Yeah. In my mind, since he's so high up, Wledic is really, absurdly, obnoxiously skilled and strong. More than enough to 1vAll us, especially since there's still more guards behind him that didn't get murdled and Avad's down.

Oh, and one more thing: Avad didn't just overexert himself, he also shredded his eardrums. He's going to be almost entirely deaf for probably about two months, which is going to make things complicated.

Actually it's highly unlikely we'd face more than the twenty-five we already have. Remember, it's only been a few hours in-game. This means that all the King knows is that the princess is missing. Now, even though we know she's stumbled upon a band of lovable misfits, the King does not, and it is not wise to send out your entire army to catch one person.

So, what would he likely do? Lock down the gates, make sure the night guards are on alert, and take extra care to ID elves. Depending on desperation, he may bar elves from entering or exiting the city altogether.
As for the actual search, it is again, unwise to have your entire royal guard to leave the castle (and king they're devoted to guarding) to capture one person. It's more practical to send a small squad of 5-10 men, particularly skilled trackers, and including a mage to counter the Princess's own magic. We'll bump that up to 20-25 men at arms and 3 mages since they probably suspect Avad's defected by now. And let's not forget Wledric, the head honcho himself. The guard captain should be able to capture a runaway quietly and quickly, with only a small squardon.

But again, to be honest, the only reason I did that was in response to the railroading, and Avad probably won't pull anything nearly like that out of his ass anymore. Again, he's more of a utility, crowd-control guy, so he doesn't do that a lot.

@IncredibleBee Actually we spent enough time by that river that it was mentioned that guards looked out the window and saw our whole group... Sorry, you're right I remembered wrong.

Really though I am just at a loss now. I don't know what to do.

The general idea that I had going for the second group was that they would essentially go all-in and and start guerilla'ing guard groups as a diversion so the King would get pissed and send more men after them instead of Tahra as she gathers allies.

@Zetsuko Actually,

Tahra could not believe what was happening, there was now definitely too many people. She looked back over her shoulder towards the window she had jumped out of, the guards were looking out, and trying to figure out what direction she had gone.

So they were looking out the window, but couldn't find her. Shortly after, the princess and almost everyone else went into the covered wagon. The guards explicitly did not see anything, which is what allowed us to traverse the city briefly without getting caught immediately.

EDIT: Oh, you saw that. Never mind. Carry on.

Flexibility and adaptability are key to any good GM'ing. I speak from experience.

That said, my instincts as a player are telling me to stab Wledric and escape the city.

So in sum, I subscribe more the the RP style of working things out IC instead of OOC. But that's a personal thing. I'd be fine with the other method if I knew about it before it happened in the IC for certain important plot points.

That being said, can we please move on from this deeply unpleasant conversation?

@Lemons I wanted to work to subvert the kingdom financially via business antics and weaken it as a power. I think our tactics could go hand-in-hand, and I think Sergei would love some guerilla warfare.

EDIT: And I agree, Lemons, I would love to simply move on. Shall we?

@incredibleBee May I have your permission to throw Sergei into the cart as to prevent him from being killed?

That's not a thing you need permission for. Anyways, you can try if you'd like, but there's only one guy left and Sergei would appreciate a one on one swordfight.

With all that's going on I think we do need to let others know ahead of time what we are planning to do. And I think we should leave Wledic alive for now

I never find it entertaining to plan ahead what you're going to do and how it goes down. It feels less genuine. If you want to have your character do something, do it.

I still haven't read IC but generally if you want your character to do something do it, just don't auto hit people (NPCs are generally an exception). I'm pretty laid back as a GM but I can make6 a list of rules if need be. As far as what I think occured, that's my bad for not post in something OOC. I fell asleep and forgot but had meant to post before the guard raid. I'll take a more in depth look at things when I get home around 1100 EXT.

If there is anything you want me to know or feel you have a problem with (with me, with one of the players, with the plot or your life in general) please PM me.

Sorry if Jaques's awakening was too soon or unrealistic. I'm also underaged to drink so I have no idea what it's like to be drunk or to have a hangover. I just though it was an appropriate time since @shisa mentioned disguise.

@Dodi do 900 Would that we could use your insight into the art of disguise. You outright told us all you were a princess and your secret is still safe. Now that's skill. Too bad you're with the other group for now.

I may be able to come up with something, though.

@Lemons Oh, you make me blush. Sadly, however, I can't take credit for that particular one. It's the nickname of a wizard in a D&D module (that I believe is itself from a book).

Magnanimous beer goddess is all mine, though.

(Fun fact: the song Stephanie sang is a more melancholy, slightly lyrically modified version of the MTA song by The Kingston Trio.)
