Moved! I think I'll look for some reference images for Mitch's lantern.
Would the invisible flame still create light? I imagine it to have light that can only be seen through things, but actually looking at it it's invisible. Is that determined, or up to me?

Yeah, we wanted it to not be apparent when looking directly at it, but still somehow cast light. I think if it didn't create light it'd be a worthless flame, lel. Your guess at what it does works too.

Maybe this is strange to ask, but could I know what the phobia is for the Purple flame before I make my CS?
I'd rather my character not spontaneously generate a fear just because she touched a magic lantern-thingy, you know? She should already have the fear, and the lantern could, well... bring it to light. If I know what phobia you want the carrier of the Purple flame to have beforehand, I can use that as part of the creation process, and make a character that would realistically have that phobia already.

:) Anyway, this seems like a very interesting setting, lots of potential for brutality and loss and all those lovely emotional dilemmas that heroes should have. Hopefully you see this as a reasonable request; I think I would enjoy this game.

I'm pretty sure that the phobia your character is given is something they have before they even go under the bed. Of course I understand that you'd want to know it.
How are the phobias chosen anyway? Because the one I recieved fit beautifully with my character, do you guys decide on one based on the character or was that a happy accident?

That's a good question-- no, the lanterns don't randomly give the person a phobia, they have already had that phobia beforehand.
As with how they were chosen, we picked powers that would somehow correspond with your phobia. (At least for some, since a few powers have been changed now they seem oddly thrown together) I.e person with rainbow flame can idk.. turn into a sparkles and their phobia is never being beautiful enough or something. Some are ridiculously ironic, but I won't say what they are because secrets. :)
If you're really concerned, I'll pm you what the phobia is.
Also, phobias aren't quite the driving force of your characters personality-- the fear really only comes into play at the end of the roleplay, when shit goes _down_. But that's pretty far away. We didn't pick phobias that the character would constantly be exposed to like.. girls or something.
As for you, OS, it was a lucky coincidence.

So guys Spades and I have decided that we'll prematurely launch this thing tomorrow. We'd hoped that the spots would have filled out before the weekend was over and by now we expected to have started the rp. I mean we only need two more people- or one if Silent Resonance still intends on joining and if Imperfectionist is okay with purples phobia. And Spade has a friend that they're going to touch base with tomorrow so _technichally_ we're ready to go..
Anyways I've been working on the opening post and I intend on having it up by tomorrow afternoon? Like around 3ish.
But before we all jump into the rp we should consider a thing or two that Spades and I haven't emphasized yet-
Our characters are all friends. A group of 9 is pretty big, though, meaning that not everyone gets along and that some are closer to others. Which we want to see. Make predetermined connections. Figure out who in the group your character most likely gets along with and who they probably do not get along with too well. Also feel free to list any info thats common knowledge about your character that the others should know.
I was thinking of setting up a chat maybe for all of us to use? Not sure though, I haven't even run this by Spades yet.
Final thing- I draw. Last night I drew a bunch of people/monsters that we'll bump into. The pics stretch the board, though... And since we can't use hiders anymore theres nothing to shield the children from the gore...
Actually, on that note, is everyone clear on that factor? That this rp is going to be fairly scary and gorey and all that? Probably yeah. Its going to get p gross as of my first post- btw which is going to be a little lengthy, hope that doesn't bother anyone.

:) I'm totally confirmed, Kiri, no matter what the phobia is. It will be easier for me to understand and craft the vagaries of my character if I know what it is beforehand, and that's why I asked. As for our group... Would anyone like to have a big sister? (Mitch would work well, as my character will be a bit raucous; they could be foils, of a sort)
My idea was that she'd be less connected to the group, mostly knowing them through her sibling, and more focused on getting herself and said sibling out of the nightmare world than aiding everyone else. She'll come around after getting beat up by nightmare-beasts a few times, though...

Hey, I'm all for it! It should be interesting, too: I'm so used to playing Mitch as the older brother figure, I'm interested to see him as the younger sibling. Although by the sound of it, it seems that he might be slipping into that role anyway XD Anyway, sounds great to me. PM me and we can get that set up!
