I felt years really didn't make sense with whole Alvith not having any time concept beyond day and night really. So instead I will do it by ages and age is just gonna be the time period of a chiefs rule. Just didn't really fit the whole year at the top. Once the Alvith eventually come up with a form of measurement of time and have years will include years. For now it's just 'Age of -chiefs name-' but in future will be 'Age of -chiefs name- Year ###'.


I might not even bother with time keeping myself because the other players usually have different paces anyway. Not sure what I'll do about tech advancement though.

My timekeeping is just by thirteen cycles of the full moon, and hence approximate. But I figure someone should have a timekeeping system just to keep reference for later history. I am going at two years per post, but feel no need to conform to that. I always found that letting things progress dynamically is the best way to run an RP.

The problem I sometimes have with time is that, let's say the RP takes place over a few thousand years. That's hundreds of generations that your civ would go through, and therefor no realistic persistent characters. Not to mention that even simple interactions between civs would often last decades.

I'm going for a slow pace currently. Will probably pick up some in future but currently going it slow. I haven't done any tech advancement yet but will have it be slow process. Not sure how many posts but figure at least three if not more once I get to developing technology.

Time in this RP is like Fight Club.

I usually do my posts as discrete rather than sequential events, so they stand as little snapshots of what is going on at the given time. As well, I always said that interaction actually takes place during the time period of the first post, but that subsequent interaction posts are just what happened in the past. It's not a perfect solution but it resolves some of the inconsistencies.

Regarding astronomy, I should have been more specific. Can total eclipses happen? Because moons blocking the sun happens everywhere within our solar system, but a equally proportionate total eclipse is a strange coincidence that is only relatively recent in astronomical terms. Does that happen on Nova Mondial, though? Statistically, it's unlikely, but I think for story purposes, I think it would work well.

As for time measuring, I think as none of us had made contact yet, as long as we don't go too far advanced or populated than anyone else, I think the rate of events isn't that crucial for now. We should be able to adapt it when contact is established, though. I have been going by days, but after Darbu's storyline, I'm planning a significant jump.

I would be inclined to agree, considering the emphasis the Cindorayi place on the moon. I was thinking of naming naming a particularly violent or unfortunate era the "age of eclipse".

On the subject of time I concur with Aweirdgamer.

As I warned a couple of days ago on my status, I'm going to be gone from tomorrow until the 8th. What are your opinions on this? Can I stay on this? If its necessary, I *might* be able to post a couple of times during the trip, but I really can't say. All I would have is a tablet with me, and I've always had trouble writing on it. I wouldn't be able to guarantee the length or quality of any posts I might be able to post.

Sorry about late post, had it done yesterday then just forgot to click post button for it. Haven't had much time to really work on picture of a Alvith lately. I don't listen to bands mostly just watch amvs. Need the visual information to really enjoy a song usually otherwise just listen to random songs with a good beat in background when doing other things.

Name of Race: arsurón bära̋kH (pronounced ar-soo-rawn behrehkh)
Pic/Description:

Racial Characteristics: The Arsurón possess slippery, amphibian-like skin, typically teal or bluish green. This skin allows for direct transfer of oxygen to blood when submerged in flowing water, and allows the Arsurón to absorb the water from the air of damp enviroments. This skin also makes them suseptable to water soluable poisons and toxins at a much higher rate than most. Their yellow colored eyes give them thr ability to see perfectly underwater. In addition to elflike ears and slender phisiques, they have sharp teeth and sharp, knifelike claws.
Race Bio (personality, etc.): The Arsurón's origins are obscure and uncertain, it is unknown if they arose from sea dwelling life, or diverged from a land dwelling species that returned to the water. What is known is they first appeared as elflike amphibians along the Arsur coasts. Following fish and other sea life up and down the shorelines, the Arsurón developed the boat centered, sea based nomadic lifestyle they live currently, also conducting incursions and raids on small settlements along the nearby rivers where they take captives for use as slaves.
