[OOC] Perils of the Lost Coast

"Pillbug heard you're in town, starting over. He thinks profit can be made if you work for him." The creature hisses as it talks in the old world language.

"Profit?" A sly grin crossed the half-orc's face and he lowered his hand away from his axe. Pillbug was a weasel and a liar, but he was a wealthy one. As much has he disliked him personally, there was more at stake here than pride. "You said my favorite word," he hissed back in the creatue's native tongue.

[Klinkin]

Gratianus took the lull in combat as an opportunity to rouse the few people who had either somehow managed to sleep through the battle, short as it was, or decided to pretend to still be asleep in hopes of avoiding combat. Hopefully one of them had some skill in medical treatment for the half-elf...

[Goldmyr]

OOC: And the dwarf.

As it turns out, while Smirk usually relies on his employees to do the healing and care, the woman, by name of Seelah, did have some skill in healing. "He won't die with those injuries, though," she whispers so the creature can't hear. "I'll take care of him when I know everyone else is safe."

OOC-I'll refrain from taking the action, last thing I want to do is be out cold right now.

"So you'll come quietly then?" it asks.

Gratianus sighed and stood up. "I should point out that, as you can likely see, we're in the middle of a job right now. If you want to hire some or all of us, you could always wait for us to finish, instead of, well, attacking us at night. Hardly the best way to start a business transaction." One part of Gratianus wanted to just burn the lizard and be done with it. The more sensible part of him noted that there wasn't enough fire on hand.

"I suppose, but those supplies are for our competitors. I can't let them stay intact." The reptile moved towards the campfire and grabbed the bottom of a burning bit of wood.

[ZayTM]

Alastor looked between the two individuals attempting to procure his service before finally crossing his arms. "Pay double what he was going to and you can do whatever you want with his supplies."

[Goldmyr]

OOC: Does anyone conscious have any other input?

[Klinkin]

Gratianus scowled at the alchemist. "We're under contract. We don't abandon a job halfway through because someone pays us more to betray our employer." He turned to the lizard. "If you want to negotiate the delivery or destruction of these supplies, you'll do it with him and him alone." With that, he sat back down, legs crossed, and closed his eyes and meditated, reaching out to Nerva to begin the calling.
OOC: Hopefully this lizard doesn't have the knowledge to recognize a summoning ritual...barbarians rarely do.

"Fine by me," it says. "I can give 150 gold now. Pillbug will take care of the rest."

"If by contract, you mean 'non-binding verbal agreement', then yes we are under one. I've done a lot of business in my days, kid, don't talk to me about ethics." The alchemist turns is attention back towards the lizard-person. "Sounds alright by me. If you wouldn't mind, though, I'd like to let my colleagues here rest and prepare. Pillbug will have his men."

Arzhel speaks, carefully timing his words to avoid choking on his own blood. "it'd be wonderful if one of you could translate back to Common-I'd like to know why we're negotiating with the enemy?"

OOC: I don't speak Draconian, so no idea what's being spoken of.

"Because he pays better," Alastor relayed back in Common.

[Klinkin]

OOC: Smirk can join in the conversation any time now.

"N-Now wait a second. I can up your payments to 120 each If you keep me safe from this savage." Smirk is getting obvious frightened at the thought of losing his protection.

Alastor looks between the two; he didn't like choosing between money and morals, but it was an easy choice. "The little one will not be touched," he says in Draconic, "but do what you want with his wares." He then turns to Smirk and adds, "Better this than anymore killing, yeah?"

"N-Now wait a second. I can up your payments to 120 each If you keep me safe from this savage." Smirk is getting obvious frightened at the thought of losing his protection.
