Of course Bowman started to speak up about some nonsense, but he largely ignored the man in favor of narrowing his focused gaze on the woman herself. Wheels were turning in his mind before he spoke again... a little more respect in his tone then before. "A complete lack of practical fighting experience is a liability that is likely to result in not just your death but the deaths of other people in the squad. It normally takes several weeks minimum of training with a weapon before I would consider you competent enough with it to send you into an area where you might end up fighting something. It also doesn't help that you would be trained for fighting on a ship rather then on dry land, which might not seem like much difference but there is enough of one that it wouldn't do you any favors. I feel the need to explain Artyom's thought process at the moment. From what he has seen of Ade, she looks like a refugee who has no business going into the ruined remains of two kingdoms that have been overrun with monsters from the abyss and thus actually taking a person like that with them is a stupid idea, not just because its endangering her life, but most likely theirs as well.

However, seeing that fire in her spirit has made him consider that all she really needs is some time and training to make up for the above liability... the former of which the team has in limited supply unless... Hmm. Just thought of something that Artyom might suggest.

If the party set sail the moment the ship was ready to go, how long would it take to reach out target destination?

I'm sorry, Artyom actually does have a legitimate suggestion on what the party can do but I felt the need to give you the chance to react to him... well, attacking your archer. Hit or miss, he isn't planning to follow the attack up.

Also, I totally understand Artyom's thought process in this situation as a soldier, though it doesn't make Kieran wrong either. It should certainly be put to a vote. The kicker here is that all three of them have seen what the things from the Abyss can do. They also likely realize that fighting them head on in such a small group would be suicide for even the most highly trained warriors.

I'd also like to mention that Ade claimed to have been trained in the basics, which is pretty much the average here. If anything it'd be more prudent to refine her fighting style.

"For your information I know plenty about weapons. I worked for people who fought practically daily. They taught each of us the basics of weapon use. How to clean them, sharpen them, repair them, and obviously how to use them."

I guess I can mention it here to see what the GM's opinion is. Artyom is going to suggest (after this argument with Kieran is settled) that the party stay on the island they are on for a couple of days of team work exercises. Yes they know how to fight... but they don't really know a thing about each other and how to work together on the field. It would also give Ade a little extra time to get some training in. Combined with the travel time on the boat it should be enough for her to refine her fighting style enough that Artyom would be satisfied with her performance.
