Meisa looked at her arm. It was bandaged, but she was told it wouldn't have to be too long to be wrapped in bandages. Moving her fingers slowly, she couldn't feel the stinging pain or sensation of her skin having been burnt. Medical ninjutsu was something that always kept surprising her. Sadly, it wasn't what her speciality was. Not that she had any regret for the choice of specialization she had made in the past. Sitting on the bed, she was silently thinking about what the plans would be. Of course, there was a now a bit of a change in it. Not to mention, it wouldn't be too long before somebody would ask why her office was a mess. She just had it and now it was already like that. Not that she had any trouble with lying. Sighing, Meisa looked annoyed through the window. The only window in the room she was in. There was work to be done.
"You okay?" A voice came from the dooropening where the man that was called Hokage had appeared. His tone was soft and there was an edge of worry in it that Meisa would certainly catch. She would always catch it. Sometimes that was annoying, but most of the time it was ressuring. "I saw the office." He commented as he entered the room, his eyes focussed on her as she waited until she would answer the question that he was asking without saying a word.
Turning around, Meisa had catched on the worried tone. But there wasn't a smile on her lips. She looked rather serious. ''I am perfectly fine.'' Was her answer. Looking back at the bandaged part of her arm, Meisa looked annoyed at it. It was in her own eyes a nuisance. Knowing fully well that Hisoka was worried by it, Meisa didn't mind it that much. It was a nuisance cause of Sakamoto. He would surely go on about it or even try to give her a lecture. ''I was preparing one of the plans. However, the person that I thought to be capable was quite... arrogant. In the end, she decided to even forfeit any last wish she could pass on. By now, it the rumours should spread that I was attacked and hopefully her body will not be recognized. I will later send a note to the Intelligence division to make sure that it won't disturb any other plans, Lord Hokage-sama.'' Meisa said, summarizing the events that had happened. Hanamoto's, what a pain they were. Turning her eyes back on to him, she looked again serious as she asked something back. ''What is the result of the search for the Kyuubi? Any possible hints?'' Meisa asked, finding that subject more important than her health or the small office she had.
Lord Hokage-sama, Hisoka's eyes darkened at the words and also because of the thought who had attacked Meisa. So it was a fact that Hanamoto's were no good. They could have seen that coming from miles away. It still stung Hisoka that he had not been able to be there when Zakito was attacked by that woman. He cleared his throat.
"No traces at the hospital. Barriers were completely gone without any trace. No patients missing or staff. We are getting the headcount of the dead shinobi. We can assume that they are at least planning to keep the Kyuubi's host in coma because they took the medication along with them. So they were not after a direct release it seems. Oh, and Sakamoto worries about Nakashima." He said.
''Because of that the man was in a room nearby? Nakashima works in a more destructive and direct manner. The man could be it, but I highly doubt he would be it. Sakamoto worries too much that he oversees several details.'' Meisa calmly stated. So no traces? No other victims or anything that could point them who did this? Meisa started to think. It was good. Very good. ''I think that I need to see the room for myself. Will you acompany me, Lord Hokage-sama?'' Meisa asked as she got out of bed. Already she started to think on some details. They were missing something. Something very important.
"Stop saying it." Hisoka said slightly annoyed as he refrained from helping her up. She wouldn't like it which was funny in its own way. Instead he waited patiently and let her out of the room. As they walked towards the empty and now again guarded room Hisoka pondered. "I talked with Kensuke." He finally said in an even voice. That was all that he could say about it and all she needed to know. He steered her to the left hallway and then down a flight of stairs until they would reach the room.
Meisa only nodded in response. She was too serious to go against what Hisoka had told her in an annoyed tone. With his help, she got on her feet. Not that she felt any pain, but there was some feeling aching at her side. More things she would have to hide from Sakamoto in order to prevent him from starting to rant about it. Walking towards the guarded room, Meisa overheard what Hisoka said. He had talked to Kensuke? Still a serious expression on her face, Meisa replied. ''I am sorry.'' Reaching the hall where the room was in, Meisa looked around. She didn't had the pride or arrogance to think her eyes could see something that Hisoka's eye weren't able. But she had a thought, an idea. ''Can you explain what barriers you had placed around the room?''
