He would never be able to control them right without her permission, anyway, since the roses are part of her Primordial Vampire powers. Zeruel went out and made himself a target, so it's not like that's unexpected. Besides, how am I supposed to have an interesting fight if I end up being so unnoteworthy as to not even be worth tagging in the posts where people acknowledge my characters doing stuff?

It's how Miyu and Henry got their good fight, and Omega, Sliske, Tartys and Henry occasionally get good fights via 1v1s and 2v2s.
