I love it. That info makes the concept even more appealing to me.

Now, I know you said it's not the same thing as JE, but do they have any common traditional/religious sayings/proverbs like "The Empress is the foundation on which we build..."???

Any proverb would refer to Zhu, which is the name of their species, language, religion, and prophet (which all of that is named after). And the deity, is The Great Mother. so replace that with one of those and it would be accurate. The Empress is seen as the current incarnation of the Great Mothers will and the current part of Zhu's plan.

It'll take time to organize and get everything up. So I won't likely do the ooc until after work tomorrow. In the meantime I can put more here if you want.

Yes please :D

If I'm accepted, I might RP as a Water Shaman (essentially a waterbender) who hails from an icy planet towards the outer rings of the Zhu Empire, or maybe a small independent planet with trade links to the Empire. He would not fight with swords or daggers, but could manipulate water, and change its state between ice, water and steam. He wouldn't be able to conjure water from nothing, but could extract the small amount of water in the air and in plants. I'm not sure where his allegiance would lie yet.

Would that be OK? Wow, I essentially just wrote a CS. Sorry!

Wait, I'm confused. Does the Zhu Empire stretch across many planets? I thought it was only on one planet...

The Zhu empire kind of does and kind of doesn't. They are all from one planet, but a long time ago a mystical issues happened and most of there land masses were displaced. Now they kind of own several landmasses randomly dotted across a few planets, that they travel between through star gate type portals (building airport like buildings around it) the one the empress lives in is still on their original planet and is really the only planet that matters to them. They don't own any entire planet, as they only take land that their religion speaks of (they can only raise children in those lands, for biological reasons)

Varying depending on the planet an the specific nation. The roleplay will mostly take place on one of the more powerful civilizations known as the Zhu Empire.

I think it's more than one planet, but I just assumed from these sentences' content. I king of visualized it as a semi-magical organisation similar to the Galactic Federation in Metroid.

EDIT: Wow, I just posted at the same time as Lekkuen. nvm!

Well That's because several planets exist and such, with their own civilizations. But the Zhu empire mostly focuses on one planet and small segments of others where their land ended up.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. Could the Water Shamans hail from the polar regions like the Water Tribes do in Avatar The Last Airbender?

Well there wouldn't be any specific group within the Empire that lives there or does just that. So I guess if he was a non native, just for now (while there are only a few characters) I'd prefer to focus on people from the empire. So he could have simply studied on some other region or something.

When I get back tonight, I'll start working on getting the ooc set up. For now I'll leave you with some info on the natives of the empire. This is a lot of stuff, i just happen to have it already written up so will share it to help paint the picture while things are still being set up.

Which Zhu race would people consider to be most suited for a character skilled in water manipulation?

I don't know if this was intended, but according to traditional myth and legend, those four races breakdown elementally almost perfectly. Using the standard symbolism of the 4 common western elements the Zhu races listed seem to fit pretty easily as follows:

Earth = Zhuni (might, discipline & military prowess being earthy)
Water = Xerin (grace, dancing & the larger families being quite watery)
Air = Xenkorian (cunning, and most mental faculties being traditionally airy)
Fire = Etherians (Berzerking plus red & pink skin tones being extremely firey)

Hmm, unintended but that is pretty neat. Works well with the fact they consider themselves as part of a greater creature. Like the elements are simply the parts that make up nature.
