Yeah, this is a broad area, but I think my ideas take element from both 'genres' of games. I want to try my hand at being a Storyteller, so I will only be controlling NPCs and altering the timeline with plot hooks and twists. As such, I'll be more alike to a referee and a cheerleader than a player. Do know that, while I expect good grammar, spelling and word count, I will be giving you near free reign over the plot to do as you please, so please don't deliberately try to make my self imposed job a nightmare, okay?

Now, my idea is such: Our tale would start on a small island of the coast of the Farunthel Empire, the island a friendly yet neutral territory where orphans of all origins grow safely and peacefully to adulthood. This island is called Adelon, and the orphanage that takes most of its lands is thus called the Adelon Orphanage. For one reason or another you are a young adult that is about to leave Adelon behind to make their fortune and/or fame in the Farunthel Empire, and you and your fellow young adults are about to take the ferry to the port city of Glavide, the entryway into the vast empire. This is where your tale will start, as you will be given the task to find a way to enroll yourself into the first Guild of the Empire and thus start your formal education. That Guild, commonly called the Novice Guild, is the first step toward being recognized in the empire, and the only way to legally learn any skill worth having. Once accepted you will have to strive to make your way into the second guild, the Apprentice guild, and later into the other guilds as you become more skilled and independent. How you do so is up to you, but know that land owning and rights are to be earned in the Empire, and that until you are at least a Novice you will be lower than dirt in the eyes of most Farunthians.

You will have an inventory, a set of skill slots, and even coins and real estate during your journey, but know that I will try to make it so that this is more like a story than a hoarding fest. I hope we will have fun with this, and would be happy to answer all questions you may have.

PS: The following will be the available races: Faundrims (animalistic humanoids of various shapes), Humans, Spirits (Elves, Fairies and Nymphs/Dryads) and finally Halflings (think something between dwarfs and hobbits).

This sounds fun ^^. A lot better than a lot of the combat and adventure based RPs out there. I'm wondering why it hasn't gained much attention in the last 4 hours.

The only turn-offs for me is that it sounds so systematic with inventory, skill slots, coins, and real estate. It makes it sound like a tabletop game. If these elements could be assumed rather than ordered -- for instance, if skill slots didn't require metagame like in Final Fantasy where you had to go through the trouble of going to the start menu, party, ... The same goes for coins since I'm not sure of an accurate way to keep count and doubt anyone wants to invest their time in keeping count. Inventory and real estate are easier to deal with, since they can just be assumed.

I bet it's ironic that if I were to play this, I'd want to play as a spirit (elf) student learning to become an accountant.

Oh, by skill slots I meant the maximum amount of skills you can have at the moment, to simulate the learning ability of characters, if you will. As for coins, well, those are more for making things easier for me. But I just got an idea, things could be like: you can buy say one big thing or three small things per given game time, so while things will stay believable, no real count is needed.

This is an awesome idea. Can you give some clarification on the Faundrim race, though? I just want to know the requirement of how human/how animalistic they have to be.

This sounds really interesting. I'll probably be a fairy or nymph/dryad. If thats ok.

Just for clarification, we don't have to say how much cash we have every time we acquire more or buy/sell something, right?

Well, the most popular way to describe them would be Anthros, as in they look more animal than human but still have human characteristics.

Hmmm, I'm interested. Are there gonna be HAlf-Elves? if not, I may just play as a human.

also, Final Fantasy Harvest Moon mix? reminds me of Rune Factory...

Not really, but there are... vocations? You can be what you like, but some skills work best with specific others.

I did get antsy when I heard classes with paladin, warriors, and clerics as examples. I just want to be an accountant.

I'd like to be a librarian myself. It seems like it'd be fun just to sit back and have a normal job sometimes, instead of spending every post fighting, haha.

I'd probably just have a flower shop or something. Yeah, I'm not so good at too many fighting posts.
