Phaerun was the first to reach for the gold, but not without giving pause first. He couldn't seem too eager, after all. Once he waited a moment, he ran a single hand through the pile of coins. The gray, decaying hand left some kind of puss on a few of the coins, which Phaerun ignored. After he finished fondling the treasure, he picked up but a single piece and inspected it closely. He gauged the width, the circumference, the purity of the metal, every possible facet of a gold coin you could think to be remotely important he looked over with incredible detail and interest. All this while his newfound associate, Victor, ran through the possibilities.

"Strategy is vital, yes, but would you not find it prudent to first gather information of our own, and scout ahead? I dare say I would be the best in present company to complete such a task." Just then an idea popped into his head, so Phaerun looked away from the gold coin for the first time and asked Gav, "Tell me, does this world have... Ghosts?"

"Aye," Gav responded. "There are the occasional restless spirits. Though we do try to avoid annoying them. Ghost mages care little for bystanders."

Ghosts were quite dangerous on Orisfal. They were exceedingly rare, at least in the cities, but they always caused chaos when they did show up. Only mages had enough presence of spirit to create a ghost upon death and they kept their power when they died. On the battlefield, war mages have found ways to capture ghosts and will sometimes try to use them as weapons. Capturing a ghost is very difficult and even more dangerous, so it's rare to see, but seeing it is a terrifying experience to the say the least.

"I see..." Phaerun paused in thought for a moment, then came back to his senses as he scooped up roughly one third of the gold coins on the table. "Then I can use that to my advantage. Thank you, Master Gav. I doubt the people of your world have seen a ghost like me."

He then turned to his two would-be partners and said, "That is all for my own questions. If neither of you have any of your own, I am ready for us to begin the journey."

Victor looked over at Phaerun and tried hard to read him. Victor looked a little confused. "I mean no offence but what do you mean 'a ghost like me'? You do not strike me as an illusionist of any kind, But then again, I know nothing of your skills."

Victor stood up quickly and pushed in his chair, "I have no further questions for our host. I am actually every eager to get started. I came to this world for the chance to engage in glorious warfare. Up until this point, I have not seen too much of it. You would hope with as much conflict that this world has their would be some fantastic warriors to fell. But, I have yet to meet them. This mission should be worth while on that end or it will be nothing but disappointment."

Kovinth Kai stood outside the tavern, squinting at the sign and all the unfamiliar sights. Even with as much time spent in Ravnica and away from Tarkir, places with buildings and streets still baffled him sometimes. He recalled his accidental arrival on this plane, simply searching for new places to explore. His first flight with a local, weak-willed Drake had given him an idea of the landscape. Dark and dreary, towns and cities, monsters and men. Overall, he would describe the place as somewhat fetid. But the call had gone out, and this plane had dragons on it somewhere. He'd need the coin to stay and find them. All the allies he could find in all the planes would help in his travels.

Shrugging off his thoughts as he did the physical connections to the worlds he visited, Kovinth entered the bar, sitting at a chair near the door and catching the barkeeps eye. "Black Mead." He said quietly, adjusting the belt of his robes to sit more comfortably. "The winds are warm and hot, like the breath of a dragon." He said, making eye contact as his drink arrived. The barkeep grunted and pulled out a key and note, passing them along with the mug.

"You're late."

"Yes, I know. As I said, the winds." Kovinth said, taking the offered objects and following the note to the back room. He sighed as he heard voices already, he'd likely missed the first part of this meeting. Kovinth unlocked the door and slipped inside, sipping from his mug as he locked the door again. "Hm, coin." He said, eyeing the bag on the table. "I like the look of that. I assume we're killing someone in exchange? I'll be filled in later, I'm sure."

"Ah, we are joined by another." Gav said as Kovinth slipped in. He stood up from the table, took his cane and made his way to the door. "But I've overstayed myself. I must make haste back to Arussia. The three of you have a long job ahead of you." He unlocked the door. "I expect I will be hearing from you sooner than I hoped." He opened the door and stepped out, closing it behind him.

If anyone were to open the door after him, they'd find an empty hallway, as if Gav simply vanished and were never there. In fact, the only hint of his presence was the castle layout left on the table. Everything is in the Planeswalkers' hands now. They know their mission and where they need to go to complete it. It's now simply a matter of getting it done.

Just as Phaerun was about to answer Victor's inquiry of ghosts and illusion, someone new entered the room. The man seemed to have a rather flippant and comfortable attitude. At that time their new employer decided to take his leave, so Phaerun brought it upon himself to bring the newcomer up to speed.

"Greetings good fellow. My name is Phaerun Markuv of Orzhova. As it turns out, each of us is a planeswalker. Gav has hired us to kill the man he believes responsible for the death of their king, and has provided us with a map to the location that the man should be residing as of now." Phaerun flicked his hand upward, revealing it's black and gray rotting form to the others. As he did so, the pile of coins split into three even piles, each pile finding its way to one of the three walkers. "I believe the rest we can fill you in on the way. Would you agree, sir Pax?"
