Courageous, witty, and possessing a remarkably incorruptible sense of justice, Shinichi believes anything could be explained with logic and deduction. Nicknamed "The Heisei Holmes" in Japan, he possesses the intellect and skills to match some of the greatest detectives of all time. Though he used to be brash young kid with an over-inflated ego, he was humbled down through his involvement in a criminal organization simply called "Black", particularly his shrinking down into his seven year old self. And although he remained ill-tempered at times, especially in matters of murder and the taking of another's life, he's patient and calm when it comes to solving cases, capable of spotting the most minute detail any ordinary man would have missed.
He also possesses knowledge of various subjects related to his crime-solving. He's athletic and is highly skilled in soccer. The list of skills he had learned from his mystery novelist of a father includes driving a boat, flying an helicopter, as well as firing a pistol. The one biggest flaw of his, however, is that he's tone-deaf; he can't sing to save his life. Furthermore, he sucks at video games.
Background Info -
Shinichi Kudo used to be a 17 year old high schooler detective with intelligence, fame, and fangirls to boot - and perhaps a little too much pride. While visiting an amusement park called "Tropical Land" with his girlfriend, Shinichi ran into a group of men in black making an illegal exchange of drugs. So focused on the business deal, the young detective didn't notice another member of the organization behind him and was assaulted with a metal bat. He was then force-fed with an experimental drug called "APTX 4869" that shrunk him down to the body of a 7 year old. Ever since that day, he vowed to hunt down the criminal organization that did this to him and bring them to justice. Two years later, he did - at the cost of his girlfriend's life.
Distraught, but never in despair, Shinichi has since moved on in life and continued hunting criminals everywhere. Unfortunately, he never did recover the antidote to the drug that had separated his childhood love from him. Though his neighbour and good friend, Professor Hiroshi Agasa, had promised to continue his research for a cure, Shinichi has long accepted his fate as a karmic punishment.

personality:(taken from the AVGN wiki)To put it lightly, The Nerd has serious anger issues, to the point of even destroying some of the games he reviews. He often drinks beer (either Rolling Rock or Yuengling), attempting to relieve his frustration and sorrow.
The Nerd's trademark is his filthy mouth. In almost every review he repeatedly swears to insult games. He's often quoted as saying that he would rather succumb to violent and scatological acts than have to suffer through the game he's reviewing. He seems to have few, if any, friends or acquaintances, even insulting children trick-or-treating at his house in the Halloween episode. That being said, the Nerd often acts very mean-spirited and cruel, and is generally unfriendly to most of the guests on his show. Despite all this, the Nerd also does reviews in a positive light on occasion, such as in the episodes: Nintendo Power, Back to the Future Trilogy, and Wish List (Part 2).

Depending on the setting, the Critic is given to over-the-top reactions, screaming at the top of his voice at movie plots that do not make sense or do not leave any explanation, or reacting with sarcasm. He goes berserk at the mere mention of the "Bat Credit Card". The Critic becomes a power-hungry despot when given positions of authority, as seen blatantly in Kickassia. He has a strong, rather obsessive infatuation for Catherine Zeta-Jones, whose appearance in movies momentarily distracts him from the review, when he would express his desire to possess her. This has happened in reviews such as The Phantom, The Haunting, and the Top 11 Villain Songs.
Occasionally, the Critic has shown a more compassionate side to him when he criticizes a work for acting insensitive about real life events, such as The Legend of the Titanic animated movie, which turned the disaster into a cliched message against whaling and established that all the passengers onboard survived the sinking. Also the Critic has shown a complete hatred for TMZ due to their lack of actual journalism. He parodied TMZ in the AI review where he brought up Sandra Bullock making a $25,000 donation to rebuild a destroyed school, only for the TMZ crew to instantly state that Bullock was "fat", proceeding to do a story on this. At the end of the review, he allows them to make a story about how Steven Spielberg and Stanley Kubrick may have understood each other better than other people thought, but they reinterpret his message and portray Spielberg and Kubrick as gay lovers, as well as insulting the latter's films. In revenge, the Critic humiliates the TMZ crew with inappropriate footage of themselves, and tells them that if they kept asking people on the internet to forget about it then they would, which would actually cause people to remember even more,
