[IC] RWBY: Innocence Lost

Ozpin stood at the edge of the massive cliffside overlooking the forest. The last of this years new students had just been catapulted off the edge after he delivered his typically curt opening speech, and he could still see the faint silhouette of one of the last students disappearing into the forest canopy as he sipped from his mug. Glynda was standing beside him with a view-screen, occasionally switching between new students so as to keep an eye on them, and he watched her out of the corner of his eye, tilting his head slightly as he thought to himself. This will be an interesting year...

Dammit, he should have expected this. Well, perhaps not this, but the fact that plummeting to the ground was the school's means of transportation to the testing field shouldn't have come as much of a surprise. Didn't stop him from panicking though. Ciel only got his bearings a handful of moments before the ground would be rushing up to greet him, and by then instinct took over. A few feet from the ground he vanished, reappearing a small ways away with the vertical momentum turned horizontal. Luckily his boots weren't cheap, and they handled themselves fine as he skidded away speed.

When at last he came to a stop, he felt his stomach churn and his cheeks grow hot. Fuck, he hated it, he hated it so much. That was the last time he'd be using the godforsaken ability if he had anything to say about it. Then again if the introduction had been anything to go on, he likely wouldn't.

Ciel's palm came to a rest upon Evelyn's handle, as it often did, and the other propped itself upon the second sheathe. Right then, team member and artifact. He hadn't done much looking around before the launch, but he'd spied a few people who looked as though they knew how to handle themselves. As long as he wasn't matched up with any of the dirty beasts, he was sure he could fit a good team.

He began to walk, eager. Already the solitude was gaining an eerie edge, the sooner he found others, the better. Hell, he didn't care if he found a Grimm first, as long as he found something. Ciel whistled to ease the air, and hopefully attract another person to him as he himself began to search. A good start, that's all he needed, just a good start.

"Well then, this is fun isn't it" Grane said as he was flying through the sky, unlike most kids he didn't really have an easy way down... actually thinking about no one had a particularly easy flight did they. At least not until he got to the trees, catching the crescent blade into a tree swinging him from one to the other at incredible speeds till eventually he slowed. "Oh god, that sucked... guess its a good thing I didn't eat much before hand. Well maybe that wouldn't have mattered cause that'd be all over now and I'd probably be covered in it... oh well onwards to whatever is next," Grane said sticking his hands in his pockets and walking on.

"Guess there's plenty of ground to find whats next... maybe I'll get paired with a team that can work well together... maybe my future family is in that team... or maybe their somewhere else..." Grane quickly got lost in thoughts, getting deeper and deeper into what might be his future here at the school, wondering if he can live up to his family

It was not every day one found themselves unexpectedly flung through the air into the forest below. It seriously had just been a few minutes of a speech from the headmaster atop that cliff and then suddenly you where sent plummeting do what would be the death of the unprepared.
For Raine this was completely natural. She would have loved to continue flying like this but gravity would start to take over and she aimed her decent towards a clearing in the trees, shifting her body around so she was feet first and slowing herself with her semblance, making the air blow against her to slow enough to land with a roll and get to her feet. Dusting her cloths off with a sigh as she looked aroun at the unfamiliar trees. A hunter always made themselves aware of what was around them, prey coyld he lurking in the shadows and ontop of that there was the other students who she was to look for. Checking her gear to make sure nothing was damaged she started forward, listening for any odd sounds that would give someone away. A low whistle not far from her got Raine's attention and she changed direction to head towards it, eyes on the forest floor to look for tracks.

Listening to Ozpin's speech Sienna was not expecting to be suddenly catapulted up into the air, turning her head slightly watching as the cliff started to get smaller and smaller until she couldn't see the headmaster anymore. After a few minutes of being in the air eventually Sienna could see a clearing of trees, Sienna quickly drew out the Riot Breakers her personal weapon when she landed gracefully on the ground using her semblance to make the ground softer upon impact. Sienna gracefully rolled on the ground until finally it stopped her brown eyes would quietly search around the are no sign of Grimm or any other student.

