Well in the original RP on the old site, she spoke exclusively through signing. However I'm pretty sure her lack of talking was by choice due to some kind of traumatic event (AB, correct me if I'm wrong). It just took me by surprise, is all.

Is it okay for me to jump back in as well? Not sure I'd be able to make it work with James since he was pretty much nonexistent during the attack and what came after due to my absence. I could write up another character though if I need to.

You could probably make it work with some kind of recap post of the attack through James' eyes, or something along those lines. It's up to the GMs though

You'll have to either create a new character OR provide a way for Rusty to have escaped from the burning safehouse and bandits at the end of the last RP as well as explain how he survived alone up till this point.
