Long ago, all people of the country Paik lived together harmonously. It is not known why they later split up into factions, only that they did. The Vasi records indicate that it was the fault of the Tuli, and vice versa. Each faction has a different version of history, but all agree on one thing: The Vari and some other family waged war against the rest of the country causing a great rift that could never be repaired.

Now, centuries later, the factions are large kingdoms. They do not interact with each other except for once every twenty-five years when the battle takes pace. Each generation, a Volur is chosen to compete for glory and respect. These men and women almost always come from the royal family, but this Volur is always the most talented element user in the kingdom. Though sometimes there are casualties, the battle is not to the death, and the winner is named the Volukun. He or she is allowed to travel to any kingdom they wish with no repercussions. They are celebrated and remembered by their people as a hero.

The battle will be held in just a few days, the Volur have been chosen and are being prepared. Everything seems to be going as planned. This year, though, the Vari have something in mind that will change the rules of the game. This year, they plan to finish what they started all those years ago. This year, the Volur will die, even if they are unaware.

Okay! So, just in case that wasn't very clear, the kingdoms are based off of elements. Each one has a different element that they use (i.e. fire, water, air, etc) and they do not use any other. The kingdoms are named after the royal family (Vari, Tuli, Vesi, etc) that rules it and every generation or so they hold a competition to decide who has the best magic users. There are a few terms to remember:

- Magi : Anyone who can use an element
- Volur : Chosen from the magi to compete in the battle
- Volukin : A previous winner of the battle

The story starts a few days before the battle with everyone getting ready. Don't worry, this will only be the intro post to help give a bit of background on each of your characters before they are thrown against each other. Normally, they would be battling each other, but shortly after they arrive in the so-called "arena" (which I will describe in MY posts) the Vari kingdom will start attacking your characters. They have sent more than just a Volur to the battle and plan to kill each and every competitor before continuing on to the kingdoms themselves.

I expect there to be friendships, alliances, enemies, and any other kind of relationship you can think of. Any element that is directly opposite of another (fire and water for example) will be enemies because their history books will blame the other for the war that split the country.

Okay, so, here are a few examples of elements and their family names that you can choose. Please keep in mind that while you may choose an element that is not here, the name is up to me. I have a specific system for it, so keep that blank until I give it to you. Also, I will be playing the Volur from the water kingdom and the shadow kingdom. You may of course write attacks into your post, but in general I will be doing that.

Air - Ohk
Earth - Maa
Shadow - Vari
Light - Valgus

If there's interest I will post an OOC soon so that characters can be made! Just in case, I will post the CS Skeleton so that you can get an idea.

Welp, I wasn't planning on joining any rps for now but I kind of love the idea for this. I saw that we can play a Volur from an element not mentioned above. Would it be possible for me to make a character with Lightning as her element?

Personality: Although largely a comical and friendly person, Acheir hides a calculating intellect beneath a thick layer of joking and banter. He likes to talk, feeling this enables him the best opportunity to learn about those around him.

History: Acheir was born to a middle class family of merchants, and learned from a young age the tricks of the trade in terms of sales. With three other brothers already invested in the family business, Acheir decided to break with family tradition and pursue the art of magic instead, using his share of the family's modest wealth to purchase tomes of anatomy and magic. What started as a mild interest in the healer's arts soon became an obsession, and it wasn't long before Acheir was discovering the myriad uses of Light magic, spending every spare coin he could from his burgeoning practice as a healer. When books failed to give him the answers he needed, he often found a tutor, or experimented, leading to a steadily growing proficiency in magic.

Smart, but not as smart as he thinks he is. As capable a warrior as the captain of the guards allowed him to believe. And as wise as any sage could direct him to think.
He's a broken boy, who is now a discarded toy. At the moment he is raw and ready for revenge.
History:
He was the groomed spare heir under his older brother who was the first in line for the throne. An older brother who was cunning as he was impatient and set a plan in motion to frame Raoul for their fathers death. Unable to kill a member fo the royal family, he was instead exiled from the castle with only one possession to stand as a reminder of his shame. He chose the family sword and was ridden the the edge of the kingdom to live out his time as a beggar or bandit. For four years he has been honing himself to wait for this opportunity to become the Volukun, walk right up to his brother and gut him on the throne.

Preferred Weapon:

His father's blade, his birthright. Said to amplify the powers of one who wields it, but whither that is from an over-focused bloodline or just a mental focus is up for debate.

Personality:
An avant garde by nature, Lux is someone who can't be tied down by rules or tradition. Impulsive, reckless, and explosive are often words associated with her. She's also steadfast, determined, and hard working. It takes some time to get in her good side, but it's well worth the effort.

History:
Born to a blacksmith, Lux grew up surrounded by weapons. She learned how to wield a sword at a young age, taught by both her father and her two brothers. She continued to train hard everyday as she grew up, learning various techniques and styles to fight. She also learned how to craft them, marveling at the beauty that could be created from something ugly. Lux's mother, a magi working for the noble family, expected Lux' brothers to continue her legacy. She had been devastated when neither of the boys showed any signs of inheriting the magical ability. She hadn't expected for Lux to be the one to gain the power to control an element.

Lux's hatred for tradition grew apparent when she found out her ability. Unlike most who discovered it at a young age, Lux had only tapped into that part of her when she'd reached the age of twenty. She was already working as a blacksmith and quite adept at the sword, so she never really had much of an interest with magic. It seemed, though, that her mother would have none of that. For a year, Lux's mother took her away from civilization to cultivate her abilities. A year of harsh, daily training allowed Lux to grasp her magic better, and to develop a new found acceptance for it.

Metal would be fine yes! I just finished my project so the ooc will be up within an hour or so. You can move your characters, but I always link them on the first page so its not necessary.

Question: wouldn't metal be under Earth?

I consider earth to be dirt, clay, that kind of thing. Metal is a subset of it, but they would have split off from earth just as earth did from the others.
