I'm going to need some help with this. I only know what is revealed in the movies, and I'm trying to familiarize myself with the expanded universe, but I simply can't GM this alone. There's just too much that I don't know and I don't know if I can properly GM this without the needed amount of information.

The idea that I had for this was a group of force users known simply as the Nomads. They use the force as a whole and look beyond the 'light' and 'dark' sides of the force. They see the world in a different light than everyone else, and they view the Sith in a better light than the Jedi in some cases, and vice-versa in others.

They fight for peace by fighting against anyone who attempts to tip the balance, not caring if they are Jedi, Sith, or anyone else. They tend to make their movements subtle, not wanting to gain attention from people who take one part of the force over the other. The Nomads do this by acting as the enemy of the people that they are fighting, so if a Jedi acts out in some way or another, then the Nomads will temporarily take the persona of a Sith to deal with the problem.

Anyone up for this?

I'm kind of curious about how The Nomads recruit. And what era?

As the Nomads would put it, "the force is the one to decide." But they just find people who have a strong connection with that force that have similar views as them. They don't force anyone to become a Nomad, but those who wish to be one are welcomed with trials that require at least a basic understanding of each side of the force. There are a few other things, but I'll wait to explain those later if this picks up steam.

So the nomads are kinda like a sect of dark jedi?

As for the era, I'm definitely thinking about putting this some time before the movies start. But if that does become the case, then it's pretty likely that we could start heading into AU territory, with some things happening and other things not.

Kind of. They don't follow the Jedi code, though. They have their own code and way of living.

Interested.

In regards to the nomads, they sound like they are basically followers of the Potentium Perspective. If you want to heavily center things around them maintaining balance against both sides, then perhaps the old republic era would be the best for this? Seeing as that was when both the Jedi and Sith were most plentifull, and in open war.

I'd like to extend an offer to help co-gm this with you. However I must warn, that with school soon starting for me, and another RP i'm co-gming, i cannot guarantee an overly consistent activity rate between the start of October and the start of December.

Thank you for showing your interest.

I'll have to look more into the Potentium Perspective when I have the time tomorrow, as well as the Old Republic Era.

I'd also like to say thanks for offering to Co-GM this with me, and I understand completely. If you do have the time, I'd like to accept your offer.

Also consider me interested.

I'd also be willing to help Co-GM, I have experience in having been one of several Admins a Star Wars forum RP site before our adventure finished and we all moved over to the Guild.

Though the majority of my Star Wars Knowledge is around the Old Republic Era.

I agree with you, I looked into it and the nomads do seem to follow that belief. I'm reading up on the Old Republic now.

Cool. Also, have you considered how you wish for the galaxy to see these nomads? Those within it whom are aware of them at least, or might be? As well as how many of them you wanted to exist?

I ask because we could also factor that in when making the decision of which timeline to use.

The galaxy should question the ways of the nomads and act like they do. They only know so much about them, and are really only sure about the fact that they are open to attacking people that are both on good and bad sides. Numbers, I was thinking groups with 8-10 people to look over a small set of systems, but it could be more.

Hmm. Well, in terms of galactic perception. I'm gonna say the old republic is again best, as 'good' and 'evil' were clearly defined as republic/jedi and imperial/sith respectively from a neutral civilian point of view.

Number wise though, i'd say the legacy and clone wars eras would be best for such small numbers. Mostly because both sides had significantly reduced in terms of military numbers during said time. However keep in mind that, the closer to the legacy era you venture, the less likely it is that they'd have former sith or sith-esque individuals in thier ranks. Or would come into contact with sith at all. It'd also be easier to justify them being able to recruit so many individuals into thier ranks unnoticed during the old republic era, due to the war and influx of force sensitives at the time.

I've been reading up on mostly the old republic era, and I think it's safe to say that we'll be taking place then. I can increase the amount of people per sector to make it fit in well, and you're right, 8-10 people for a few systems won't be enough.
