2013 - Oxford, Earth

The University is committed to achieving a multinational student body by attracting the very best students from across the globe to study at all levels, regardless of background or circumstance. This aim promotes diversity and cultural exchange, and seeks to give students throughout the world the opportunity to benefit from an Oxford education. Oxford University Mission statement; and a welcome to those who have intelligence but have lack of funds.

When you work two jobs to save up money to get into Oxford, than succeed in getting grants and scholarships you take full pride in your studies and your ability to learn. Coming from a small poor suburb of London with an alcoholic mother and a drug abusing father; young Olivia Watson had made her way up and out of the slums to something of a better life. Between working a job and going full time to the University, the young blonde had really come far in life.

Buzz Buzz Buzz. A long sleepy yawn left the blonde as her hazel eyes opened staring at her clock. Seven in the morning and she was required to be at the school at nine for classes. Today was just going to be another boring day. Raising up from her bed, she stretched her arms over her head, rising the tank top from around her stomach up high before letting her arms fall down to her side in a lazy fashion. Rising to her feet, the young girl stood at her full height of five foot five inches. For a twenty four year old woman, she was quite short but she didn’t care. She called herself fun sized when people would bring it up and it was always a good ice breaker for chatting with people. This blonde was not afraid to talk to people, in fact her parents worried that it would get into a lot of trouble, but so far so good, she was safe.

Pulling out her clothes she had chosen to wear for the day she set up her ironing board. Never really been much of a fan for ironing, since her drier broke she needed to get rid of the wrinkles in her shirt. Throwing up her hair into a pony tail, she took the iron up and looked at it. It was plugged in, functioning and warm but her one weakness hit her; she found a button she had never pressed before. After observing it she turned the flat part of the iron towards her face as she pressed the button. Spray! Water shot out onto her face in an explosion of mist. A small cough left her as she looked at the iron with anger before brushing the mist off of her face and pushed the placed the iron down onto the shirt and began to flatten out the wrinkles. Olivia had an issue, aside from being extremely social and a small training in martial arts; she had an obsession with touching things. A do not touch verbal warning or sign was something she couldn’t obey. Not being she was someone who wants to be disobedient or problem causing but because she had a firm belief that people learn better by feeling things; and that has landed her into trouble in the past and if only she knew what type of trouble it would get her into in the near future.

Dressed in a pair of dark blue jeans, black snickers and a black comfortable shirt, the blonde curled her hair lightly and started towards the door, grabbing her purse and her backpack; she locked the door behind her and left for the campus.

The Oxford campus was a vast building with many different rooms as it was converted from an old church into a college campus. The beautiful of the building had been touched by many hands including Olivia’s. Studying there had been a large treat for the young blonde, the history of the building alone was wonderment and finishing up her last year of being a Great Britain Historian major just made her depressed to see the building go. Walking up the stairs and entering the building the clock rang eight in the morning and the blonde hurried to her favorite place to spend before going to classes, the archeology department. While it wasn’t her major, she did appreciate all the things they would pull out of excursions and enjoyed looking at them. Though she got consistently lectured for touching the artifacts, she couldn’t stop herself. Things just… well they just needed to be touched.

Pushing against the handle of the large oak door that hid the dug up artifacts, the young girl entered with pep in her step. A dig up in Ireland had brought out some new items out that were brought to the college for analyzing, and Olivia had every intention on seeing the new things. The item check list went through her head as she looked at the new section. Her brain marking a date on each item until she came to a large oval shaped structure. It looked as though it was made of complete stone but in a perfect shape with no rough edges. Confusion moved across her face as she stepped over the velvet rope and closed the gap between her and it. Hazel eyes squinting at the object in front of her she leaned in, giving it a smell. Well, it smelled like rock and it wasn’t making any sounds. While she had no intention on licking it she did, in fact, place her hand against it and leaned forward, listening. There was no sound on the inside of it and she gave it a small knock. Nothing but a small pain on her knuckles from knocking against the stone structure; nothing was simple but she still didn’t know where it came from.

A shrug lifted her small shoulders as she pulled herself back from the stone and her hand fell to her side. Stepping over the velvet rope and back to the observing distance she gave another shrug and turned, walking out the large door and shutting it behind her, completely oblivious to the large flash of light that had happened within the closing crack of the door. Before advancing too far away, Olivia stopped looking down and feeling in her pockets, her pen was gone. Sighing in defeat she turned around, needing the pen before going to class. She must have dropped it when she was in the artifacts room.