Hisoka just hummed when she said she was sorry. "2 different ones. First one was a version of the Barrier Confining Technique only then not anchored to me but to the room itself." He walked into the room and pointed to several places on the wall. Pieces of the wall were supporting cracks. "There, there and there." He said. "Final anchor was on the door. The host would not be able to move an inch or leave the room without using a lot of force. Second one was Dome Method Formation, again anchored in the room, to keep me updated. If the host did leave I would immediately notice it. That one worked fine..." Hisoka looked annoyed. "Besides that I had some sealers seal of the room for unwanted visitors. But they were all killed it seems..."
Meisa looked around as she walked into the room. Hisoka had done his work well. ''Please close the door.'' Meisa requested as she kept looking around. Aside from the cracks, the room looked perfectly normal. No other signals of damage to the walls or floor. The theory of Nakashima being the one who had done was however easily solved. ''Nakashima wouldn't possibly be able to do this.'' Meisa stated, her tone turning stern and cold. She would only say so after the door was closed. ''You are an experienced barrier user. In order to crush the barriers as well undo the seals in such a fast time, one person wouldn't be able to. Not without damaging the room. More than a few simple cracks.'' Meisa said. She pointed at the cracks as she moved closer. ''Even a normal person with some good chakra reserve, wouldn't be able to do this that fast and precise. It is only possible if one had a lot of chakra... Like a jinchuriki.'' Meisa stated. But that was what went wrong. If there had been a jinchuriki who had done this, they would have noticed it. The sensory barrier over whole of and under Konohagakure would have been set to alarmed for sure. Jinchuriki's were carrying huge masses of chakra. Thinking about the option of a jinchuriki being able to sneak under the barrier wasn't an option. Kiyomi? No. Hisoka had taught her about barrier ninjutsu, but the complex and number of the barriers and combined seals would have been too difficult for somebody of her barrier skills.
''Then, a jinchuriki would have set the alarm off for sure. And I seriously doubt Kiyomi has anything to do with this. Her skill with barrier ninjutsu is too low that she could perfectly dispell all these barriers.'' After saying that, Meisa looked at the bed. The pieces of the puzzle were starting to show. But she was unable to put them together. There was a piece missing. But where and how? What was missing here? ''It wasn't hard to guess something of great importance was in this room. We had ANBU guards stationed here. A whole set of two teams. In order to overwhelm so many ANBU's as well doing this, means we can't suspect a single person. Fighting against a group of skilled nin like that and having knowledge of both seals and barriers means that the person would be on kage level. Something that I doubt at Nakashima. I might not know much about him, but the fact he never had fought open with Zakito, means he is below kage calibre. That and having such extend knowledge on how to find and disable barriers and sealings like this? This must have been a prepared assault of a group. With somebody as a mole.'' Meisa said. That was the missing piece. A mole. Who could have it been? Somebody who was capable of knowing of the situation. ''Was there somebody who you had told where these barriers were? Somebody who had seen you place them?''
With interest Hisoka followed Meisa's train of thought. "Nakashima is at least close to Kage level." He commented. "After all he is capable of Dust Release and that is not a small feat. But I agree with you that it is very unlikely that he would have been able to break through these barriers. Same goes for Kiyomi, without destroying the room with the Nibi's chakra." He paused for a second after saying that name. Not only didn't Kiyomi have the knowledge about barriers, she was also family of the boy. He doubted she would ever do something to harm him unless specific orders were given for it. And even then it was doubtful. Hisoka wasn't sure if Kiyomi could really sacrific things like that.
The thought of a mole was disconcerning but not unlikely. Konoha might look safe, but he had no doubt that spies were trying. He shook his head slightly at Meisa's question to indicate that he didn't know. "I placed the barriers as soon as we got him here which was when the host's brother arrived with him. There were medics around because of the induced coma we had to keep him in and a couple of ANBU."
