Aya was sitting in Hyakuya orphanage, at least, the one ruled by vampires, and she turned to Eleanor. "Hey, Eleanor~ I've got a question for ya." she said happily. "What if we were to escape, just us Hyakuya family? Go to a world without vampires, a paradise?" Aya had made sure they were alone, since the other orphans had gone out for lunch.

Devon stood alone, gazing out into the "wilds." The whole of the horizon wasn't really "wild" per se, but rather he looked out upon miles and miles of what was once human cityscape, stretching out as far as the horizon. Finally, now, nature was taking it back, growing trees where there was once only merciless asphalt, raising boar and wolves and elk where there was once only death and smog. Devon loved nature, and the Earth. Humans had been a blight upon the planet, a seething mass of greed and selfishness, a devilish race from which he was glad to have been rescued by the vampires. He'd give his life for them again, gladly, now that he was old enough and wise enough to understand things.

Birds startled at his approach as he walked along a ledge, still fearful of anything that resembled a human generations after their disappearance. Poor creatures. Devon inclined his elegant head at them. Of course, nowadays, animals weren't the only creatures that roamed the wilds. There were monsters too. Most of the monsters seemed to have gone dormant since the disappearance of the humans. Fortunately, they didn't seem interested in vampires. Devon spotted one that appeared to be moving, and he followed curiously.

What was he doing out here in the first place? Didn't he want to be around his kind? Get himself in the good graces of the powerful and royal? Maybe not. Even vampires had their human-like flaws. They too could fall to greed and overabundance. It was true that they protected the humans, but they also farmed them like cattle. It didn't' feel right to allow intelligent creatures to suffer, even if you were just going to eat them later. It was possible to drink a human's blood without killing them.

Devon slid down the ledge and ran after the moving monstrosity to see where it was going.

Eleanor was sitting across from Aya "If such thing was possible wouldn't we have no freedom at all? As others would of escaped by now" She smiles slightly "But if you're serious, escaping would be cool" She didnt really remember much about the outside world, but she does remember this place is impending doom

Aya smiled and she said, "I'll have to get REALLy busy then~" She realized she had spoken aloud and said, "Uh, that was nothing. Forget I said that." She grinned at her friend and then she said, "Shall we go to lunch now? The vampires will be a little suspicious if we're late."

Valerian began to walk away from the rest of the orphans. They weren't like him - most of them had known their family beforehand and had actual feelings of resentment towards one party or the other. Of course, his parents too did die in front of his eyes but he could not remember much of them. He was too young. He chuckled at this thought - an 11-year old thinking that they were too young to understand something; the older orphans might berate him for still being too young. Still, he didn't feel an attachment to the other orphans.

He'd often leave at random points to just get away from it all, and this was as ample a time as any. Not paying any attention to calls behind him, if any, Valerian would wander away from the group. Of course he'd return; he'd have to. He found the allure of nature better than the company of others, and in his mind he was headed to a forest. One that had been overcome by nature: untamed and free.

Aya looked over to Valerian and sighed. She had been extra nice to him, and often tried to include him in several things she did. But nothing ever helped. Of course, there were older orphans, but they had ended up dying, leaving the now oldest among the orphans, Aya, to care for the others, especially the little ones. But Valerian just didn't really like them, she guessed.

Eleanor looked at Aya and smiles "Well if there is anything I can do to help with this plan please tell me" She giggles and starts to walk off. She enters her home and sits down on the floor in a corner beside her bed made of straw. She rubs the straw away to reveal a compartment "I've been waiting for this opportunity" She unlocks the compartment to reveal a metal rod which had been modified with bits of wood blocks that were found lying around

Aya nodded. "Right. I'll let you know." she went to lunch and she hummed as the younger children ate and laughed. She watched the younger children and she smiled, they were so cute and sweet. They deserved to live in a paradise... After she ate she told the other thirteen year old, Akiko, That she was running some errands. Then she went to find Lord Ferid.

