shirt without sacrificing a bit of its punch. The weapon was essentially functional, basically a test type, but there were still many kinks to be worked out.

Kiril busily worked at his pet project, the bulletins still being read aloud to him as they updated, but otherwise melodic electronic music playing from the speakers sit up around his little abode.