That were then a few options. The host brother, few medics and a couple of ANBU. Meisa bite on her lower lip. They could narrow their search now. But she was doubful of any of them. ''All the ANBU are uttermost loyal to Konohagakure. We could try to see if those couple of ANBU are really a mole. With the mind abilities that some of the Intelligence Division has, we can scan their memories. Seeing if somebody has spilled their lips. I doubt the brother of the host would be it. Do you know any details about him? Specialities, rank or anything that could decide if we need to place time on him.'' Meisa asked. A few medics? She wasn't sure about the loyalty of a doctor. A shinobi was trained to be loyal and only ever a few would turn rogue. A civilian however..
"He is a Genin in Aiko Hon-Cho's team." Hisoka answered. "A Hon obviously. I doubt he has anything to do with it. He brought the boy back here for treatment. I can understand that he might be bitter that we keep his brother locked away, but then again he wouldn't have the capabilities to do anything about it. And if the boy had been behaving suspiciously I am sure that Zakito would have noticed. He knows the twins quite well I believe." Still Hisoka was doubtful that any of these people had anything to do with the attack. He had faith in the ANBU's loyality and the doctors in this hospital were often partly trained as ninja. "The other possibility is an outside group that knew... well... me. Or at least my capabilities and predicted that I would use them to seal the host away." He said. It was not that strange. He was Hokage after all, people knew him and they knew what he could do. Information was not hard to gather.
Staying silent for a moment, Meisa thought about his words. The brother wasn't thus a mole. Yes, bitter people often did things that would result in harm to others if they were getting frustrated. ''An outside group.'' Meisa repeated slowly. Her thoughts were about a rival nation. The Fire Union had became mighty and big. It was nothing new that they had made some enemies while growing. The Wind Country? Meisa wasn't sure. They had both a jounin of both the Wind as from the Earth Country held captive and locked safelty away. ''An outside group is possible, but what is their aim? What do they wish to intend to do with a Bijuu? It is not like many are able to surpress a creature like a Bijuu.'' Meisa thought out loud again. Wait, a group that knew him well. ''What if that group does know you well. What if they were well informed about your capabilities, in such a way that they could predict what you would use in order to seal the Kyuubi's host away? Do you... know any groups that could have that information?'' Meisa asked, slowly turning to look with a stern gaze towards Hisoka. A slight feeling was boiling up as Meisa could remember that she had once asked Hisoka about something.
Hisoka's look turned hard. She was suggesting that his best friend was betraying him? Hisoka was well aware that Zakito was part of this Dragon Lotus group. The man had told him so himself when he had showed him Daisuke's library. "I... could think of one." He said finally not liking the answer. He didn't want to think that he would have to question the former Hokage. Besides the man would not answer any questions about that organisation. "I would like to see that I see no reason for that group to do something like this, but since I don't know their plans and motives I couldn't say this without lying." He said slowly.
''I am going to hate doing this, but,'' Meisa looked away, to the cracks. She thought about her decision. She had the feeling that Hisoka wasn't suspecting that one organisation. However, there was something else that came up. ''I always found it strange. Most of the events these past years seemed out of place, but I never questioned them. It just looked like the Third always had a hand in doing this and managed to keep keep the peace. However, after he was forced to hide in the shadows, more strange things started to happen.'' Clenching her hands into fist, Meisa felt the guilt again. If she hadn't left Konohagakure, maybe she could have done something about that time. ''The Elders were the ones that caused the destruction of the Rice Capital. With their forces, they managed to give everybody there a hard time. But did it never occured to you that from the reports, we only were able to be sure that there were three of them? Theodiere was one missing. Yet, we also never heard of that one before. I am guessing...'' Meisa looked back at Hisoka. This time, she still looked stern, but her eyes were different. She was afraid.
''That this was an attack of that missing link. If one of them is still alive or at least some high ranked minions of those people, why would they not continue their plans? What would keep them from getting back into Konohagakure? It could be possible. The sensory barrier is set to be alarmed on a not registered chakra signature. If they would come back...'' Meisa gained a cold shiver down her spine. Was this the result that they had never searched for that missing Elder? Was this going to haunt them until they had killed all of those people who had served those four?
