[OOC] The Rebellion

At the turn of the 23rd century, Voyager 1 made contact with extraterrestrial life. By this time, humans had managed to colonize the rest of the solar system, save the gas giants.
In the following years, Scientists began to record various radio waves originating from deep space. Little did they know, those radio waves were the result of trillions of starships gathering for an assault on Earth.
War raged between humans and a group of alien races named the collective for until about 2253, when humanity’s last true stronghold under the crust of the earth was conquered.
It is now the 27th century in earth years. Since the end of the war, the aliens have used us as slaves. For four centuries, the Collective used us as their guinea pigs for new serums, experimental procedures, and as test subjects for every type of horror imaginable. We have endured, grown stronger and more resistant to their tests and prods. Our resolve has been hardened and the sparks of a revolution have begun to light. The time has come to take back our freedom.

Races of the collective:

Graax

The Graax are the weakest and most numerous of the races. They stand about three feet high and live for only around 20 or so years. However, they also have the highest breeding rate.

Gratch

Standing 8 foot tall with an 18 foot wingspan, the Gratch use blood flies to flush out prey and are capable of easily tearing limbs off. They are also capable of sustained flight for up to an hour.

Fenrir

Fenrir are wolflike creatures the size of a draft horse. They have limited intelligence and if not trained will attack any living thing in sight, including each other. They also have bladelike spines on their back and have the ability to rapidly roll, turning themselves into a living circular blade or saw.

Valkar

Valkar have the ability to crawl on any surface at any angle. They have chitinous armor and a flexible and bladelike tail. From head to tip of tail, they measure about 15 feet long.

The Celestials

Their full grown form is usually about the same size as the average 10 year old. Their physical bodies may be fragile, but their minds are many times more advanced than the best supercomputers. They’ve evolved their mental abilities to the point they can use telekinesis.

The Sentinels

Sentinels were created by the Celestials to be their enforcers. Eventually, the Sentinels became sentient and instead of being controlled by the Celestials began to evolve on their own. They were considered their own race after they began to colonize their own planets. They are slightly larger than humans and can modify and build themselves. They reproduce by sending a fragment of their consciousness into a “shell”. This consciousness grows and changes, giving the Shell a new “life”, unique thinking processes, and even individual personalities.

Name: Centiel (Cen, if that's easier) Samson

Age: 23

Gender: Female

Mutations/alterations: After some experimentation, Centiel was left with the ability to move fast, much quicker than a regular human. However using this skill takes its toll; moving too quickly or for long periods of time can lead to migraines, weakness or even knocking her out. She has been careful not to push her ability too far, afraid that it could ultimately kill her.

Appearance:

History: Centiel's parents were slave labourers for the Collective, and she was chosen as a young child to be part of experimentation on humans. However, she was returned to slavery after having bad reactions to the testing; weakness, passing out, or showing little to no improvements. In reality, the testing left her with incredible speed, which she practised in secret, but rarely uses because of its side-effects. Her father died when she was 14, and her mother just recently passed away, leaving her with nothing more to lose, and everything to gain by joining the rebellion.

Personality: Centiel is strong-willed and can be quite stubborn. Although usually she tries to be easy-going and avoid confrontation, when she's angry she can become loud, sarcastic and outspoken.

Miscellaneous: Has some skill with knives; throwing, close-combat, etc. This is something she learned practising with a friend, sometimes just for fun, but also because they liked to have some form of self-defence.

Name: Zecheriah, Zech, or Z

Age: 21

Gender: Male

Mutations/alterations: multiple cybernetic implants similar in nature to those used by the Sentinels, but adapted to human physiology. He had a mind controlling chip on the left side of his forehead, which he reprogrammed to allow him to access different low level computerized networks. Essentially, he's now a walking hackbase. In addition, certain cybernetic muscle implants allow him to virtually ignore fatigue, but will not increase his strength. Unfortunately, the exposed chip is also his weak spot, and if it's hit his entire body goes into a reboot cycle. While in the reboot cycle, he is fully aware but is trapped in his inanimate body for about 30 seconds.

Appearance:

History: Sentinels had Zecheriah in a breeding program. Many generations before him were also taken, carefully selected from the most physically fit and mentally astute. Their goal was to use these "breeders" as a means for a sustainable supply for slave labor, as many humans were simply used until their bodies gave out and discarded. This program would provide hardy workers for a system based on brutal efficiency. There was, however, an accident in Z's case. Injuries inflicted by an overzealous breeder rendered him incapable of work, so he was outfitted with implants that would allow him to continue working. He spent years hacking his own mind into overpowering and assimilating the chip to do his bidding, and in the process was deemed a defective product and sold to an asteroid mining operation, where he has already begun to organize an uprising.

Personality: Zecheriah is normally a charismatic figure who has no trouble garnering support. However, in the heat of battle or while under pressure of command, he becomes cold and calculating, willing to accept losses for the advancement of the overall cause. After the fact, however, he is known to weep for those who lost their lives. Under the mask he dons as the heartless commander, he feels the weight of each life lost, each wound inflicted.