The pep in her step was still there when she arrived once again at her favorite door. Her full soft pink lips were spread into a smile showing her bright white teeth as she pulled open the heavy door once again to see a large lizard like creature standing in the door way. Its reptilian eyes blinking down at her as it towered a good foot taller than her. The smile from her lips never faded as she slowly shut the door. Once the door was closed the smile changed into a look of complete terror as she took off running. So much for her pen.

Rounding a corner in large panic, ideas flew through her head about what she could do. Call security? Run to the Dean? Grab a microphone for the speaker system and announce everything should leave? Would people believe her or would they think she’s crazy? Is she crazy? Was her mind playing tricks on her because of the artifact she touched? Was there really a lizard like creature standing in the middle of the artifacts room? There were other noises as well. Was there more than one? How many were there?! What did they want? Why were they here? SMACK, as if she really needed this as she tumbled to the floor. Her attention turned upward to see a man standing there, someone she had never seen before. In disbelief, the only thing she could say in her panic filled voice was, “Who are you?!”

It had been another long, emotional day for the Doctor. As he flew threw the sky in his little blue police box, a box which anyone who saw, inside and out, must make the obvious but befuddled statement, "it's bigger on the inside than it is on the outside." As the Doctor frantically pulled levers and pushed buttons, all seemingly calm, a million and one things flew through his mind, as usual. After he'd left Rose with her mother for what, he assumed, was the very last time, he wondered what he was going to do with the rest of the eternity he had to do whatever he pleased. For you see, that's the thing about being immortal; you have literally forever to do nothing. He was sad, though he wouldn't admit it, to be travelling time and space, alone again. His heart always seemed a little empty whenever he was without a companion, though he always made a resolution whenever he lost one not to look for another.

Suddenly the Blue Police Box landed with a very loud *THUD*, and the whole place shook momentarily. The Doctor's bright ever-thoughtful brown eyes shot up, then to the door. Looking down at his pin-stripped brown suit and brown tie, adjusting his tie, then running his fingers through his ever-disheveled brown spiky hair, he ran to the door of the Tardis, swinging open the door with a flourish as he wondered what would be lying on the other side. But as soon as he had seen what lay on the other side of the door, he quickly wished he'd left it firmly closed, because staring him right in the eyes were about six Lacerta. The Lacerta are a generally peace-loving people, except when they have their eyes set on taking over your planet, intent on turning it into a breeding ground for their over-abundant population.

He'd heard of them before, had met a few in his travels, but the Doctor had a feeling that this small group of Lacerta weren't here for a party, and as they held up their electro-rays, aiming right for the Doctor, he realized that his feeling was correct. The Doctor ran out of the door of the Tardis, slamming it tight behind him and taking off out of the nearest exit.

The Doctor quickly surmised that he was in the back of a large warehouse-like brick building, and turning on his heel, he took off down the nearest alley. Rounding the corner, he could here the lizard-like people in hot pursuit, their feet pounding on the concrete, their nails scratching each time their feet landed on the concrete. He wiped his brow with the sleeve of his jacket, both hearts pounding as he ran. As he rounded the second corner, he heard the thump-scratch of the Lacerta's feet stop suddenly, and then retreat. When his brain registered he wasn't being chased anymore, he slowed to a jog, looking over his shoulder to make sure they weren't still in pursuit. Turning his head forward, he slammed into someone, knocking them to the ground and losing his balance at the same time.

In front of him sat a terrified looking little blonde woman, attractive, early to mid 20's. Straightening up, he reached his hand out toward the unknown young woman, hearts still beating heavily, and pulling her to her feet with a breathless, "I'm sorry." The young woman stood up straight, stature obviously a point of contention with her by the way she stretched her fit torso to accentuate

Remembering suddenly why he was running in the first place, he grabbed the girl by her elbow, pulling her into a quick jog, a million thoughts running through his mind. "Where are we? What year is it?" he asked as they ran, ducking into a small brick building, pulling her in as well, and leaning against the door, breathless.

(Sorry if it was a bit short, there wasn't a lot of backstory to be written.)