Sienna closed her eyes for a moment listening to the birds chirping their songs, her ears twitched slightly as she listened intently. It was rather peaceful and relaxing even though their were Grimm nearby somewhere, alone she could take down a few weaker ones but she didn't want to risk it and slowly started to push forward further into the woods one of her weapons was in blade mode while the other was in firearm mode. that way she would have both range and close quarters. After a few minutes of trying to search for the artifact they were told to get Sienna's ears quickly perked up as she started to make her way towards it eventually spotted another Faunus and started to approach him.

The forest stretches out for miles in most directions, with the cliff approximately a mile behind each of you, though descent methods resulted in you all ending up somewhat spaced out. At the moment none of you notice any disturbances in the forest around you, though Raine will hear a faint whistling a little ways in front of her, but no signs of Grimm activity yet. You all know the forest temple containing the artifacts is north, and that the cliff is south, but other than that have no real knowledge of where to go.

Ciel heard the footsteps before he saw anything, and all at once he stopped whistling. Perhaps he had been too hasty in his not caring whether he met a person or a Grimm first. He wasn't about to bite the dust five minutes into his journey for glory.

One hand came around to grip the sheathe, a finger poised on the trigger to propel the blade. If he was being honest, he was a tad nervous to utilize Evelyn. Without the proper, painstakingly-practiced stance, the force could send him on his back and the blade flying from his hand.

All the same, he readied himself and put on a brave face. "Who's there?" He called, and waited.

After a few minutes of trying to search for the artifact they were told to get Sienna's ears quickly perked up as she started to make her way towards it eventually spotted another Faunus and started to approach him.

Grane had walked for quite a while with nothing bothering him, which was alright by him the less there was to mess with him, the less there was to try and kill him. Even if something did try to kill him, would it really be that hard to kill something in an initiation forest? Either way it was nice out in the forest, there were some small woodland creatures and even a few grimm that Grane noticed but nothing violent... yet. It was in these thoughts though, a new scent emerged something that seemed more foxish but also human-y. "Alright whoever or whatever you are..." he began as he turned around to notice another faunus standing there. "Well you're a faunus, probably an academy student, partners?" He asked looking at the faunus in front of him. She didn't look like much, but at least he knew she wouldn't be racist and hell she was kind of cute. And honestly who didn't want a friend in this forest?

As Sienna walked along the forest it was rather peaceful seeing a few woodland creature as well as a fox nearby and smiled softly, the young Faunus made it into a clearing until her ears twitched slightly her tail swished side to side when she heard a twig snap causing her to turn around to aim one of her guns at Grane who came out of a group of trees. Letting out a soft sigh Sienna smiled softly and lowered her weapon, now that she had finally found a partner it would make things a lot easier in case any Grimm would come out. "Well obviously i'm a Faunus, and a student." Sienna teased playfully before hilting her weapon back into their hilts. "Lets work together then. I'm Sienna Fawn." She said approaching him and extending her hand towards the fellow Faunus.

"You should keep your voice down, animals and Grimm tune into that." Raine would reply to Ciel's mildly paniced question while calmly walking out of some bushes. "Of course that now longer matters, you alerted everything within hearing range, which is not all bad because that means some fellow classmates may have heard as well." the red haired girl flashed him a grin. "so now that we have found each other shall we head towards the relic together? If you prefer it alone I understand but there is strength in numbers." She started walking north, knowing the general directions of where to go.

Ciel observed the girl as she appeared from the brush, and though he kept his hands on Evelyn's handle, his grip relaxed. She herself looked imposing enough, but the blade caught his eye above all else. It seemed technical, but robust and sturdy, and most importantly it looked like it could cleave through Grimm flesh with relative ease.

As far as partners went, she'd do nicely, he thought.

"No no, together sounds like a good plan," he said, and offered a graciously low bow before starting off after her. "My name is Ciel Wolshaw, and who might you be?"

"Well obviously i'm a Faunus, and a student." Sienna teased playfully before hilting her weapon back into their hilts. "Lets work together then. I'm Sienna Fawn." She said approaching him and extending her hand towards the fellow Faunus.

Grane looked at her for a moment before extending his hand towards hers and shaking, "Grane, Grane Mingan, so which way do you vote we go? We've got forest that-a-way, that-a-way, that-a-way, and that-a-way" he said playfully spinning around, "And I think above us is definitely tree, and below us is definitely earth.

"Who's there?"