Miscellaneous: Due to his accident and subsequent installation of implants, he feels as though he's lost part of his humanity and struggles with sending people to their deaths when he himself could barely be considered a human.

Milli, your character is accepted. Just one thing though. Please explain how she got so good with throwing knives. Did she train or was she just naturally good at it?

Sure thing! I'll fix the CS as well. When I say "some skill", I don't mean she hits every target with pin-point precision or anything, she's just pretty decent at throwing them, and usually hits her mark, or close to. She never had formal training, but she and a friend have practiced with knives for fun (competition, you know), and because it is always good to be prepared; have some form of self-defence.

Name: James Hunter

Age: 19

Gender: male

Mutations/alterations: James has nano-machines that were implanted into his body when he was young, so he heals faster than normal, and he's faster and stronger, along with having enhanced reflexes and senses, along with being able to easily understand machinery, but his emotions are barely there anymore, making him seem less human. Also, any kind of high voltage electric shock will temporarily overload the nano-machines, temporarily paralyzing him.

Appearance:

History: James was sold into slavery at a young age, and the Celestials took him in and experimented on him, so other than that there's really nothing notable about his past.

Personality: James is virtually emotionless because of the nano-machines, and fear has been completely nullified, so he may do reckless things a lot.

Miscellaneous: if he's actually angered or threatened, the nano-machines will send him into a "Kill Mode," which is when his enhancements kick into overdrive, causing him to basically attack anything that the nano-machines label as a threat, no matter if it is friend or foe.

bioelectricity, but they also have backup power just in case he gets a fatal wound and they have to support him, kind of like life support while they fix the wound.

the guy wanting to be captain falcon. I don't feel like having to go integrate this whole game with the Captain Falcon universe.

So far, James, Zecheriah, and Centiel are accepted. I'll start working on a first post soon. Remember this is mostly sandbox so you can do what you want but Zech is going to try to get you to join his little faction to move the story along. You can start your own factions and organize your own members if you like, and even start up a rivalry with Zech's group. Variety is the spice of life so what you want, but try not to kill anyone off too soon.

Seven years ago while Zecheriah was still a part of the breeding program, his genetic material was used to create a female prodigy.

This human, not even fully developed, was genetically altered to have avian features. She was part of an experiment to see if humans could be given the ability of flight. When she was “born” she was not the cutest thing alive. Her wings were still naked stubs with peach fuzz, her hair on her head was patchy; she did not look fully developed. In order to try and fix this, not waste their precious time waiting for her to grow up as a normal human does, they altered her Pituitary Gland among other drugs to increase her growth factor.

Sora’s lab results began to show signs of her avian features becoming more prominent as she grew older. Her lungs abide smaller had more aerobic capacity as compared to the average man. Her bones were similar to large birds, consisting of a density of about 0.3g/cm3, whereas an average humans would be 1.5g/cm3. Her bones are mostly air-filled, but reinforced by cross-beams known as trabeculae, making them extremely light. and her muscles larger than the average humans. As her feathers grew in they started as a dull brown, and later when she hit puberty, they molted, transforming into bright vibrant colors wings. Her hair had grown and fanned out, clumping together to resemble the tail feathers of a bird, gaining a golden color at the tips.

At seven years after her creation, she was more akin to a 14 year old human. The Collective by this time had deemed her a failure. That although she had the advantages and genetics that allowed for flight, her wings just over 7 feet from point to point, were not large enough, nor had her body and muscles developed sufficiently enough to allow for sustained flight. It appeared in order to do so, she had to be more bird like in her body structure than human like. She was however able to glide with the currents given the right conditions, and push off enough to dodge or jump over something, but this was not enough for the Collective.

And due to her more delicate nature she was unfit for hard labor, and as a failure undesirable for breeding. She was bartered away as an item to a Sentinel who found her looks appeasing to the eyes in the dull world he lived in. She was a bird in a cage, moving from one cell to another… but just as any bird that has never known freedom she did not know what she was missing, and enjoyed her simple life as a pretty bird for her master.

Thomas is one of the subjects that was used to test post-birth intergration of 2 races. The Collective tried to merge every alien race to humans, as for Thomas, they tried it with a Valmar.

Thomas is almost entirely covered in Cithin, making him stronger against high pressure impacts of small size, however he is weaker against punches or big blunt attacks. Thomas can crawl up walls, but not on the ceiling.

Appearance:

Thomas looks a bit like this but his head is not covered.
Thomas has blond hair that falls to his shoulders, a small beard and dark eyes.

History:
Thomas has been a lab rat for as long as he remembers, there has been testing on him, more than he can remember. And then follows a gap in his memory, until he woke up of hunger, he discovered he was trapped, improvised his way out. He ran and ran, until he stumbled upon an old nearly abandoned spaceharbor and he took this opportunity, he snuck in, waited some time and got aboard of a cargoship heading to some asteroid. He didn't really care where he was going, he just wanted to get away from where he was now, as they would be searching for him all over the place.

Personality:
Thomas is very timid. Years of testing and bad treatment made him that. Now he wants to fight for justice. He is afraid, however, that he dares not kill anyone.

Miscellaneous: Thomas has a passive role, and does not know more than simple brawling.
