Well as long as you play on the easiest difficulty Hisou is not that hard. Get used to the controls, learn the weaknesses and strengths of the character you are using, if you want to bother you can learn how to use skill input command or just stick to the down, down, B/C input which can be used without trouble and set your spell and skill cards to suit your needs, also no matter if you plan to learn how to use skill input command take one set of skill cards for each input command, otherwise you will "overwrite" the skill with another each time you use a skill card different from the skill that your character is currently capable of using with that input command.. Now that is all that I can say since I didn't play Hisou that much, I passed the stories and sometimes played with my brother a player of all Touhou games and Osu! who is much better at Hisou then me. And keep an eye on your spirit meter (the blue orbs in each bottom corner of the screen, one is yours the other is the enemy's), spirit is what allows you to preform ranged attacks, guard and jump into the sky, if it runs dry then dashing is the only thing that is left to protect you from your enemy's attacks.
Input commands are what you would probably call combos in other fighting games, AKA quick successions of orders which result in a special attack. In all Touhou fighting games those are used to activate skills - attacks and abilities which allow you to dish out pain, evade attacks or stop the enemy from attacking and then countering.
