Question on Signatures

Is there a limit to the number of images, and or, GIFs one can have in his signature? There's obviously no forum limit, but have the mods said anything about it?

I recall there being some sort of rule of thumb where if your sig was bigger than your thumb it probably wasn't great. I'm not sure about any limit but if it's not big enough to disrupt a page I think it should be fine.

Oh jeez. Yeah, the user you linked to definitely has a massive and headache-inducing sig if you ask me.

Generally I don't bug people about signature size until their sig takes up more than half my screen. At which point I consider it a little bit ridiculous and politely ask them to trim it down.

Try that, for starters?

Edit: As for the thing about "six different disco balls", I guess that depends on how they're displayed. Can you get them to lay next to each other horizontally? If so, probably not a big deal? If they're lying there in a row, vertically, and the image for each is kind of long... that might be a problem.

Alternatively, you can use sig.grumpybumpers.com to make a signature image rotate - so that every time a page with your sig is loaded, it'll randomly select one image out of a set of images you pick out. That's the best alternative to having a long string of images in one's sig, I think.

I was joking about the disco balls. I was just curious, i already tried to let them know about the general "unspoken" rule we Guildies follow. Obviously it did not work so well. Things like that tend to be an eye sore.

I believe the usual rule of thumb for what's allowed is one image and the whole thing (any text included) shouldn't be larger than about 650 pixels. (In either height or width.) Now, that said, I think most people won't get fussed if someone pushes the pixel limit slightly or if they had two small graphics, rather than one larger one -- it really comes down to just being considerate of other people using the forum around you and not making them scroll forever or have to wait for a bunch of images to load. (Which can be troublesome on some phones, especially.)
