World building/general idea:

I guess to start up unlike any digimon anime or the games this world is set-up kind of in a weird way first of all this does take place on earth but not our earth it's a world with a rather high technology level it also has monsters in it lots of monsters. Basically the world is what you expect rich city's highly advanced with laser turrets and such and poor town's not as advanced. Because there's monsters naturally the government made several academias for people to train and learn how to defeat these monsters through various ways like swordplay,gun slinging and of course martial arts.
Now this is were the digimon come into play the government also employ digital monsters to take care of the monsters however the digimon need a human partner to fight effectively as without a partner they can't digivolve or fight at their full strength. Part of that is also when the digimon enter the human world from the digital world they need a limiter placed on them so they don't cause accidental destruction. Though the human world isn't the only place with threats that have to be constantly dealt with the digital world also has it's own share of troubles viruses,hackers,megalomaniacs and of course evil digimon.
Anyway time for plot so basically your characters is a new recruit at the Chrono knight academy an academy well known for having many graduates who are masters of fighting alongside digimon. This academy is also known for being oddly relaxed as unlike most other academies it is not a military academy nor is it government funded it is funded by a mercenary group aimed towards defeating monsters and dealing with various issues in the digital world.
OK so here's some info on the digital world
the digital world in this world was created similar to digimon tamers in the fact it was just a game at first and as time went by it began getting more interactive so much so that they made a virtual reality space. That eventually got to the point that the artificial intelligence began to become it's own being and the creatures inside the world began to act on their own so the military decided to find a way to make these creatures real and work for them and eventually from several insane and unbelievable experiments found a way to make the virtual creatures enter the human world and fight for them the Digivice X2.0 (cross 2.0) a device capable of transferring data into matter and matter into data. This also made the game more popular as it gave the players the ability to actually enter the digital world and go on adventures why the government let the game creators use this technology is beyond me but in the process it led to some obvious issues of hackers being able to enter the world and corrupt it genuinely bad people grabbing evil digimon and having them enter their world and help them or just corrupting digimon making them go berserk destroying buildings in the real world.

OK enough world building for now I guess I'll talk more about the characters and what exactly everyone will be doing.
so pretty much for the most part your character is living their school life and occasionally fighting monsters. They also go inside the digital world to train and clean up viruses and arrest hackers. Oh they also use some of that time to try and gain digimon to work beside them.
Character Info:
Characters are between ages 15-25 (so high school to college ages basically no kids beacuse your fighting alongside everyone)
Characters only start with a basic weapon and their digivice you can choose what the weapon is but it will be of a kind of weak material an example if you choose a sword it's made out of a special metal called digital titanium (if you prefer call it plot tanium) basically it is a metal capable of not just hurting this worlds monsters but digimon as well since some evil digimon can only be defeated through deletion.
Digimon info:
Every character starts with one digimon partner it must be in-training or rookie nothing higher at start
banned digimon are as follows Chronomon HM and his line of evolution, chimeramon is unobtainable, any of the 7 demon lords so no Beelzemon also anything from xros is banned. Also nothing from frontier your not allowed becoming a digimon. asides from that the only other banned digimon are the Sovereigns.
Oh and because I'm choosing him no Dorumon (also line im going for mega is alphamon)
