We have always feared disease. It can do anything from be a nuisance, keep us home from work, or lead to a violent, painful death. A few diseases can even alter our mind. In this world, imagine if you will, a disease which makes the infected commit their most violent inner thoughts on those around them. Imagine being chased by your neighbors down a city street, wielding sharp weapons and shrieking in joy, blistering rashes in the shape of a cross having formed on their face. Imagine seeing the world destroyed by swarms of millions; minds focused entirely on mindless violence. Imagine having to survive this nightmare.
This is the world of The Crossed.
-
Inspired by the popular "Crossed" comic book series by Garth Ennis; Crossed takes place in a world where a disease has struck, leaving victims with a cross-like rash across their face and makes them commit their most violent thoughts on those uninfected. All it takes to become like them is a single drop of body fluid. Biting, blood contact, anything.
The roleplay would take place during the very beginning of this apocalypse, in a remote town in the middle of the desert somewhere in the western United States. The town hears of the outbreak around the rest of the world through a news broadcast on the radio of a restaurant. A few days later, a truck full of infected people wreaks havoc on the town, proving the existence of the nightmare. The people of the town must face the infected, lack of resources, clashing ideologies, and other existential threats as time goes on. The town is miles from any other civilization, and has limited resources. Characters will often have to make very difficult choices, such as who gets food, who they can spare to keep watch, and how to handle the ever-decreasing water supplies of the town.
It wouldn't be about just surviving, however. Characters will face moral dilemmas, hard choices, and many, many deaths.
If you want to have a character in the roleplay, post information about them, but keep it basic. I want players to learn about each other's characters through their actions in the roleplay itself, not just by glancing at a sheet.
WARNING: THIS ROLEPLAY WILL BE VERY VIOLENT! VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED!!!
Note: Although the source material involves sexual material, such content will be prohibited in the roleplay. Considering the source material, I think this is for the best.
