I found a fantastic Windows 95 game that I used to play. Now trying to run it on Windows 7.

Even when I change the compatibility settings, I have bleeding colors, black boxes, and a frozen mouse. Sometimes all at once, sometimes one or two at a time.

Does this mean that its a lost cause, or is there something else that I can do?

You might need some kind of emulator to run it. Sometimes some games are just too old to be able to install them outright, even with changing computer settings, and you have to have a sort of third party program that mimics an older machine to run things properly.

No, its an old game I used to play as a little girl called Barbie Adventure Riding Club. I was going to boot it up for the nostalgia. Found a copy for 2 dollars at Salvation Army.

Yeah, you're probably going to want an emulator. I've used this one before, like, a wicked long time ago, but it did work ok from what I remember. Here's another one to try if that one doesn't work for you.
