Welcome!~

I'm not sure if a thread like this exist yet, but I felt that one was needed.

As you can guess from the title, this is a thread for the discussion of Otaku related media (ex. games, manga, and anime). If you consider yourself an Otaku, then this is the place for you.

I'm sorry for the short intro, but but I didn't think it would be that hard to understand. With the lack of clubs on this new site, or just my inability to locate them, I thought this would be the best way to locate my fellow Otakus on this site.

So, what is your favorite anime?

Hmmm difficult choice to be sure. I'm really not sure on this one but DBZ was one of my personal favourite classics. For comedy I'd probably side with Golden boy for now simply because I can't remember any others off the top of my head...

Why hello there, Cayden Black and thank you joining me.

I never was really much of a DBZ fan, but I once had a friend who was. I've never heard of Golden Boy, but it sounds interesting. You will have to tell me what that is about.

For my favorite anime, I would have to say that Kuroshitsuji, Attack on Titan, and Guilty Crown are a few of my favorites. One of my favorite comedies is Arakawa Under the Bridge, but I also love Hetalia.

Kaga signing in.

Favorite anime? Trigun. But that might've been fairly obvious.

I can post pictures of my plushes, DVD's, and manga (both Japanese and English) if the set wasn't sufficient to show my level of obsession.

Welcome Kaga.~

I can tell that you are a Trigun just as you can probably tell that I am a fan of Darker than Black. I do love the gif you choose, by the way. I have yet to watch Trigun myself, but it is near to top of my list of anime I plan to watch. I have heard a lot of great things about it.

I would love to see your collection if you are willing to share it with us. My own collect in quite small and mostly consist of various manga selections, so it's nice to see those that are well developed. If only I had more money to invest in anime and manga....

Lol, thanks. I love the gif, too.

I'd hardly call what I have much of a collection, though. It's missing a lot of things; I just tend to pick up anything Trigun-related that I see just because I'm too obsessed for my own good, but Trigun stuff's kind of hard to find, so... yeah.

But since you wanted to see it;

Here are my Vash and Kuroneko plushes.

Episodes 17-22 of the anime series, albeit from different sets, and thus I have episode 19 twice.

Trigun: Badlands Rumble (movie)

English manga (incomplete)

Japanese manga (also incomplete)

And "The 2nd Donut Happy Pack" (music CD)

Wow. That is one impressive collection that you have Kaga. I especially enjoy your plushes and your Japanese manga. As for myself, I don't own any manga in Japanese, and has only seen very few in my lifetime. I personalty prefer to buy all my manga in English, that way I can read it. Despite watch/ reading many anime/manga, I know very little Japanese myself. I do happen to own a few plushes myself, my favorite being my huge Esmeralda plush from Marwaru Penguindrum. I bought it for a cosplay awhile ago, but I have yet to finish it.

Have any of you heard of or been to a Half Price Books Bookstore?

Hah, well thanks. Truthfully though I'm not exactly fluent in Japanese, either. I've picked up on a surprising number of words from watching anime subbed, and I can read katakana pretty well, but that's about it. In Trigun's case, the only words written in katakana are pretty much limited to proper nouns and the word "plant". Other than that... well, the pictures are nice to look at. XD I actually didn't buy any of the Japanese manga myself, though. I got all of it as a gift, and despite my inability to read most of it, I was still pretty thrilled about it.

I've never heard of this Half Price place, though. I don't think it exists in my area. Are you sure it's a large chain thing?

For what I know,Half Price Books is a fairly large chain where I live. I just looked on it online, and it turns out it is only in the West, so it would be a shame if there was not one near you.
Basically, it is a discount book store, which as it's name suggest, sells books for about half the price of it's competitors. Most of the books are used copies since you can sell as well as buy items there. Along with books, they sell movies, comic books, novelty items, records, manga, and anime.
I wanted to bring it up, because I have purchased much of my manga and anime collection from that one store. I believe it is a very good place to buy cheap manga and anime and I was hoping that I could recommend that you check it out if you happen to live by one, but I see now that might not be the case.

I'm not really all that up-to-date on all the anime currently coming out. The newest thing I've watched is probably Attack on Titan.

Not only do I have plenty of RL distractions keeping me from staying focused on all the newest stuff in Japan, but there are plenty of series that have been out for a while that I know I still need to see, not to mention quite a bit of content I own on DVD that I have yet to get through...

Life, ya know?

Thank you for joining us, Animus.

I have been watching a few anime from this season, but sadly none of them correspond to your list. The ongoing anime that I am current watching are Noragmai, Hamatora, Pupa, and Samurai Flamenco. I have yet to catch up on episodes of Nagi no Asukara as well. I have just started watching Kill la Kill and surprisingly enjoy it, but my favorite anime of the season at the moment, for watch I have seen, is Noragami.
Of the anime you have listed, I do plan on starting Kuroko, but I can't guarantee that will be happening anytime soon.

I can completely relate to your dilemma. It is hard for me to find time to watch anime with my somewhat busy schedule, especially during the weekdays. I do, however, find time here and there, particularly on Fridays, to sit down and catch up on the newest episodes. As well as or DVDs to complete, I have a season of Hell Girl that has been sitting on my shelf for quite some time. Hopefully I can find time to finish it soon, but it is not on the top of my "to do list" at the moment.

Edit: I have finally fixed the gif in my signature to work on my computer. It has been bothering me for a while.

SNK was about 2 seasons ago. But yeah, I get what you mean about life getting in the way. There have been periods of time where I've been unable to squeeze anime anywhere into my schedule.

I'm surprised you haven't watched Kuroko. Its quite a big hit since its first season. Well, personally I'm a sports fan which is why 3 of the anime I've listed are of the sports genre. HxH is actually quite a masterpiece and if it had aired properly all those ages ago, I imagine it might have been up there with One Piece. Log Horizon is more of a 'trapped in VMMO' kind of thing which I'm into as well.

I intend to start watching Pupa soon because I do like the horror genre in anime although sadly it is not really a popular genre. The last horror anime aired was Another which was quite a few seasons back.

Many of my friends are big fans of Kuroko, but I haven't found the time to start watching it yet. The only sports anime that I have watched would be Free!, but I intend to watch more shows of that genre. I'm not quite interested Log Cabin since I didn't particularly Sword Art Online. I am not a fan of MMORGs as well.
I was quite excited when Pupa was announced for this season. As a fan of horror, I am always on the look out for new horror that look or sound fairly good. So far Pupa has met up to my expectations, however pacing is not its strong point and it lacks explanations for many of it's key events, which is expected with it's length of only four minutes per episode. I watched Another a little while after it aired and quite enjoyed it. I am eager to buy it's manga at the bookstore, but I must first accumulate the money for it.

Sounds exciting. Will you be cosplaying? If yes, then who are you planning to go as.
