In the void of time before the Universe came to be, a species lived in infinity. They grew and built, they built at all times, and in no time, at all, for before the Universe, time did not exist. They prospered. Independent of them, though, the Big Bang wrought the beginning of all things. They feared it, feared what was to come, but eventually as time now exists, the culmination of their culture finally came to fruit. Technology on the grandest possible scale, and knowledge of many things. Even things of the new Universe. They set out, now calling themselves the Genesine. In the thousands of years that passed, they travelled, until they came upon a planet, your planet. They nurtured your people, taught them the ways of nature, and then, they left. In search of many more like you. They hoped that in time, your people would grow wise, that your people would grow strong. Have they? - Note: This RP will possibly be particularly frustrating, so with that in mind, and if you'll still enjoy it, jump right ahead. So hi! What I intended for this is just the usual expansion and exploration that planetary Sci-Fi RP's usually have, you'll still have Nation Sheets and the usual contents, but none of you will post on the thread. You will instead send it to me via PM, and I will be the only one who knows of what your Nation is like and no one else. When you're facing off against another race/species, the only thing you'd know is what your race sees visually, although, if you're race is attuned to anything, or you have some sort of scan-type ship/tool, then state it, and I can PM you some details of the race you're facing. As always, fights don't have to break out at an encounter, you may simply negotiate, and pass-by or better yet, build an alliance. So basically, the only thing you'd know as you start, is your own race and homeworld (or such). Space is always unforgiving though, as I'm sure some of the races only seek to pilfer and plunder, so don't make your race's military too underpowered or else they'd be easily defeated. But be warned, don't make your race too OP as well, if you do, I'll still accept your NS and enable you to play, but if you engage in hostilities with said race, the Genesine themselves will be after you, and won't rest until all of your military is destroyed, or if your race is especially malicious, extinct. You can maybe perhaps, fight off the Genesine if you really do have the capability, but they'll be back, and they'd mean business some more the next time. If your race faces extinction at any given time due to any given situation, you can still play again, the Genesine had a lot of time to cultivate tons of species, and others too evolved independently of them. More about the Genesine. They're not particularly malicious, but they're not benevolent either. Scans will fail and you cannot receive any information on them unless your race sees them. Like say, a particular weapon in action, you won't know anything about that weapon other than what it just did, but if that weapon just pointed at one of your ships, and your ship just disappeared, then you'd still need to figure out how it disappeared. I'm interested to see what's gonna happen. Thanks!

interesting idea. Not sure if it would really cater to a story though, rather someone playing to win. That's just my opinion but i'll definitely keep an eye on this.

I like the idea of every poster running blind (so to speak), but I dislike the notion that the Genesine have uplifted/interacted with every nation present as a progenitor species stand-in. Having a GM faction around to enforce strategic balance is fine. Making it so they've left fingerprints on every other faction, isn't. On that note, I will likely not be participating, though I will keep an eye on this.

I was going to say something, only to see that Terminal said exactly what I wanted to say five hours before me. If you want to know why I'm posting and what I think on the matter, read his post. It'll save you some time~
