@nodogs what's the nicest hotel in Delton?

there are a lot of historic mansions up along route 1 just outside the town, past the plaza, that have been turned into hampton inns, hiltons and the like. within delton, there are more bed and breakfasts (of varying price ranges). there are a few hotels deeper into town, outside the shopping streets, but they're only 3-star and usually for the average tourist. i'll leave finer details to you, if you wanna look at the hotels along the coastal route 1 that should give you an idea for price ranges. delton's a town up from portland so people often stay in the hotels nearer and drive into portland from there.

Wooah. Reading over that old IC, Sara was a lot angrier/bitter than I remembered lol. Anyhow, she'd have the same opinions about Jack's sexuality as the last iteration, maybe more light-hearted about it since they're more familiar here. I hope Jack likes beer cos Sara needs someone to taste all her dud batches.

jack doesn't mind beer but she's not exactly a connoisseur and definitely won't be able to tell the difference between most batches. free booze tho!

Freshman year, Billy for his part is still transitioning from church going band geek to goof-off theater kid. They were dropped off at the mall by their respective parents(maybe her brother was secretly tasked with keeping an eye on them, under the guise of hanging out with his own friends). There just wasn't any chemistry, maybe this is when Sara started to realize she wasn't into guys.

Billy's parents asked "what happened to that nice Sara girl?" for years after.

LUCAS@Mao Mao
Yeah... I can see Lucas being this cautionary tale for Connor, motivating him to stay deeply closeted after hearing rumors of Lucas being caught on a gay app, and coming back looking horrible after a summer, maybe Connor heard parents talk and mention religious camp. And Lucas being the youngest Watson but spiraling under societal pressure, it was everything Connor personally worked so hard to avoid. So he would feel guilty as he stays clear from Lucas. Also, Connor did have secret thoughts at one point, wondering that if Lucas hadn't smoked, would he be attractive to Connor? In the end, I think Connor stayed away from Lucas most of that time.

HANNA@Prisk
For sure, Connor and Hanna would directly and indirectly know each other, including Jonathan Robson. Connor and Hanna have some things in common too that maybe they eventually noticed, such as their obsession with appearing normal. They may find that amusing out there in the middle of nowhere. Maybe they were aware they were only playing a cliche role, although mildly. I can see that whatever happens, Connor respects Hanna in their high school game. He'd tell her that she'd go places after graduation.

OMG Freya is fun!! Connor would ask her to hang alot and make memories. Yes for nightly car rides! While he would not get to know her that well, he can see that there's something going on with her, a reason for the things she does to provoke a reaction from Delton. Eventually from her, he learns about her home drama. Connor can only hope that he can bring her enough distraction and entertainment until they're all out free.

I agree that in Connor's circle, there were bullies who targeted Meir but in Connor's case, he might be a very mild bully who thinks he's a nice guy when he is actually plenty ignorant. For instance Connor might even approach Meir, poorly apologize for his mates' actions, openly admit he can't offer protection, but instead offers cash in exchange of Meir doing his english papers. Was that something Meir would tolerate? Could be amusing or triggering.

EWWW ok let's do it! It would be one gross night for Connor who will not easily forgive. If he saw her coming, he would tease her by trying to avoid her "violently projectile spits" and ask her if she was "the Genesis of bile". But other than that, he would leave her alone as he wonders why she was so harsh to everyone.

Fair enough, though I wonder would Sara feel a little comfortable with Connor being that both behave as the ESFJ type? Plus I wonder... her brother Willard was in a car accident, when was this? Connor was in a car accident at night at one point. Idea: maybe Connor and Willard crashed? Maybe they saw each other around Delton in enough years to be familiar at the reunion?

Hah, sounds like it! Perhaps it was mostly one-sided (Jack's side) and she hears all kinds of shit about Connor Sangster. While he doesn't think of her, if they reunited, he would vaguely remember her as the girl who ran out of fucks to give, or the girl named Jack. She had so much chill he never got to knew her, and that ended up the main takeaway. Though that makes me wonder, did she not try during senior year/during graduation to reach out to someone? Sniffle.

Hate is a strong word, heh. Billy seems charming and well-liked. When did Billy publicly come out as pansexual? If this was in high school, then Connor would not really hold much against him. Possibly even finds him attractive. Billy was probably the class clown Connor wished he was more of, and lols yeah I can see Connor ruining the fun for Billy and since then he would give up trying to be funny. And despite the band geek type, Connor would be impressed by Billy's musical talents.

Haha that’s actually pretty hilarious. I would say absolutely! Meir right at the end of his high-school career found that attending SAT’s and doing exams for cash could kind of shift the power balance a bit more in his favor. Maybe he even helped Connor get into the super prestigious school he wanted to go to he wouldn’t have been able to otherwise on just a sports scholarship or something. If you want to make it spicy the two could have almost had been caught and the schools changed the way students attend testing events thereafter.

@Sweven7 He was out in Senior year, at least at school. His parents didn't find out until he graduated, and I've just decided it's a large part of the reason he abruptly left home(though the story he tells is that it was because his parents didn't approve of his band).

I get the sense that they're more alike than either(or, Billy anyway) would like to admit. So they may have had a sort of double sided relationship. Maybe Connor secretly envied Billy for his ease and self assuredness(or maybe he was attracted to those traits, depending on how honest he was with himself he might not know which), but Billy found him irritating because of his school spirit and insistence on fitting in. Not very fair on Billy's part, but he was a teen.

@Gisk That works! Maybe Connor confronted Billy one day and was all "what's your probs with me mannn???"

Billy hates confrontation, and probably deflected all "What's your problem with me?"

Instead of admitting that he thinks Connor's jokes are mean and that the jock crowd kind of sucks.

Weirdly enough, I think this leads to them being pretty civil to each other(if not necessarily close or friendly) for the last year or so at school.

@nodogs yeah, I think with Jack's attitude and her apathy she'd probably fit in well with Ben personally. His friend group is pretty non-descript but I can see Jack and Ben "hanging out" by just quietly hanging out and not really engaging too much with anyone beyond the regular friend group banter. I envision Ben's friend group as being sort of stable for the most part so it probably wouldn't have been teen drama that drove her away from them and maybe more their status of just generic dude that did generic things and didn't stand out much? No juicy goss to overhear with them either which way besides maybe what videogames they're playing or what happened in class that day.

yeah jack would've dipped in and out when it suited her knowing that they probably weren't going anywhere.