Valerian would momentarily turn around, glancing at those he had distanced himself from. Amongst those were Aya. Whilst she had tried to be kind to him, it hadn't helped. Kindness just made him feel less of the group. It was something you did to someone you wanted to integrate but didn't know how to. He continued walking, wanting to be away from humanity for a while. Nature was a good enough companion for him - it didn't treat him differently, regardless of the circumstances - nature was an absolute.

Aya looked at him sadly but let him go. She went to find Lord Ferid, so that she could treat the other orphans to good food in exchange for blood.

"Nothing good will come of what she plans, nor what she does now," thought Valerian. "But she can't change that, given the situation. This is the best way she can help them."

Valerian couldn't help but think something was going to go terribly wrong. He wanted to brush that thought aside but couldn't, actually feeling worry for Aya. She had tried to be there for him - this was the little he could do to help her. Yet he had walked so far away it might be impossible to locate her again.

Valerian headed back to the place the orphans were staying. He didn't know why but something made him want talk her out of whatever she was planning. Something primal inside of him - an instinct.

Aya was relased and she washed her neck off, bringing a huge watermelon to the orphanage, then setting it down. She smiled, she had done good. Then she saw Valerian. "Oh, hello, Valerian~ Look what I got for everyone, it'll be a nice treat for us all." She saw his expression and her smile faded slightly. "What's wrong?" she asked.

Valerian would arrive at the orphanage, seeing Aya with the watermelon. Whilst it would make the others happy, the means it were brought it were... just plain wrong. "H-how many pints of blood did you shed for that, Aya?" he said in a hushed tone that only she could hear. "You're just conforming to their ideas of livestock..."

Valerian didn't exactly mind the vampires, for most of the part. He agreed with them that humanity did have its problems with greed and the like, but their penchant for blood stirred emotions deep within him. He didn't know why - as far as he knew he'd never had any bad experiences with vampires, bar the entire situation, but that had allowed them to survive.

"We already have to give blood - there must be other ways to survive, Aya..."

Aya looked down. "I just want everyone to live in comfort before... I have a plan, where we can live without the vampires, Valerian." Her face brightened as she mentioned it. "But first, I want everyone to live in comfort, no matter how much blood I have to give for them. You're all my family. Like it or not, we came together for a reason. We are family, believe it or not."

Aya smiled at him and she set the watermelon down. It was twice as big as her head, there would be more than enough for everyone. She then said, "Wouldn't you like to live in a paradise, without the vampires, where we can be a family? We can live in nature if you want."

"It might be nice to have those kind of thoughts," he began, "But it isn't possible. We both know that. We don't know our way around well enough to leave, heck, where even is the exit to this place? And when those thoughts can't become real, they linger there, and poison your mind with false hopes. It just can't happen. We've got to accept our situation."

Those weren't the words he wanted to say. He wanted to give hope to the others, Aya especially, but just found that he couldn't. Hope couldn't exist sustainably in a place like this.

Aya simply smiled. "Lord Ferid has a map to this place. I can get that and a gun, just in case we have to defend ourselves. But for now, just enjoy the things I bring home for you guys. Okay?" She didn't seem at all fazed by her blood loss in a day, despite her being in need to rest a little.

Aya patted Valerian on his back and smiled reassuringly.

Valerian shook his head. "I-it's impossible... you can't have..." was what he wanted to say, but what he really said was, "Really?" Hope filled him, repressing his usual skepticism. Maybe they would escape. Maybe they could be free.

"When do we leave?"

Aya smiled. "We can leave as soon as I get the map, but it won't be until tomorrow... I can't let Lord Ferid know that I'm planning this. Only one other knows about this plan, and that's Eleanor. I haven't let the younger ones know yet. Can you keep it a secret until it's time?"

"You act as if I actually talk to anyone else." He chuckled at his own joke. "Your secret's safe with me. Just curious, how did you find out about this map and gun? Have you been planning this since you started visiting him?"

Aya nodded. "Yeah, I've been thinking about it for a while. And I saw Lord Ferid put the gun away in a room no one goes in, and saw the map in the same room. It'll just be a matter of getting both."
