[IC] Horror at Bunker Lake

Caroline was satisfied with how the campsite was turning out to look and grinned to herself. She remembered that Ben had asked for help before. "Im sorry, what was it you needed help with?" she smiled at him.

" Oh ummm I need some firewood so he can have campfire." He said to her with a smile on his face trying not to act strange.

"Alright, lets go find some," she volunteered her help. This was very unlike her, to actually be doing work. She even surprised herself at how efficient she was being. But these people didn't know her or her free loading ways. She could at least pretend to be different for this camping trip. "Let's go," she coaxed Ben as she began to head into the wooded area to find firewood.

"Alright lets try not to get eaten by bears!" Ben joked as they headed into the dark woods that later right in front of him.

Caroline laughed lightly at Ben's joke as they headed into the woods. She made sure to inform the others before hand, incase something should happen to them while in the woods and they didn't return. There was something about the night, the mist in the air, the calm waters of the lake. Something about tonight was especially eerie.

"This is kinda spooky, huh?" Caroline commented as her and Ben stalked through the woods, picking up branches and twigs. "Do you believe in ghosts, Ben?" she teased, nudging him in the arm.

Ben paused at the question he had always been afraid of the unknown but he wanted to sound tough and responded with a proud tone " Never been afraid of such nonsense. I suppose it is a little creepy out here but nothing will happen." He said picking up a few more sticks. The faint buzzing got a little better to hear but still he didn't mind.

"Ah, tough guy here," she chuckled as she continued to gather more firewood. "You're not scared at all? So you'll protect a lady if a ghoul or a monster attacks us?" she batted her eyes at him. Her flirtatious ways were evidently coming into play.

" Yeah of course I will." Ben said blushing a little again but he made sure she couldn't see it by facing the dark forest. He picked up a big old log and said," I think that is enough for the fire lets head back to the campsite." The buzzing got closer but still they were oblivious to the noise.

"Right, we should be getting back," She agreed as she followed Ben back to the campsite. It was then when she heard it: an odd buzzing sound. Not so much a mechanical sound, but more like a bug or an nature induced sound. As they made their way back to the campsite, Caroline addressed it. "Hey do you hear that bu-," the stopped in mid-sentence as the mysterious sound had suddenly stopped. "Nevermind," she finished, dismissively waving her hand.

" You must be hearing things." Ben joked again as they entered the campsite to start the fire. He dropped the wood at the fire pit and then with his lighter started burning the pile to start a great fire.

Gretchen walked over to Ben. "Do you need some help?" she offered kindly as she knelt down beside him.

Gretchen walked over to the two. "Do you guys need any help with the fire? You should start with small amounts of brush before actually putting logs on. It's not a good idea to start with big pieces."

"You seem to know alot about this kind of stuff," Caroline acknowledged Gretchen's comment. She had noted that, despite the little time had passed, Gretchen had a wealth of knowledge about the outdoors and camping. She perfectly set up the tent with little assistance from Caroline and she knew about how to effectively start a fire. It was good to have her along, as Caroline knew nothing of the sort.

Ana had fallen asleep almost as soon as she had her tent set up. She was exhausted from the trip. She was awakened by the light of a fire being started. Freezing, she came out to join the others.

"It's a little bit chilly, isn't it." she said. sitting on the ground close to the small fire.

Ben did what Gretchen had said and the fire lit the sky with bright orange and reds. " Now we have fire." Ben said getting up from the pile with a proud look on his face. The buzzing reappeared this time but much closer and Ben took notice. " Do you guys hear that? Is it a phone or a really big bug?" Ben said looking into the dark woods.

"It's my phone. Sorry guys." Ana reached for her phone. When she did, she saw that there were no calls or messages on it. She didn't even have service here. "Ooooor not?"

"Strange," Caroline commented while they all sat around the fire. She could have sworn she had heard that buzzing noise as her and Ben left the wooded area. So what was it. "Probably just a bug," she shrugged.

"I hope so..." Ana looked out into the forest uneasily. She was no expert on bugs, but that was either a really big bug, or a whole lot of them. Either one would freak her out if she came across them.

Gretchen looked around. "I've never heard any noises like this before..." she couldn't see very well in front of her, as the sun had set. "Wonder what kind of bug it is..."

The buzzing then without warning became loud coming from just the edge of the woods. Ben covered his ears but saw something he would never forget. The thing was about seven feet wide and had many arms sticking from it. The thing was in the trees glowing from the campfire.