Hisoka felt both relieved and shocked when he understood that Meisa was not thinking of the Dragon Lotus. It was good that she wasn't suspecting Zakito, but the possibilities of the Elders meddling with Konoha again was unsettling. They had already managed to cause so much trouble. Why would they surface again after so much loss and so much death? It made sense. The barrier would not catch them as it thought they were allies. It was certainly a flaw in the system. Once registered you could not be unregistered, not even when you became a rogue it seemed. He would have to look into that. Maybe he could change that with his skill and expertise on the subject. Second to that was the fact that the Elders knew him. They knew him very well, after all tey were the ones that forced him to leave. The same guilt ran through Hisoka's veins. Wouldn't things have been different wouldn't he have left? But that was wild and stupid speculation. What if's never helped people much.
"If they would come back then we need to figure out what their plan is and who their allies are. They can't be operating with one or two people. They would need some form of support even if that were mercenaries of a kind." He could hear that Meisa was scared and his mind flashed back to two years ago when she had sounded the same. That night on the clearing her eyes had been looking like that as well in the feeble moonlight. "We don't know enough about the situation in Konoha with the Elders after we left." The words were bitter. "But Zakito does. He could tell us more about this perhaps." His hand brushed past her shoulder. She was his rock, the person that made sure he wouldn't complety drown, but sometimes he had to be hers. "Two years ago was two years ago. Things changed. We changed and we have more then we had then." He was not going to tell her not the be scared or not to be worried. Fear was not a bad thing (if it was sizeable), nor was worry. It could drive you to preform better.
''Zakito-sama and I already had a talk. Due him I believe the reasons that it could be Nakashima aren't possible. He also voiced that it was more likely a mole.'' Meisa said. The nice gesture of Hisoka caused her to smile briefly. ''And I know. But... it is like it doesn't matter what we do. The Fire Union stands at the top and yet we are facing with troubles that can easily topple us like this. I suspect that who ever is left from them has been patient. Waiting to muster forces, just like we have done. Only unlike them we were blind. Still are.'' Meisa said, growing a bit angry. Due her experience in war, she knew how important it was to keep your actions away from the eyes of your enemy. It was also a rule of being an assassin and shinobi. If your enemy couldn't see you or notice your actions, how could they then defend themselves from it? It was starting to make sense. ''We need to act. Right away. If they managed to take the Kyuubi, we will need to make sure to warn the border forces. A jinchuriki can't possibly surpress all that massive chakra. It is just not possible for a person to hide that much chakra from specialized sensors.'' Now Meisa started to think about it. They had to act. The pieces of the puzzle were known and they were getting to the part they were able to place them on their place. But it was important that they could now come up with a possible counter offensive. ''I shall see what I can get from the guests that we have brought to the Intelligence Division.'' Meisa stated.
"I'll get on sending the messages to the border forces and let them know what to look for. Just let me know what our guests know as soon as possible" He tapped his ear to indicate that she had to use the earpiece to communicate, turning his own device on again. "Let me know if that arm plays up again." He grinned slightly before turning around. Not being slightly worried about the whole attack was not possible for him. "I could always visit the hospital three times in a day."
A glare was sent back to Hisoka, but she wasn't really mad or something. ''I will. Both of the guest and the arm. Just don't tell Sakamoto that I am here. It is already annoying enough that I have been challenge once today. I hate to be having challenged a second time today.'' Meisa mumbled. She would follow him out of the room, thinking about what she should do. It was high priority that she should see if the captured jounin knew anything. ''I will keep you informed about anything news.'' Meisa said, more serious as she would head to grab her belonings to then do what she had in mind. Only hopefully could she avoid one person that kept making her grit her teeth. If that Senju would start about her injuries...
He couldn't help it. The situation was dire and serious but Meisa's whining was just... cute. Hisoka laughed thought it was brief. Then he had to be serious again as she continued. "Please do. And don't kill Sakamoto for worrying about you." He gave her a look.
"People who love someone do that."
