That's retarded, just make it anonymous. If they don't want to donate because they won't get a shiny, then they suck. I'd rather do it to keep a great site going and to help line the pockets of the man who does it for us.

This this this this this. A lot of us care deeply about this site and want to do what we can to keep it up simply for the sake of We fucking love it here. I understand the precautions but maybe even just trying it and then, if problems arise, taking it down. But trying it out can't hurt anything, can it?
